Patton (concussion) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Patton is coming off a two-catch, 53-yard effort in Week 4, but given that he's behind Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith in the 49ers' wideout pecking order, he's a speculative this week.

Patton (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Giants.
If Patton is unable to play, speedy Bruce Ellington will serve as the No. 3 wideout in an offense that was completely incompetent the last two weeks. Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith are both having very quiet seasons, but neither is in any danger of losing snaps.
Mon Oct 5 201500:26Patton suffered concussion during Sunday's loss to Packers
Patton suffered a concussion during Sunday's loss to the Packers, CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco reports.
Patton was one of the few bright spots for the 49ers, catching both of his targets for 53 yards. If he misses any time, Bruce Ellington will likely take over as the No. 3 wide receiver in a poor offense.

Patton stepped into the slot receiver role after Bruce Ellington (ankle) was a last-second scratch. He hauled in all four of his targets, but only recorded 25 yards in the loss to the Steelers.
Despite the having a prominent role in a game that featured a lot of passing, Patton failed to create separation and finished with an unfriendly fantasy day. All the talk this offseason was about how Patton was ready to step up in this offense, but after losing the slot role to Bruce Ellington in the preseason, Patton just looks like another failed wide receiver project by GM Trent Baalke.

Patton did not record an official catch in Thursday's preseason finale, but he did haul in a two-point conversion in the 14-12 win over San Diego.
Patton's disappearing act continues, as he seems to be losing the slot receiver battle to Bruce Ellington. He still has a strong chance to make the 53-man roster, but after starting the preseason with almost no competition for the role, Patton now seems like an afterthought when it comes to the slot role.

Patton made his first reception of the preseason against the Broncos on Saturday. He finished with eight yards.
Despite having little to no competition to stake his claim as the 49ers' slot receiver, Patton has been M.I.A. this preseason outside of a scoring a touchdown on a blocked kick. Bruce Ellington (leg) returned to action Saturday and was immediately more productive that Patton had been over the past three weeks. Patton will have to have a strong showing Thursday against the Chargers in order to restore faith in his coaching staff.
Thu Aug 20 201519:15Patton early favorite to win slot receiver role
Patton is the early favorite to win the slot receiver role, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN's NFL Nation reports.
Jerome Simpson was just handed a six-game suspension, and Patton's only other competition - Bruce Ellington - has been dealing with a minor leg injury. These circumstances as well as Patton's strong rapport with Colin Kaepernick have him as an early favorite to win the vacant position at the slot. Undrafted rookie DeAndrew White could be in the mix for the slot position, but isn't considered a serious threat. Patton - who didn't receive a target in 20 snaps Saturday - will have to produce on the field during the 49ers' final three preseason games to prove that he deserves the spot, but as of now he should be considered the favorite.

Patton was not targeted in Saturday's preseason opener against the Texans.
It was surprising that Patton - who led all receivers with 20 snaps - did not see a single target all game. He is currently in a position battle with Bruce Ellington and Jerome Simpson for the slot receiver, so it was a bit puzzling that Jim Tomsula didn't get a better look at him in game action. Expect Patton to be more involved in the offense in the 49ers' final three preseason games.

Patton caught his only target for 35 yards in Sunday's win over the Cardinals.
Patton finishes the year with just three catches for 44 yards and no touchdowns. The 24-year-old was buried on the depth chart for most of the season behind veteran receivers Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree. With Crabtree entering free agency, Patton could see a larger role in 2016 if the team does not bring the veteran receiver back.

Patton only caught one pass for 10 yards Sunday, but he was seen on the field with the first team to start the game against the Chargers.
It was surprising to see Patton lined up in the slot with the first unit as opposed to veteran Stevie Johnson. There have been no reports of an injury to Johnson, so the team may have wanted to get a better look at Patton with the starters. There have been no reports of Patton jumping Johnson in the depth charts, but it is definitely something to keep an eye when the regular season begins.
Sat Jul 5 201413:16Would be a shock if Patton is not on 49ers
ESPN's Bill Williamson would be "shocked" if second-year WR Quinton Patton is not on the 49ers' final roster.
Patton is battling fourth-round pick Bruce Ellington for No. 4 wide receiver duties, but Williamson assures there is room on the roster for both players. After missing a large chunk of his rookie season with a broken foot, Patton is once again sidelined with a foot injury and uncertain for the start of training camp.

Wed Jun 4 201414:11Report: Patton's (foot) CT scan looks clean
The Sacramento Bee reports 49ers WR Quinton Patton's (foot) CT scan came back clean.
This simply confirms that Patton didn't suffer any broken bones after injuring his foot on Monday. An MRI may be next on the schedule for Patton to see if he suffered any ligament damage. This is good news, however, after Patton broke his foot as a rookie and missed a large portion of the season. He's competing for No. 4 duties with fourth-round rookie Bruce Ellington.

Tue Jun 3 201417:17WR Patton suffers foot injury in practice
49ers WR Quinton Patton is awaiting CT scan results after injuring his foot in Monday's practice.
The injury is supposedly minor, but it's notable because Patton missed a huge chunk of his rookie season with a broken foot. Patton is competing with fourth-rounder Bruce Ellington for No. 4 duties after failing to make an impact in 2013. A serious injury would seriously dampen his 2014 fortunes.

Wed Mar 26 201410:58Harbaught doesn't sound sold on Patton
Coach Jim Harbaugh didn't express confidence in Quinton Patton as his No. 3 receiver Wednesday.
The 49ers' actions during free agency should be a wake-up call for Patton. Despite having Michael Crabtree, Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis, they've reportedly been after just about every wideout available including Hakeem Nicks, Julian Edelman and DeSean Jackson. According to Harbs, the Niners need "a third guy who can get open and make plays. ... A playmaker. That's what we're looking for."

Wed Feb 19 201421:5049ers view Quinton Patton as future starter
The 49ers' organization reportedly views 2013 fourth-round pick Quinton Patton as a future starter at wide receiver.
Patton is unlikely to get that opportunity in 2014, but it could certainly happen in a season or two. Patton finished his rookie year with just three catches for 34 yards in six appearances. He has forward-thinking value in Dynasty leagues.

Sun Jan 19 201423:38Quinton Patton has one-catch day vs. 'Hawks
Quinton Patton caught one pass for two yards in San Francisco's NFC Championship Game loss to the Seahawks.
Combining the regular and postseason, Patton finishes his rookie year with all of five catches on seven targets. A darling of the pre-draft process, Patton's season was derailed by a broken foot that cost him the better part of three months. Patton made noise in the summer, catching six passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns in the preseason. Capable of playing both the slot and perimeter, Patton is a hold in Dynasty leagues. He'll get every opportunity to prove himself for the receiver-needy 49ers in 2014.

Sun Jan 5 201420:18Quinton Patton goes catch-less in victory
Quinton Patton was held catch-less in the 49ers' Wild Card win at Green Bay.
Patton played in three-receiver sets, though the 49ers didn't use many of them, instead employing fullbacks and multiple tight ends. Patton will play the same role in the Divisional Round at Carolina.
