Robey was signed to a multi-year contract extension Sunday, BuffaloBills.com reports.
Robey doesn't have much of a chance to start this season in what's one of the league's stronger defenses, but in an interesting foreshadowing dating back to the day he entered the planet, Robey has become the Bills' primary nickel cornerback. He's carved out a nice NFL career considering he was undrafted out of USC in 2013.

Robey finished the 2014 season, his second in the NFL, with 48 tackles, eight passes defensed, two fumble recoveries, and a sack. He played in all 16 games.
Not bad numbers for a guy who wasn't even drafted and saw a modest 58.9 percent of the defensive snaps. Unfortunately, it seems like Stephon Gilmore, Leodis McKelvin, and Corey Graham will all be around for another season, so even though Rex Ryan should be putting out a dangerous defense in 2015, Robey may be limited in just how much he sees the field. Injuries may be the one angle where he'd have IDP value.

Through four games, Robey has eight total tackles and a pass defensed.
Considering he was an undrafted free agent in 2013, Robey has done pretty well just to land a secure job the last two seasons. However, the addition of Corey Graham to the mix this season has dropped Robey to No. 4 or No. 5 in the cornerback pecking order. While he is seeing action on 66 percent of the defensive snaps, the fact he's a corner and not racking up a bunch of tackles on a per play basis should keep him off your IDP radar for now.
Sat Jul 6 201309:27Mike Pettine praises rookie CB Nickell Robey
Bills defensive coordinator Mike Pettine praised undrafted rookie CB Nickell Robey for his work during OTAs.
"You could tell he was very well coached at Southern California," said Pettine. "He's made big plays in big games. I don't think it will be too big for him." Robey will compete with Justin Rogers and Ron Brooks for nickel corner duties. Robey is the least experienced of the three, but did play both outside and inside at USC.

Sat Jun 29 201321:28Bills impressed with UDFA Nickell Robey
Undrafted rookie CB Nickell Robey worked with the Bills' first-team defense during OTAs.
With Leodis McKelvin (groin) sidelined, Robey was used at left cornerback opposite Stephon Gilmore, with Justin Rogers in the slot. 2012 fourth-round pick Ron Brooks is also expected to see playing time in sub packages. Robey will compete with Crezdon Butler and T.J. Heath for a spot on the 53-man roster.
