Wed Sep 10 201404:54Moore had only 10 snaps on defense
Moore had only 10 snaps on defense, probably because he missed Matthew Stafford badly on a sack attempt before Stafford threw a long touchdown to Calvin Johnson, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Moore was a little out of control on the pass rush, and Stafford had little trouble evading him as a result. The Giants need Moore's pass-rushing skills now that Justin Tuck is gone, so he'll likely see more work in Week 2.

Sat Jun 7 201411:33Damontre Moore not ready to start yet
ESPN New York Giants reporter Dan Graziano does not believe second-year DE Damontre Moore will be "starter-ready" when the season begins.
The Giants are after defensive ends that can also play against the run, and veteran DE Mathias Kiwanuka or DE Robert Ayers offer more in that regard at this point. Despite his concerns about Moore today, Graziano does believe he could grab a starting spot as the season goes on. Moore is currently recovering from shoulder surgery but should be ready to go for training camp.

Giants second-year DE Damontre Moore underwent shoulder surgery after the season.
"It sucked, I couldn't get to sleep. It was horrible," Moore said of the minor offseason procedure. He's yet to be cleared to lift weights, but Moore is staying in shape by doing plenty of cardio. Once he's cleared, Moore wants to pack on 15 pounds of muscle for his sophomore season. The 81st pick in last April's draft could see an increased role if free agent LE Justin Tuck isn't re-signed.

The Giants are grooming third-round pick Damontre Moore to be a hybrid stand-up outside linebacker and down defensive end.
