Coach Andy Reid indicated Monday that Thomas could be an option at running back following Jamaal Charles' injury, Adam Teicher of ESPN reports.
Thomas made the change to wide receiver in the offseason, but could wind up taking some snaps at running back again. He hadn't touched the ball much during the first four weeks of the season, but did catch two passes for 24 yards on Sunday, finding paydirt for the first time this season. He also rushed one time, a number that could rise slightly moving forward. However, the Chiefs still have Charcandrick West and Knile Davis as the main options out of the backfield, and the team is expected to work out both Ben Tate and Pierre Thomas on Tuesday. Thomas would likely serve more as a change-of-pace back than anything else, and could receive a few carries out of the backfield, but he seems highly unlikely to see a huge uptick in touches because of the injury to Charles.

Thomas touched the ball just three times on offense Sunday against the Bengals.
Among the touches for Thomas was one catch for 11 yards and two carries for negative four yards. While Andy Reid discussed a plan to get the speedster the ball more often this season, he hasn't had much opportunity through the first four contests, and there's no indication that will be changing soon.

Thomas caught two passes for 12 yards and carried the ball one time for negative seven yards in Monday's game against the Packers.
Thomas saw a slide in snap count from 26 in Week 2 to just 15 in Week 3. Considering he wasn't listed on the injury report, it's not a great sign that he didn't play much. Despite an offseason emphasis on getting the speedster involved in multiple ways, he's barely seen touches early on in the season. There's no indication that will be changing anytime soon.

Thomas caught just two passes for 20 yards in Thursday's game against the Broncos.
While Thomas' production was limited, he did receive a bump in the snap count from 18 in Week 1 to 26 in Week 2. He's expected to continue increasing his snap count as his calf becomes less of an issue.

Thomas collected one pass for two yards and added one carry for nine yards in Sunday's game against the Texans.
Thomas took the field for just 18 snaps offensively, but was utilized in multiple ways in the contest. He's expected to primarily line up as a wide receiver this season, but could see a few snaps out of the backfield as well. However, he won't serve much fantasy utility unless he sees the field more than he did Sunday.

Thomas (calf) is active for Sunday's game at Houston.
Thomas will play, but it remains to be seen how many targets he will see as the Chiefs also have Jason Avant and Chris Conley looking to get in on the action behind Jeremy Maclin and Albert Wilson.

Thomas is officially probable for Sunday's Week 1 matchup against the Texans.
Thomas skipped the final preseason game last week, but was a full participant all week at practice. All signs point to him suiting up on Sunday, but it's unclear how much he will play. Coach Andy Reid expressed an interest in getting the ball in the speedster's hands, but hat will likely come in the passing game following his switch to wide receiver. Given the depth at the position, he may not have as clear a path to snaps as he would have had last season.

Thomas (calf) was a full participant at Monday's practice.
While Thomas skipped the Chiefs' final preseason game last Thursday, his return to practice Monday could foreshadow him being available for Week 1. Coach Andy Reid earlier indicated that he would be eased back into action, so it's possible he'll have a limited snap count in the first game. Even when healthy, the wide receiver group behind Jeremy Maclin remains a bit cloudy, but Thomas should remain in the fold.

Thomas (calf) did not play in Thursday's preseason game against the Rams.
While Thomas did return to practice in a limited capacity Sunday, he's still being eased back into action on the whole. As a result, the Chiefs likely weren't going to chance him suffering a setback of some kind in the final preseason game, and it's still a little unclear whether or not he'll be ready for Week 1.
Wed Sep 2 201523:50Thomas returned to practice Sunday in limited capacity
Thomas returned to practice Sunday in a limited capacity. "De'Anthony will work his way back in," coach Andy Reid said Sunday morning. "He did the walk thru with us and we'll see how he holds up. Just kind of taking him slow out there."
Thomas has been sidelined since the first preseason game due to the strained calf, but will slowly be reintegrated into both the offense and special teams. The speedster has officially made the shift to wide receiver for the 2015 season, but missed valuable time in training camp that could cost him some playing time in the regular season.

Thomas (calf) will miss his second straight preseason game Friday against the Titans, Adam Teicher of ESPN reports.
Thomas suffered the injury in the preseason game against the Cardinals two weeks ago, and it will cost he hasn't returned to practice since. He made the switch to wide receiver in the offseason, and entered camp with a legitimate shot at earning a spot as the Chiefs' slot receiver. However, all the missed time may have cost him that. Nobody has really stood out though, so a return to practice soon and a strong showing late in camp could keep him in contention for some snaps on Sundays.

Thomas suffered a calf strain in Saturday's preseason game against the Cardinals.
A strain likely comes as a relief for Thomas, as it shouldn't cost him much time compared to other, more severe issues. An official timetable hasn't been released, but given Knile Davis' knee sprain suffered in the same game, Thomas could get some work as insurance in the backfield if healthy.
Sat Aug 15 201522:21De'Anthony Thomas: Sustains Calf Injury Saturday
Thomas won't return to Saturday's preseason contest at Arizona due to a calf injury, Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star reports.
The severity of Thomas' issue isn't known, but he may have been removed as a precaution. Expect the Chiefs to clarify his status in the aftermath of the game, in which he gathered in one of two targets for zero yards.
Wed Jun 3 201515:42Thomas working with Chiefs' wide receivers in practice
Thomas has been working with the Chiefs' wide receivers in practice, ESPN.com reports.
After being grouped with the team's running backs as a rookie last season, this year Thomas has been working with the team's wideouts. Whereas Thomas could be a liability at times as a blocker in the backfield, in his new assignment the team hopes to take full advantage of his speed in opponents' secondaries. If the switch pans out, he could earn some fantasy utility in PPR formats.

Thomas is expected to receive snaps as the slot receiver in training camp, ESPN reports.
It's not a huge surprise that Thomas could be utilized in that fashion considering he hauled in 23 passes last season. The second-year speedster will likely serve in a similar role as Dexter McCluster did in his time with the team as a hybrid RB/WR, and taking snaps in the slot is reflective of that mentality.

Thomas rushed one time for 18 yards and caught three passes on three targets for 28 yards in the season finale Sunday against the Chargers.
Thomas continues to serve as an X factor in the offense, showing the versatility to line up in the backfield as well as out wide. He also serves a large role as a punt returner. Thomas got a late start in 2014, missing the first four games due to a hamstring injury. The rookie finished the season with more receptions (23) and receiving yards (156) than rushes (14) and rushing yards (113), though his only touchdown came on the ground. He appears to have taken on the role vacated by Dexter McCluster after the 2013 season, and projects to do the same again in 2015, with his largest impacts likely coming on special teams and in the passing game. He is an explosive player that averaged 8.1 yards per carry, and it wouldn't be surprising if the Chiefs find a way to get him more involved in the game plan.

Thomas rushed one time for minus-six yards Sunday against the Steelers, adding six catches for 47 yards.
Thomas has been utilized as another pass-catching weapon for the Chiefs lately. He doesn't see too many carries on a consistent basis, with Knile Davis considered the backup to Jamaal Chalres, and will likely continue to serve mainly in the passing game and on special teams.

Thomas rushed two times for 14 yards and caught one pass for five yards in Sunday's game against the Raiders. He also added an 81-yard punt return for a touchdown.
Thomas saw 21 snaps compared to just five all of last week. This can largely be attributed to Jamaal Charles leaving the game briefly and being tested for a concussion, then consequently sitting for the fourth quarter. It appears Charles passed his concussion test, though Knile Davis is still considered his direct backup if he can't play.

Thomas snagged two passes for five yards Sunday against the Broncos.
Thomas actually outsnapped Knile Davis in Sunday's game five to two. It could be in part due to Thomas' superior abilities in the passing game, but regardless, neither he nor Davis appear to be viable fantasy options with Charles taking 96 percent of the offensive snaps.

Thomas caught 2-of-6 targets for 15 yards, adding one carry for nine yards, in Thursday's 24-20 loss to the Raiders.
Thomas finished second on the team in targets, trailing only fellow running back Jamaal Charles, who caught 4-of-7 for 42 yards and a touchdown. According to Arrowhead Pride, Thomas played a season-high offensive 33 snaps, which was at least partially due to the absence of slot receiver Junior Hemingway, who exited in the first half with a concussion. Thomas had an odd night returning punts, as he picked up 15 yards on his first return, lost 12 on his second, and was then replaced by Frankie Hammond, who gained 48 yards on his two returns. Meanwhile, Thomas' lone kick return was a 48-yarder that set the Chiefs up with excellent field position for the game's (unsuccessful) final drive.
