Covington has made the Texans roster and will be the backup to Vince Wilfork at nose tackle.

Covington is a bit undersized, but held his own in all four games played. He displayed good mobility and pursuit, recording 10 tackles during four games.

Covington got significant playing time in Saturday night's preseason game against the San Francisco, his first game action as part of a 3-4 defensive alignment, the Houston Chronicle reports.

Covington, a 2015 sixth-round draft pick out of Rice, got some extended run during this game and worked on the technique required to be a defensive tackle in a 3-4. He's currently listed third on the depth chart behind Vince Wilfork and Jeoffrey Pagan.
