Sun Aug 24 201413:13Harper released by Packers on Sunday
Harper was released by the Packers on Sunday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Harper struggled with drops during the preseason and fell down the Packers' pecking order at wide receiver. A fourth round pick in 2013, Harper has now been released by the Seahawks, 49ers, and Packers.

Harper caught two passes for 55 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Titans.
Harper caught a couple long passes Saturday, but he also dropped a pass that would have given the Packers a fourth-down conversion. Harper is in the conversation to open the season with a reserve spot on the 53-man roster.

Tue Oct 22 201309:07Packers will use Harper as a WR
The Packers confirmed they'll use Chris Harper as a wide receiver.
The 49ers tried to turn Harper into an H-back before waiving him last week. The Packers put in a claim for the fourth-round rookie out of Kansas State. Harper contributed eight snaps on special teams against the Browns and will not try to get up to speed in the receiver playbook. He'll battle Myles White on the thinned-out depth chart.

Fri Oct 18 201316:29Packers claim Chris Harper off waivers
Packers claimed WR/TE Chris Harper off waivers from the 49ers.
The Niners tried turning Harper into a Delanie Walker-like fullback, but the Packers will likely move him back to wideout due to their array of receiver injuries. Harper was the 123rd overall pick in April's draft.

Thu Oct 17 201316:4149ers move on from TE/WR Chris Harper
49ers waived TE/WR Chris Harper.
A fourth-round pick of the Seahawks in April's draft, this is the second time in six weeks that Harper's been waived. He had yet to be active for the 49ers. Standing in at 6-foot-1, 229 pounds with 4.55 speed, it's possible Harper will end up a "tweener" without a true NFL position.

Mon Sep 2 201316:0449ers envision Harper like Delanie Walker
The 49ers reportedly envision converted WR Chris Harper "in the Delanie Walker mold."
Harper scored a 33 on the Wonderlic exam, and the 49ers believe he can handle multiple roles and a variety of positions. Harper and Walker aren't much different in terms of build, and the former has more straight-line speed. The Niners will attempt to develop Harper for a season before trying him on offense.

Mon Sep 2 201315:16Chris Harper moving to tight end?
CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco believes the 49ers are converting recently signed WR Chris Harper to tight end.
Although he lacks ideal height, Harper is built like a tight end at 6-foot-1, 229 pounds, while his 4.55 speed isn't prohibitive for a receiver, but is far better for a tight end. Strong handed, Harper did his best work after the catch at Kansas State. It's an idea that might not stick, but would seem to be worth trying after Seattle made Harper the rare fourth-round pick to get cut. Either way, Harper will likely be limited to special teams if he manages to keep his roster spot.

Mon Sep 2 201309:4149ers pluck Chris Harper off SEA's p-squad
49ers signed WR Chris Harper off the Seahawks' practice squad.
The fourth-round rookie out of Kansas State was surprisingly beaten out by Jermaine Kearse and Stephen Williams for a roster spot in Seattle. Now Harper will slide in as the sixth man in the 49ers' undistinguished receiver room. He'll have to show well in order to stay on the roster once Mario Manningham (knee) and Michael Crabtree (Achilles') get healthy.

Sun Sep 1 201316:12Seahawks sign Chris Harper to practice squad
Seahawks signed WR Chris Harper to their practice squad.
In a surprise, Harper passed through waivers despite being the 123rd overall pick in April's draft. In Seahawks camp, the Kansas State alum couldn't beat out Jermaine Kearse or Stephen Williams for a 53-man roster spot.

Thu Aug 29 201316:34Hawks rookie WR Harper on outside looking in?
The Seattle Times doesn't project fourth-round WR Chris Harper to make the Seahawks' final roster.
Harper is the No. 6 receiver in Seattle at the moment, and that doesn't include Percy Harvin (hip, PUP). Harper has the prototypical build of a red-zone/possession receiver at 6-foot-1, 229, but he lacks separation skills. He has just three catches for 23 yards this preseason. Jermaine Kearse and Stephen Williams have out-produced him. Harper will surely be kept on the practice squad if he passes through waivers. He'll see plenty of work Thursday night.

Wed Aug 7 201316:26Carroll praises rookie WR Chris Harper
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll praised fourth-round WR Chris Harper Wednesday.
"He's learning fast, he's a real smart kid," Carroll said. "He has improved right before our eyes in the things he was going earlier that he picked up on. He's doing a good job and we expect to see get the ball and do some things in (Friday's preseason opener)." A load of a man at 6-foot-1, 229 pounds, Percy Harvin's injury has increased Harper's odds of getting on the field as a rookie, but we still wouldn't expect him to see many snaps behind incumbent X receiver Golden Tate. Doug Baldwin will man the slot.
