Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley doesn't expect Bortles (shoulder) to practice Wednesday, but anticipates the quarterback being ready for Week 6 against Houston, the Florida Times-Union reports.
Bortles suffered a Grade 1 sprain of the AC joint in his right shoulder after getting sacked six times in Sunday's loss to Tampa Bay. You'll need to monitor his status each day of practice leading up to the game against the Texans.

Bortles suffered a Grade 1 AC joint sprain in his shoulder during Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.
Bortles' shoulder sprain occurred at an unknown time during Sunday's game, but he still finished with 303 yards and a career-high four touchdowns. Following that stellar performance, it's surprising to hear of Bortles' injury, which will require his status to be updated as the week unfolds. If Bortles misses any reps going forward, backup Chad Henne would figure to fill in, as he represents the only other quarterback on the Jaguars' roster.

Bortles completed 23-of-33 passes for 303 yards and a career-high four touchdowns in Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. He also ran for 21 yards on his lone carry in the 38-31 loss.
A huge game for the second-year signal caller, who nearly led Jacksonville back from a pair of double-digit deficits. In addition to the excellent touchdown production, Bortles also topped the 300-yard mark for just the second time in his career. Sunday saw tight end Julius Thomas make his season debut, giving the Jaguars a well-rounded group of skill position players that also includes Allen Robinson, Allen Hurns, T.J. Yeldon, among others. Bortles now has a 10:4 TD:INT ratio through five games, and while he's not yet a weekly fantasy starter in most leagues, he is earning some attention as a bye-week fill-in. Jacksonville will host a Texans team in Week 6 that just allowed a 92.1 QBR to 40-year-old Matt Hasselbeck.

Bortles completed 28-of-50 passes for 298 yards and a touchdown and added 31 rushing yards on four carries in Sunday's loss to the Colts.
Sunday's game was most notable for what Bortles didn't do, turn the ball over. After turning the ball over at least once in 12 of his first 15 career games, Bortles has avoided handing the ball over to the other team in two of the Jaguars' past three games. The next step for Bortles will be to improve his 54.5 percent completion percentage that ranks third worst in the league. From a fantasy perspective, Bortles has one big factor in his favor - opportunity. New offensive coordinator Greg Olson, the architect of Derek Carr's promising rookie year, appears set to put the Jaguars' offense in the young quarterback's hands. Bortles has thrown the ball 156 times through four weeks, third most in the league. With that many chances the Jaguars, and fantasy owners, are betting that the naturally gifted Bortles can convert a handful of them into big plays.

Bortles competed 17-of-33 passes for 242 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's loss to New England. He added seven yards on the ground on three attempts.
Bortles entered Sunday's game ranked sixth worst in the league in completion percentage and, after struggling to complete half of his attempts on Sunday, has connected on 53.8 percent of his throws for the season. In 17 career starts, Bortles has completed 60 percent of his passes just five times. Though he has built a solid rapport with young receivers Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns and has Julius Thomas coming aboard, it will be difficult for Bortles to be a consistently fantasy-relevant quarterback until he becomes more accurate with football.

Bortles completed 18-of-33 pass attempts for 273 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 23-20 win over Miami.
Bortles had a big first half, tossing both of his touchdowns before halftime, but did enough late in the game to help upset the Dolphins. The young QB did a great job hooking up with Allen Robinson, as the duo hooked up six times for 155 yards and two touchdowns. It was probably Bortles' biggest win as a professional, as Miami could easily be a playoff team in 2015. In Week 3, Bortles will get another tough test, facing the Patriots on the road.

Bortles connected on 22-of-40 passes for 182 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions in Sunday's loss to the Panthers. He also carried the ball four times for 26 yards.
The Jaguars offense was held in check by a strong Carolina defense in this one as they were limited to just 279 total yards. On the bright side, Bortles was able to spread the ball around to eight different receivers even with tight end Julius Thomas out due to injury and top target Allen Robinson limited to just one catch. The second-year quarterback should also benefit from the addition of running back T.J. Yeldon, who is expected to lighten the burden although he totaled just 67 yards in his NFL debut. Things don't get any easier for Bortles, as the Jags will host the Dolphins in Week 2.

Bortles played well in Friday's preseason game against Detroit, completing 20-of-29 passes for 245 yards and a touchdown. He also ran four times for 38 yards.
Bortles looked very comfortable in and out of the pocket, standing tall on a number of throws, as well as taking off on a couple of nice runs. The young signal caller has had a solid preseason, and has some decent weapons at his disposal, making him an interesting late-round target.

Bortles completed eight of 16 passes for 98 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Giants.
Bortles led the Jaguars to nine points on his three drives, notably connecting with Allen Robinson for gains of 36, 20 and eight yards. It appears Bortles will have an improved group of pass-catchers this season, but he's still surrounded by other inexperienced players and stuck behind a questionable offensive line.

Bortles completed 11-of-15 passes for 118 yards and ran for a four-yard touchdown in Friday's preseason opener against the Steelers.
Bortles impressively led the first-team offense to 10 points on three drives, and it possibly could have been more if not for a few dropped passes. He finished the evening on a high note, just barely sneaking inside the pylon on a 4th-and-goal from the four-yard line to finish off a 12-play, 83-yard drive. The Jaguars will probably give their starters a good amount of run this preseason, as no offense is more reliant on young players.

Bortles continues to battle bad habits introduced to his throwing mechanics since he was young, the Florida Times-Union reports. The second-year quarterback said the bad habits sneak in during his 11-on-11 work, when he's thinking about things other than his mechanics, like schemes, coverages and reads.
Bortles worked in the offseason with throwing guru Tom House and will go back for a refresher in July. "The takeaway was kind of the first thing we wanted to fix," Bortles said. "Kind of shortening up the circle and shortening up the throwing motion and following through and making sure the ball is leaving off your pointer finger and you're ripping your thumbs down. I was kind of cutting across the ball, throwing it like a baseball sometimes, causing some wobblers. So trying to [get] rid of those as much as possible."

Bortles is testing out his new mechanics during organized team activities, the Florida Times-Union reports.
Bortles has been working on footwork as well as throwing mechanics, so right now it's all about developing muscle memory and getting comfortable. Head coach Gus Bradley has been pleased with the quarterback's work, noting that Bortles has become more self aware, and he understands when mistakes are made and corrects them on his own.
Sun Dec 28 201419:05Bortles (foot) completed 14-of-33 passes for 117 yards
Bortles (foot) completed 14-of-33 passes for 117 yards, while adding 61 rushing yards on three carries during Sunday's loss to the Texans. He finishes the season with 2,908 passing yards, the most yards by a rookie in franchise history, ESPN.com reports.
Bortles' rookie season was understandably shaky at times, with scattered flashes of promise. He developed a solid relationship with the team's three rookie wideouts (Marqise Lee, Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns), while also involving veteran Cecil Shorts. After being selected with the third-overall pick in his year's draft, Bortles is surely expected to be the starter next season, and while he has the tools around him to develop into a decent passer, it may take a while, and he's unlikely to be a top-tier fantasy option any time soon.

Bortles (foot) completed 13-of-26 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown, adding five carries for 50 yards, in Thursday's 21-13 win over the Titans.
Bortles improved as the game went on, and while his passing wasn't much better than the numbers suggest, he posted the second-best rushing total of his rookie season, indicating that his sprained foot isn't a major concern. He now has 53 carries for 358 yards through 13 starts, albeit without any touchdowns on the ground. He also has just 11 passing touchdowns, making him one of the least attractive options on the waiver wire in most leagues. As bad as the numbers have been, he'll almost certainly enter 2015 as the starter, after spending his rookie season on a team that's utterly lacking in both talent and experience. First, Bortles will finish his disappointing rookie campaign with a middling Week 17 road matchup against the Texans.

Bortles (foot) will be active and start Thursday's game against the Titans.
Bortles -- who is dealing with a right mid-foot sprain -- will give it a go Thursday, but with a 2:4 TD:INT ratio over his last five games, he's only worth a look in deeper formats in Week 16.

Bortles (foot) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Titans, according to John Oehser of jaguars.com.
Oehser adds that coach Gus Bradley likes the way that Bortles has progressed and is leaning toward the rookie QB playing Thursday. That said, per Oehser, the team plans to work out Bortles (who is backed up by Chad Henne) a couple of hours prior to the game before making a final determination on the signal-caller's Week 16 status.

Bortles (foot) is no longer in a walking boot and remains confident he'll be able to play Thursday against Tennessee.
While Bortles' mid-foot sprain doesn't appear to be anything serious, it's worth noting coach Gus Bradley said that if Jacksonville had gone full contact at Tuesday's practice, Bortles would have been limited. Still, at this point he appears on track to get the start Thursday, barring a setback during Wednesday's session.

Bortles (right mid-foot sprain) believes that he will be able to play Thursday against the Titans.
That said, with the Jaguars on a short week, the team is likely to officially list the QB as questionable for Thursday's contest, but at this stage Bortles appears optimistic about his chances of remaining in the Jaguars' lineup in Week 16.

Bortles (right mid-foot sprain) is considered questionable for Thursday's game against the Titans.
We'll monitor Bortles' status closely in the coming days, but the Jaguars' short week could hamper his chances of playing on Thursday. If Bortles is unable to go, Chad Henne -- last seen in Week 3 -- would be in line to start Week 16's contest against the Titans.

Bortles (shoulder) completed 21-of-37 passes for 210 yards and one interception Sunday against Baltimore.
Bortles' disappointing rookie season continued Sunday, as he threw yet another interception and took eight sacks. On a positive note was able to spread the ball around to eight different receivers, with Cecil Shorts leading the team with 11 targets. Next week, Jacksonville hosts Tennessee and its 19th-ranked passing defense (32nd rushing).
