The Jets waived/injured Sudfeld after he tore his ACL during Wednesday's minicamp practice, Newsday reports.
Sudfeld -- who caught five passes for 85 yards last season -- will be missed on special teams, with the Jets having added Steve Maneri to bolster their depth at tight end in the wake of Sudfeld's knee injury.

Sudfeld (knee) is having tests done on his injury Thursday and head coach Todd Bowles believes it is "more than just a minor injury," Rich Cimini of ESPN reports.
Sudfeld reportedly suffered from the injury after a hit from free safety Calvin Pryor, and it looks as if the injury could cost him some time. Sudfeld was rarely a part of the Jets' offense last season, as he was playing behind both Jeff Cumberland and Jace Amaro, and this injury sure doesn't help him as he looks to make a push for more playing time in 2015-16.

Sudfeld had two catches for 44 yards in Week 17's victory at Miami, the most notable moment of his season.
Sudfeld only collected seven targets on the year, rarely playing on offense - but three of those opportunities came in the final two weeks. Maybe he'll be in line for a notable bump in time next season. though the Jets have a collection of tight ends.

Sudfeld has taken some first-team reps with the Jets' offense of late, according to Manish Mehta of the Daily News.
Sudfeld generated some fantasy sleeper buzz last summer while with the Patriots, but he was eventually released in early October and then claimed by the Jets. The Jets also roster incumbent Jeff Cumberland and second-rounder Jace Amaro, so Sudfeld will need to have a great summer in order to re-emerge on the fantasy radar. The early returns are positive though, with coach Rex Ryan noting with regard to Sudfeld's preparation that the second-year TE is "studying like nobody's business."
Wed Jul 30 201413:32Zach Sudfeld getting first-team reps w/ Jets
Second-year TE Zach Sudfeld has been getting some first-team reps in Jets camp.
Sudfeld was overly hyped last summer. But he's a plus athlete at 6'7/253. "He's studying like nobody's business," said coach Rex Ryan. Sudfeld has a relatively clear path to playing time if he takes the next step in his development. Jeff Cumberland is a lumbering big-bodied tight end, while rookie Jace Amaro's first-year camp reviews have been anything but positive. Sudfeld deserves some attention in deep Dynasty leagues and could emerge on the re-draft map.

Sun Jul 27 201421:48Zach Sudfeld impressing at Jets camp
Second-year TE Zach Sudfeld has reportedly been the most impressive tight end so far at Jets camp.
Jeff Cumberland has been "relatively quiet," while second-round pick Jace Amaro has generally struggled and missed time with knee tendinitis. Positive news on Sudfeld may generate eyerolls in the fantasy community, but he still offers plus athleticism and stands 6'7/253. He probably won't make any fantasy noise in New York this season, but is worth monitoring in deep Dynasty leagues.

Sat Mar 8 201408:54Jets 'high' on second-year TE Sudfeld
The New York Daily News reports the Jets are "high" on second-year TE Zach Sudfeld's "potential."
The Jets aren't throwing in the towel on Sudfeld after re-signing Jeff Cumberland. A waiver claim from the Patriots last October, Sudfeld goes 6-foot-7, 253 with 4.78 wheels, soft hands, and a 37-inch vertical. He certainly has upside as a receiver, but must improve as a blocker and learn to better use his body.

Fri Oct 4 201316:22Jets claim Sudfeld off waivers from the Pats
Jets claimed TE Zach Sudfeld off waivers from the Patriots.
Sudfeld quickly fell out of fantasy favor when it became clear in Week 1 he wouldn't play a significant offensive role. He did, however, flash big-time pass-catching tools during the preseason and has impressive measurables. The 24-year-old is very much worth a flier for a Jets team with no long-term solution at tight end. Kellen Winslow and Jeff Cumberland aren't answers.

Thu Oct 3 201316:32Patriots waive offseason darling Zach Sudfeld
Patriots waived TE Zach Sudfeld.
Sudfeld generated a ton of hype with a strong offseason and training camp, but appeared utterly overwhelmed once the regular season began. Sudfeld was a tidal wave of mistakes, dropping passes and running the wrong routes. The final straw was likely his muffed attempt on an onside kick Sunday. Injury prone in college, Sudfeld also dealt with a hamstring injury. Sudfeld should earn some looks on waivers, but he's proven without a doubt he's too raw to make an impact this season. His release isn't necessarily a sign Rob Gronkowski will return in Week 5, as Sudfeld played just eight snaps in Week 4.

Mon Sep 30 201308:49Zach Sudfeld plays just eight snaps
Zach Sudfeld played on just eight snaps in Sunday night's win over the Falcons.
The Patriots decided to go three-wide as their base and use blocking tight end Michael Hoomanawanui 54 snaps. Sudfeld also bungled an on-side kick late in the game, leading to a near epic collapse for the Patriots. With Rob Gronkowski expected back by Week 6, Sudfeld could find himself as a gameday inactive soon.

Sun Sep 22 201317:07Zach Sudfeld held without a catch vs. Bucs
Zach Sudfeld was held without a catch in two targets in New England's Week 3 win over the Bucs.
Sudfeld may have run the wrong route on his first target, and got manhandled on his second, resulting in a Tom Brady interception. Both mistakes were on Brady as much as Sudfeld, but put simply, good things haven't happened when the Pats have targeted the rookie tight end this season. He'll be completely off the fantasy radar once Rob Gronkowski returns, which could be as early as next weekend.

Fri Sep 20 201316:24Zach Sudfeld expected to play in Week 3
Zach Sudfeld (hamstring, probable) turned in a full practice week.
Sudfeld is a deep sleeper Sunday against Tampa Bay, in the likely event Rob Gronkowski (back) is declared inactive. The Patriots are desperate for reliable pass catchers and could shake up their corps a bit in Week 3.

Wed Sep 18 201316:15Sudfeld practices in full for Patriots Weds.
Zach Sudfeld (hamstring) is practicing in full this week for the Patriots.
After missing Week 2, Sudfeld will likely give it a go this week against the Bucs. Despite all of the preseason hype, Sudfeld is not a start-able fantasy tight end at this point. We have him as our No. 32 tight end for Week 3.

Thu Sep 12 201319:00Sudfeld, Amendola, Gronk officially inactive
Patriots declared TE Zach Sudfeld, WR Danny Amendola, TE Rob Gronkowski, RB Brandon Bolden, G/T Will Svitek, LB Steve Beauharnais and DT Chris Jones inactive for Week 2 against the Jets.
WR Aaron Dobson is active. As is RB/KR Leon Washington, who could see some third-down snaps Thursday evening. Michael Hoomanawanui is getting the start at tight end, but shouldn't draw more than 3-4 targets. As NFL.com's Chris Wesseling pointed out on Twitter, Hoomanawanui has never cleared 50 yards in a game. Bolden's absence means LeGarrettte Blount could get some pretty decent run behind Stevan Ridley. Slot WR Julian Edelman is a strong bet to lead the Pats in targets this evening.

Wed Sep 11 201316:16Sudfeld questionable for Thursday night
Zach Sudfeld (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Thursday night's Week 2 game against the Jets.
Sudfeld put in a week of limited practices, just like most Patriots on the injury report. After posting a goose egg in the opener, Sudfeld is not a viable starting option this week at less than 100 percent.

Tue Sep 10 201317:10Zach Sudfeld still 'limited' on Tuesday
Patriots TE Zach Sudfeld (hamstring) remained limited in Tuesday's practice.
Sudfeld's status for Thursday's game against the Jets remains unclear. He briefly played through the injury in Sunday's win over the Bills, but was ineffective both before and after getting hurt. Sudfeld could end up a game-time decision. He's not a viable TE1 for Week 2.

Mon Sep 9 201317:23Zach Sudfeld 'limited' in Monday's practice
Patriots TE Zach Sudfeld (hamstring) was limited in Monday's practice.
The Pats didn't actually take the field ahead of their Thursday night game against the Jets, but were required to issue an injury report. Sudfeld played the injury on the final drive of Sunday's win, so there's a decent chance he'll be ready to go. Either way, he flopped in his bid to transfer hype into actual fantasy value against the Bills. He's not a viable starter.
