Sun Sep 20 201511:52Jones inactive for Sunday's game against Vikings
Jones is inactive for Sunday's game against the Vikings, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
With the Lions apparently satisfied with Ameer Abdullah's performance as a returner in Week 1, Jones will remain on the inactive list for a second straight week. He's currently the fifth receiver on the Lions' depth chart and will probably need one of the players above him to suffer an injury before he receives the opportunity to take the field.
Sun Sep 13 201514:54Jones inactive for Lions' Week 1 game against Chargers
Jones is inactive for the Lions' Week 1 game against the Chargers, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Jones was expected to handle return duties for the Lions in the opener, but the coaching staff elected to hand that role to rookie running back Ameer Abdullah. With Jones not offering much ability as a receiver, the Lions elected to make him inactive since his role on special teams would have been marginalized.

Jones is listed as the No. 1 returner for both kickoffs and punts on the Lions' initial regular-season depth chart, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
The role was previously expected to go to RB Ameer Abdullah, who figures to have a significant place in the offense. It thus makes more sense for the Lions to use Jones, a 2014 sixth-round draft pick who impressed during the preseason. Jones probably won't be useful outside of return-yardage leagues, as he's listed fifth on the depth chart at wide receiver.
Sun Sep 6 201509:48Jones edged Jeremy Ross for Lions' final receiver slot
Jones edged Jeremy Ross for the Lions' final receiver slot, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Jones may have caught about half as many passes as Ross, five to nine, but the explosiveness of those catches varied just as widely, 21.4 yards per reception for Jones as compared to 8.8 for Ross. Jones put in an excellent final appeal to make the roster in the Lions' preseason finale, showing an extra gear in his 64-yard catch and run for a touchdown.
Tue Nov 18 201417:49Jones (shoulder) will practice this week
Jones (shoulder) will practice this week, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Jones remains on the PUP list for now, but he is healthy enough to return to the practice field. The Lions will have 21 days to either activate Jones or place him on injured reserve.
Fri Nov 14 201413:59Jones (shoulder)
Jones (shoulder), who is on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, said Friday that he expects to practice next week, Josh Katzenstein of the Detroit News reports.
There is not an obvious opening on the depth chart for Jones once he's ready to return, so he likely faces an uphill battle to make any type of significant contribution on offense this season.

The Lions plan to activate Jones (shoulder) off the PUP list in the coming weeks, mlive.com reports.
While the move hasn't been made just yet, the Lions intend to see what they have in the sixth-rounder as the season rolls along. "We're going to bring him off PUP sometime in the next few weeks and let him practice, and we'll see what he does," GM Martin Mayhew noted of Jones on Thursday. Assuming he re-proves his health, Jones is a candidate to carve out a role out of the slot in the Lions' offense, but a wait-and-see approach remains in order from a fantasy perspective.
Sun Aug 24 201411:26Jones (shoulder) will begin regular season on Lions' PUP list
Jones (shoulder) will begin the regular season on the Lions' PUP list, ESPN.com reports.
Jones, a rookie sixth-rounder from Notre Dame, is still recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. Given his PUP designation, Jones will be sidelined for at least the first six weeks of practice once the regular season begins.
Mon Jul 21 201414:42T.J. Jones may not be ready for camp
Lions rookie WR T.J. Jones (shoulder surgery) may not be ready for the start of training camp.
The Lions open camp next Monday. A sixth-round pick, Jones will start off behind the eight ball as he competes for sub-package receiver duties behind Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate. Jones primarily practiced at Z receiver during pre-camp workouts. Megatron played Z under outgoing OC Scott Linehan, but is more likely to be utilized at X by new playcaller Joe Lombardi, with Tate at Z.

Tue Jun 24 201410:05Lions rookie WR Jones had shoulder scoped
Lions sixth-round WR T.J. Jones had his shoulder scoped earlier this month, but should be ready for training camp.
Jones sprained the AC joint in his shoulder during Notre Dame's bowl game and had the clean-up surgery during Lions minicamp. He'll be sidelined 4-6 weeks. Jones has a reliable pair of hands and could contribute as a slot receiver in year one, though the surgery obviously puts him behind the eight ball.
