The Jaguars had been using rookie Rashad Greene on punt returns, but he was placed on short-term injured reserve prior to Week 3 against the Patriots. New England never had to punt in that game, so we never saw Greene's replacement. Marshall is a rookie who did some returning in the preseason. |
Marshall, who starred as a dual-threat quarterback at Auburn, has been converted to a defensive back/return specialist at the NFL level. While it's unclear if he'll crack the final roster, he's been given extensive looks as a return man, and if he sticks around, special teams is where his impact would be felt. That said, fellow rookie Rashad Greene has also fared well as a returner, so it's unclear whether the Jags would be comfortable using a roster spot on Marshall, who is fairly limited as an overall player. |
