Reid (ankle) practiced for the first time since Aug. 20, Josh Katzenstein of The Detroit News reports.
Reid was atop the Lions' depth chart prior to being injured in Detroit's preseason game against Washington. Though he will likely return to the team in a supporting role behind Haloti Ngata and Tyrunn Walker, backup defensive tackles Jermelle Cudjo and Gabe Wright combined for 39 defensive snaps in Week 1 - a total Reid may take the bulk of once he returns to full health.

Reid (ankle) didn't practice on Wednesday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Reid is still recovering from a high ankle sprain he suffered during the Lions' preseason game against Washington on Aug. 20. At the time, he was a starter. Now that Haloti Ngata is healthy, he figures to slot by behind Ngata and Tyrunn Walker in the defensive line rotation once he's healthy. If he isn't ready by Sunday, Jermelle Cudjo and rookie Gabe Wright will factor in more prominently.

Reid (ankle) has shed his walking boot, David Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Despite recovering from a high ankle sprain, the second-year defensive tackle said that he's keeping sharp mentally and making progress physically. With Haloti Ngata out this preseason, Reid started alongside Tyrunn Walker in the preseason before he got hurt. Reid and Walker are competing for the staring spot opposite Ngata once Detroit's Week 1 showdown versus San Diego comes around. Win or lose, Reid figures to have a featured role on Detroit's line this season.

Reid may miss the remainder of the preseason with a high ankle sprain, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Offensive lineman Larry Warford, too, may miss the remainder of the preseason with an ankle injury, but the difference between Warford and Reid is that Warford has a starting spot locked up. Reid, on the other hand, has been in a battle to start opposite Haloti Ngata. While Reid has had a strong camp, free-agent pickup Tyrunn Walker, who has played with Reid on the first-team as Ngata returns to form, may have the last crack at winning the job.

Reid showed flashes of promise and registered half of a sack in Thursday's preseason opener against the Jets.
The second-year player out of Princeton reportedly impressed with his burst off the line. At present, the second starting defensive tackle spot alongside Haloti Ngata is up for grabs in Detroit, a competition Reid is very much in the middle of. While Ngata nurses a hamstring injury, Reid and Tyrunn Walker are listed as the Lions' starters.
