Brown was waived by the Bucs on Tuesday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers official website reports.

After being listed inactive Week 1, Brown got on the field for nine defensive snaps and 10 additional plays on special teams this past Sunday against the Saints. The 27-year-old linebacker/defensive end was claimed off waivers by Tampa after being a part of the Texans' final cuts, despite an impressive preseason in which he posted three sacks, an interception returned for a touchdown and a fumble recovery. Brown's roster spot was filled by the signing of former Chief Josh Martin.

Brown recorded his team-high third sack of the preseason in Thursday night's game against the Cowboys.

Brown had a nice preseason, making an impact play in all four games. He's done enough to make the roster as depth outside linebacker.

Brown played a team-high 40 snaps on defense in Houston's preseason Week 3 game against the Saints.

For the third straight preseason game, Brown made a play, this time recovering a fumble. He had two sacks in the opener followed by an interception return for a touchdown in preseason Week 2.

Brown's made a few plays in the two preseason games thus far; he also had two sacks in preseason Week 1 against the 49ers. He's currently a depth option competing for a roster spot at outside linebacker, but if he continues to make plays, Brown will secure one of those roster spots.

While Brown got most of his work in the second half when the second and third units were in the game, these kinds of plays get noticed by the coaches. Now he has to make plays of equivalent impact on special teams to secure a roster spot.
