Waddle (knee/elbow) will be the Lions' starting right tackle when healthy, Josh Katzenstein of The Detroit News reports.
Though offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi's praise for Waddle is all well and good, the question remains whether Waddle will play Week 1. Waddle has been limited in practice this week and, though he says he feels good, he indicated that he will play it by ear on Sunday. If he's unable to go, Cornelius Lucas will get the start.
Wed Sep 9 201520:30Waddle (elbow
Waddle (elbow, knee) is unsure whether he'll be ready to go for the Lions' season opener on Sunday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Waddle is just eight months removed from surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and is reportedly also battling an elbow injury. After starting 18 games at right tackle over the past two seasons, he is listed as the first-team right tackle on Detroit's depth chart. Should he be unable to go on Sunday, Cornelius Lucas, who started four games at right tackle and one at left tackle last season, will likely get the start.

Waddle (knee) has been taken off of the physically unable to perform list, Josh Katzenstein of The Detroit News reports.
Waddle started 18 games over the past two seasons and has hopped over Cornelius Lucas for the starting right tackle job on the Lions' most recent depth chart. Waddle will be counted on to provide some stability to the right side of Detroit's line as starting right guard Larry Warford battles through an ankle injury.

Waddle (knee) got some work in on the sideline of Lions practice on Tuesday, David Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Cornelius Lucas currently sits atop the Lions' depth chart at RT, but a healthy Waddle could spark further competition for the spot. Waddle started 18 games over the past two seasons and is currently on the physically unable to perform list as he rehabs from a partially torn ACL in his left knee. He is expected to be ready by the beginning of the regular season.

Waddle expects to be ready for Week 1 of the regular season, Josh Katzenstein of The Detroit News reports.
Waddle suffered a partially torn ACL in his left knee last season and is working his way back. Having started 18 games over the past two seasons, Waddle would be a good bet to be the team's top RT if he wasn't on the physically unable to perform list. Cornelius Lucas is listed as the team's starting RT on the Lions' unofficial depth chart.

Lions GM Martin Mayhew said he is comfortable with LaAdrian Waddle and Corey Hilliard competing for the right tackle job.
Waddle started eight of the final nine games at right tackle as an undrafted rookie out of Texas Tech and graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 13 right tackle. Hilliard started seven games at right tackle but struggled badly as a run blocker and lost the job to Waddle midway through the season. Hilliard is best suited for a swing role. Waddle has great size at 6-foot-6, 321 pounds.
