Wed Sep 24 201411:37Pickett signed with Texans on Wednesday
Pickett signed with the Texans on Wednesday, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Pickett spent the past eight seasons with the Packers, for whom he generally disappointed with just 19 tackles (15 solo) in 16 games last season. However, with rookie Louis Nix III (knee) being placed on IR, the 34-year-old Pickett's addition gives the Texans a veteran nose tackle with experience playing in a 3-4 scheme.

Pickett insists there's a "100 percent" chance he signs somewhere this season, but declined to reveal which (if any) teams he's been talking to. His No. 1 choice is the Packers, where he's been a starter for the last eight seasons. But they appear to have moved on with B.J. Raji, Khyri Thornton, Josh Boyd and Letroy Guion all capable of playing nose tackle.

Fri Feb 21 201411:05Packers expected to let NT Ryan Pickett walk
The Packers aren't expected to re-sign free agent NT Ryan Pickett.
Pickett is 34 years old and doesn't profile as the type of player the Packers typically invest money in. Green Bay wants to clear some room on the defensive line in order to get younger, faster, more athletic players like Datone Jones more snaps. Pickett is merely a run plugger and will likely have to settle for a one-year deal.

Sat Dec 21 201310:27Pack hasn't approached Pickett about 2014
Packers NT Ryan Pickett says the team hasn't talked with him about the possibility of re-signing with the team.
"No, nobody has said anything," said Pickett. "I've got two more games to show 'em." Pickett has started all 14 games this season but has registered just 16 tackles on 440 defensive snaps. That's quite the drop-off from 2012 when he racked up 51 tackles on similar playing time. Pickett is 34 years old. He wants to re-sign with the Packers, but the team tends to shy away from older players.

Fri Jan 18 201312:37Trgovac: Pickett has another good year left
Packers DL coach Mike Trgovac expects the team to retain LE Ryan Pickett for the 2013 season.
Pickett, 33, brings essentially nothing to the table as a pass rusher, but he is a run-stuffing power pig at left end and nose tackle. "I think Ryan has some more football left in him. I really do," Trgovac said. "I think he definitely has another good year left in him." Pickett is owed $6.1 million in 2013.
