Mon Oct 12 201513:00Blue (toe) did not practice Monday
Blue (toe) did not practice Monday, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Blue was deemed day-to-day with a turf toe injury following Houston's Week 5 loss Thursday, but despite having the weekend to rest, he was absent from Monday's practice. Given the tricky nature of his ailment, Blue's practice participation this week should help clarify when he can be expected to return. Until then, Chris Polk figures to serve as Arian Foster's primary backup, since Jonathan Grimes (knee) is also banged-up at the moment.
Fri Oct 9 201518:26Blue considered day-to-day with toe injury
Blue is considered day-to-day with a toe injury, the Texans' official website reports.
After saying that OT Oday Aboushi is day-to-day with turf toe, Texans head coach Bill O'Brien said that Blue has the same outlook and a similar injury. It Blue isn't ready for Week 6 against the Jaguars, Houston will be left with Chris Polk and possibly Jonathan Grimes (knee) behind Arian Foster. Blue has 10 days to get ready.

Blue rushed for 22 yards on six carries and caught one pass for 11 yards in Thursday night's loss to the Colts.
With Arian Foster's health improving and anticipated expanding role Thursday, the consensus was that Blue's snap count would be reduced, and it was. According to Pro Football Focus, Blue played 16 snaps compared to Foster's 46.
Sun Oct 4 201517:04Blue gained just 17 yards on six carries Sunday in Atlanta
Blue gained just 17 yards on six carries Sunday in Atlanta.
Blue received just six touches, while Arian Foster got 11 in his return from a groin injury. The Texans abandoned the run due to a 28-0 halftime deficit, but the distribution of touches indicates that the team views Blue as second fiddle to Foster.
Sun Oct 4 201512:36Blue's teammate
Blue's teammate, Arian Foster, is expected to see a somewhat limited workload in his return to action Sunday against the Falcons, the Houston Chronicle reports.
While the return of Foster caps Blue's fantasy upside this week, the report suggests that Blue could still see a share of the Texans' Week 4 carries, as Foster is welcomed back to the team's backfield. Blue rushed for 139 yards and a TD on 31 carries last Sunday against the Buccaneers, though once Foster's health is fully established, we'd expect the Texans to once again lean on him heavily.

Blue rushed 31 times for 139 yards and a touchdown Sunday against Tampa Bay.
After rushing 14 times for 48 yards through the first two games of the season, Blue exploded Sunday thanks to his high number of touches. While it was a very solid output for a player who had been struggling, the impending return of Arian Foster from his groin injury will put a big dent in Blue's opportunities, even against a weak Falcons defense in Week 4.

Blue managed just six yards on five carries and added four yards on one reception in Sunday's game against the Panthers.
A frustrating output for owners of the second-year back, who saw Chris Polk enter the fold to lead the backfield in touches by a wide margin. Blue has gained just 59 yards from scrimmage in two games and his role in the offense appears to be diminishing. It remains to be seen how the backfield touches will be divided in the Week 3 matchup with the Buccaneers.

Blue rushed nine times for 42 yards, and added seven yards on one reception in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs.
The Texans were forced to abandon the run after falling behind 27-6 in the first half, thus leading to a reduced workload for Blue. Jonathan Grimes and Chris Polk combined for 50 yards on 11 carries, so it looks like Blue will receive roughly half of the team's touches at running back in Arian Foster's absence. Foster isn't expected back anytime soon, so owners can continue to ride Blue for the foreseeable future.

Texans head coach Bill O'Brien is looking for increased cohesion among all the elements in the team's running game, including Blue, beginning Week 1 against the Chiefs, the Houston Chronicle reports. "I think that we have to do a better job of everybody understanding the run," O'Brien said. "That goes from the quarterback, to the line, to the tight end, and then obviously to the back. Everybody is seeing the front through the same set of eyes."
Blue broke off some runs during the preseason and there was some encouraging moments when throwing to backs, but collectively the running game averaged 2.8 yards and they had trouble converting on 3rd-and-short situations. It will be a different beast when the regular season kicks off -- teams don't build game plans in the preseason and O'Brien has some different things he's looking to do when the games count.

Blue had five carries for 18 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's preseason game against the Saints, adding one reception for one yard on his only target.
According to Larry Holder of NOLA.com, Blue got the start in place of Arian Foster (groin), who will miss at least the first few games of the season. Blue is poised to take on the starting job and lead the Houston backfield, but he'll likely cede passing-down work to Jonathan Grimes and/or Chris Polk. Blue should get the goal-line carries, as he did during the first quarter of Sunday's preseason contest. Week 1 brings a difficult matchup with the Chiefs' excellent front seven.

Blue rushed for 10 yards on four carries in Saturday night's preseason game against Denver. He played the first two series and had a long run of eight yards.
The Texans' offense didn't generate much in the rushing or passing game Saturday, so we're not ready to evaluate Blue's performance based on preseason Week 2. He is slated to open the season as the team's starter and given the mediocrity we've seen from the quarterbacks thus far in preseason, it looks like the Texans head coach Bill O'Brien will rely heavily on the ground game.

Blue rushed for 59 yards on nine carries in Saturday night's preseason opener against the 49ers. He played just two series and had gains of 32 and 14 yards.
If the Texans were going to bring in another back, they would have done so by now. Barring injury, head coach Bill O'Brien is set to roll with Blue as the team's lead back when the regular season kicks off.

The Texans are prepared to head into preseason games with Blue as the lead running back and do not have plans to add another back, the Houston Chronicle reports. "Yeah, I think right now we're pretty satisfied with what we're looking at right now," Texans coach Bill O'Brien said. "I think there is a bit of a numbers issue maybe body-wise when you look at it, but we're not in a situation here where we just want to bring anybody in off the street just to have numbers."
After news of Arian Foster's groin injury was released, the Texans auditioned several running backs, including Peirre Thomas, but he reportedly declined a veteran minimum offer of $870,000. For now, Blue is the top back and is expected to start the season opener.

Blue is listed as the Texans' first-team running back on the team's posted unofficial depth chart.
With Arian Foster out indefinitely with a groin injury, the listing is telling, given that the team has yet to add a veteran back to the mix. Next up on the team's posted depth chart at the position are Jonathan Grimes, Chris Polk and Kenny Hilliard. For now, at least, Blue continues to slot in as the favorite to head Houston's backfield in Foster's absence.
Thu Aug 6 201511:22For time being
For the time being, Blue is viewed as the "next man up" in the Houston backfield, following Arian Foster's groin injury, which will require surgery, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Such a notion is echoed by ESPN's Tania Ganguli, who noted that is was Blue who "took over in practice Wednesday in Foster's absence." In any case, a recurring theme in estimates regarding Foster's potential return is that he figures to land on short-term IR, in which case he would miss the Texans' first eight games, at a minimum. The door is thus open for Blue to see added duty, with Jonathan Grimes, Chris Polk and rookie Kenny Hilliard also around to compete for running back touches. Moreover, while the Texans' efforts to bring in Pierre Thomas stalled on Wednesday, it's possible they could revisit things on that front, while at the same time considering other options, either in free agency or via a trade.

Blue, who left Monday night's practice after reportedly suffering from some cramping, is a candidate to see expanded duty in the Houston backfield following Arian Foster's groin injury, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Reports surfaced Tuesday that Foster is in line to have groin surgery, and assuming Blue's issues Monday were indeed minor, he currently slots in as the next man up in the Houston backfield, which also rosters Jonathan Grimes, Chris Polk and Kenny Hilliard.
Mon Aug 3 201521:55Blue (leg) diagnosed with cramp
Blue (leg), who left Monday's practice on a cart, has been diagnosed with a cramp, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Initially, it appeared Blue may have sustained a more severe injury, but the cramp doesn't figure to cost him significant, if any, time going forward.
Mon Aug 3 201521:29Blue taken off field on cart during Monday's practice
Blue was taken off the field on a cart during Monday's practice, Mark Berman of Fox 26 in Houston reports.
Blue reportedly grabbed his leg following a run, and he was taken off the field prior to the conclusion of Monday night's session. At this point, it's too early to tell whether the injury is serious, and more information should be available Tuesday.

Blue had a team-high 17 carries for 39 yards and a one-yard touchdown in the Texans' 23-17 season-ending win over the Jaguars on Sunday. He finished his rookie season with 528 rushing yards (3.1 average) and two touchdowns, while adding 113 receiving yards and a touchdown reception.
Blue emerged from the training-camp jumble of candidates to become Arian Foster's top backup and had double-digit carries in six of the 16 games he played in 2014. Foster is still the main guy in Houston's backfield, but his usage can wear him down and exposes him to injury. Due to that, Blue is a name to keep handy.
Mon Dec 15 201406:42Blue had eight carries for 26 yards in Sunday's loss to Colts
Blue had eight carries for 26 yards in Sunday's loss to the Colts.
Arian Foster was the work horse Sunday, but the Texans threw only 25 times so there was a lot of work for the backs. We suspect the Texans will finish up the season in a similar manner -- favoring the running game in the final two weeks -- after they lost quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to a leg injury and rookie QB Tom Savage got dinged in the knee.
