Hayden (foot) was officially activated to the Raiders' 53-man roster Saturday, Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Interim coach Tony Sparano indicated earlier in the week that Hayden had a chance to play against Cleveland, and it would seem he indeed showed enough in practice this week to warrant a return to action. The second-year corner figures to play a significant role right off the bat for Oakland, though he may very well be on a snap count in his first couple games back.

Hayden (foot) is expected to be activated for Sunday's game against the Browns, NFL.com reports.
A corresponding move to activate Hayden from the PUP list is believed to be forthcoming. Hayden has started just two games since being selected as a first-round pick by the Raiders in 2013.

Raiders interim coach Tony Sparano said Wednesday that there's "a possibility" Hayden (foot) will be ready to play Sunday against the Browns, CSNBayArea.com reports.
Sparano added that Hayden, who's been out since undergoing surgery to repair a stress fracture in his foot in late July, had "a good day" in practice Wednesday. Hayden was able to take some defensive team reps, which represents a significant increase in activity from last week, when he was limited mostly to working with the scout team. While it sounds like the 24-year-old could be back to face Cleveland, Sparano cautioned that the team will continue to take a day-to-day approach with Hayden.

Hayden (foot) will return to practice Wednesday, NFL.com reports.
Hayden has missed close to five months due to a right foot injury suffered during the offseason. However, following a six week stint on the Raiders' PUP list, Hayden is now eligible to practice and has 21 days to be activated to Oakland's active roster.
Mon Oct 13 201420:44Hayden (foot) will begin practicing this week
Hayden (foot) will begin practicing this week, CSN's Scott Bair reports.
Hayden has not experienced any setbacks in his recovery from foot surgery, and he'll be back on the field this week. He's eligible to play in Week 7, but the team has not announced whether that will officially be the case.
Tue Aug 26 201411:11Hayden (foot) will begin regular season on Raiders' PUP list
Hayden (foot) will begin the regular season on the Raiders' PUP list, NFL.com reports.
Hayden appeared destined for this roster move, since a bevy of injuries have hampered his progress throughout the offseason. Following an eight-game rookie season, Hayden sprained his ankle this summer and underwent surgery to repair a stress fracture in his foot just before training camp. The oft-injured cornerback is currently rehabbing his foot, but the Raiders want to ensure their 2013 first-rounder is fully healthy once he's activated. With that goal, Oakland will keep Hayden sidelined for the first six games of this season, before he becomes eligible to join the team in practice. Until that happens, crosstown offseason signings Tarell Brown and Carlos Rodgers will comprise the Raiders' starting cornerback duo.

Hayden (foot) appears poised to begin this season on the Raiders' PUP list, which would force him to miss Oakland's first six games, NFL.com reports.
Hayden's brief NFL career has been marred by injury thus far. Following abdomen surgery, as well as hamstring and groin problems during his rookie season, Hayden sprained his ankle this offseason and needed surgery to repair a stress fracture in his foot just before training camp. As such, Hayden played only eight games last season and began his second year on the Raiders' PUP list, where he remains right now. Although former 12th overall pick has increased his workout activity of late, it sounds like Oakland is comfortable easing Hayden back to action to ensure he's finally completely functional once he returns. That could see Hayden miss the first six games of this season, allowing Tarell Brown to partner Carlos Rodgers in the Raiders' starting cornerback duo.

Hayden (foot) is increasing his workout activity and appears to be moving well following July surgery to repair a stress fracture, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Hayden played only eight games as a rookie last year and not only sprained his ankle over the summer, but also needed foot surgery just before training camp started. As such, the former 12th overall pick has been sidelined and limited to work with the Raiders' trainers thus far. With coach Dennis Allen previously expecting to have Hayden back by the end of the preseason, news of Hayden moving and cutting well on his foot is encouraging. Nonetheless, Hayden remains on Oakland's PUP list and has not been cleared to return to action, leaving Tarell Brown to start opposite Carlos Rodgers at cornerback.

Head coach Dennis Allen expects Hayden (foot) to return to the field before the preseason comes to an end, CSN Bay Area reports.
Allen also noted that Hayden is "not ready to be out here playing football" at the moment, so a return is not imminent. However, it sounds like Allen believes Hayden will at least be able to practice at some point in the next few weeks. Hayden is working his way back after undergoing late-July surgery to repair a stress fracture in his foot.

Tue Jul 22 201410:56Report: Raiders CB Hayden still not healthy
Sources have informed former NFL scout John Middlekauf that Raiders second-year CB D.J. Hayden (ankle) is still not healthy, and may open training camp on the active/PUP list.
Unreal. According to Middlekauf, even if Hayden doesn't end up on PUP, he's not expected to be a full participant in training camp, "similar to last season." Hayden was reportedly out of his walking boot earlier this month, but still can't seem to get his ankle right. Hayden battled a heart issue while at Houston before undergoing abdominal surgery shortly after the Raiders used the No. 12 pick in last year's draft on him. He then played in eight games before landing on I.R. with a groin injury. The Raiders don't have much at corner behind Hayden, Carlos Rogers, and Tarell Brown. Fourth-round rookie Keith McGill would be the next man up.

Sat Jul 5 201411:15Hayden out of boot, should be ready for camp
The Contra Costa Times' Steve Corkran said second-year CB D.J. Hayden is out of his walking boot and expected to be ready for the start of training camp.
Raiders coach Dennis Allen said the ankle injury suffered during OTAs has put Hayden "behind," but he should be able to catch up in training camp. After a rookie season marred by injury and inconsistent play, Hayden needs to stay healthy to prove he was worthy of the No. 12 overall pick.

Thu Jun 19 201417:17Dennis Allen: Hayden (ankle) is 'behind'
Raiders coach Dennis Allen concedes second-year CB D.J. Hayden is "behind" after sitting out this week's minicamp.
"I don't think there's any way you can sugar coat that," Allen said. Allen did add he believes Hayden can overcome the missed time, but it's clear he's disappointed Hayden has been relegated to the sideline for an important part of the offseason program. Hayden remained in a walking boot this week, giving him a month to get healthy for training camp.

Tue Jun 17 201417:38Raiders' Hayden (ankle) sitting out minicamp
Raiders CB D.J. Hayden (ankle) is sitting out this week's mandatory minicamp.
Coach Dennis Allen originally claimed Hayden's injury was minor, but admitted last week that he's questionable for the start of training camp. It's a most unwelcome development for a player who saw his rookie year wrecked by injury. Hayden was reportedly looking "bigger and stronger" before going down this offseason, but it will be hard to maintain that added bulk while he rehabs. The No. 12 pick of the 2013 draft will be on the spot whenever he finally returns to the practice field.

Mon Jun 9 201416:07D.J. Hayden appears out until training camp
Raiders CB D.J. Hayden (ankle) may be sidelined until training camp.
Coach Dennis Allen was noncommittal on Hayden's availability for the start of camp, and the sophomore corner is in a walking boot. Hayden missed eight games due to injury as a rookie. He was largely ineffective whenever on the field.

Mon Jun 9 201414:07D.J. Hayden (ankle) still in a walking boot
Raiders CB D.J. Hayden (ankle) remains in a walking boot.
Coach Dennis Allen claimed Hayden's injury was "minor" last week, but he's now looking shaky for minicamp. It's not a concern for Hayden's 2014 status, but it's a definite setback for a player who was trying to shake the ghosts of his rookie campaign. Hayden missed the majority of the Raiders' 2013 offseason program as he recovered from abdominal surgery related to a heart ailment. His rookie season ended in November when he was placed on injured reserve with a groin injury. Hayden has much to prove in 2014.

Mon Jun 2 201415:59D.J. Hayden dealing with ankle injury
Raiders CB D.J. Hayden missed Monday's practice with a right ankle injury, and was spotted in a walking boot.
He suffered the injury last week. Coach Dennis Allen claimed the ailment is minor, but it's notable nonetheless for a player who saw his rookie year marred by injury. "Bigger and stronger" than he was last season, Hayden has been getting talked up by the Raiders' coaching staff and media all offseason. He can't afford to miss much practice time as he attempts to shake his rough rookie campaign.

Tue May 27 201419:18D.J. Hayden looks 'bigger and stronger'
The Contra Costa Times reports second-year Raiders CB D.J. Hayden looks "bigger and stronger" than he did as a rookie.
"He's light years ahead of where he was at this point last year," coach Dennis Allen said Tuesday. "Not just from a physical standpoint, but really from a mental standpoint, too. He realizes now that everything's going to be fine, he's going to be OK, and now he can really focus on getting better as a football player." Hayden had a rough rookie year as he returned from a freak college heart injury, but is an obvious candidate to take a step forward for a Raiders team that saw fit to use the No. 12 overall pick on him last year.

Thu May 15 201413:20Raiders DC expecting D.J. Hayden breakout
Raiders DC Jason Tarver is expecting a breakout season from second-year CB D.J. Hayden.
The No. 12 overall pick of last year's draft, Hayden was overwhelmed after getting a late start on his rookie season. "He's honing his technique, he looks explosive and he's put on weight and strength," Tarver said. "And he's really focusing in on learning the little things in the defense so that he can play faster and be more aggressive on certain types of routes." This is undoubtedly part wishful thinking on Tarver's part, but being healthy could make all the difference for Hayden in his sophomore season.

Sun May 4 201413:19D.J. Hayden bulked up this offseason
Raiders 2013 first-round CB D.J. Hayden "hit the weights hard this winter and spring" after getting frequently out-muscled as a rookie.
In fairness to Hayden, he missed a ton of time last year after undergoing a followup procedure on his chest, stemming from a college heart problem. Still, his most memorable rookie moment came as Riley Cooper flamed the Raiders, and Hayden in particular, for 139 yards and three scores in Week 9. Coach Dennis Allen is reportedly "confident" Hayden will have a "breakout season."
