DeVito (Achilles) returned to the field in the preseason opener against the Cardinals, recording one solo tackle on 10 snaps.

DeVito (Achilles) indicated Monday that he felt healthy, but cautioned "you never know until you get out there," Adam Teicher of ESPN reports.
DeVito's 2014 campaign ended prematurely due to a torn Achilles, holding him to just one game for the season with just an assisted tackle. He restructured a one-year contract with the Chiefs in the offseason, and will likely start at defensive end once again in 2015.

DeVito agreed to a restructured one-year contract with the Chiefs for the 2015 season Monday, Adam Teicher of ESPN reports.
DeVito lost most of the 2014 season due to a ruptured Achilles tendon, sending him to injured reserve. With more risk involved with him in 2015, the Chiefs were likely to release the defensive end if he didn't take a pay cut, as he would have cut $5.4 million out of the team's salary-cap money. He has decided to take the cut to remain with the team, and will instead only cost the Chiefs $2.9 million in 2015. Assuming he returns to his previous form, he could be in line to start next season.

DeVito's Achilles injury comes during the same game Pro Bowl linebacker Derrick Johnson also endured an Achilles issue. Additionally, neither player will return to Sunday's game, leaving the Chiefs without two starters on defense.

Sun Mar 24 201313:52Chiefs to use Mike DeVito as 2-down player
The Chiefs plan to use new DE Mike DeVito as an early-down defender who leaves the field in the nickel package.
In other words, they'll use DeVito to his strength. "There's nothing else I'd rather be doing," DeVito said. "I want to hit and be physical every play. If I don't hit somebody, I know something is wrong. That first- and second-down run game, that's where I live." The Chiefs' defensive front seven looks all set besides the inside linebacker position next to Derrick Johnson.

Free agent DE Mike DeVito will test the market.

Sat Mar 9 201317:50Jets still hope to re-sign DE Mike DeVito
The Jets hope to re-sign DE Mike DeVito before the start of free agency, but the Newark Star-Ledger reports as many as six teams have "inquired" since the beginning of Saturday's legal tampering period.
ESPN New York believes DeVito is the "best bet to stick around" of the Jets' in-house free agents, but Gang Green is going to have to pay up if he's truly drawing interest from six teams. It would be unwise to overpay for a player who turns 29 in July and doesn't play passing downs.

Fri Mar 8 201321:11Mike DeVito is priority for the Jets
The Jets are expected to make free agent DE Mike DeVito a "priority" ahead of Tuesday's commencement of the signing period.
It sounds like the sides will be negotiating this weekend. Beat writer Manish Mehta is skeptical of whether the Jets can afford DeVito, despite what will probably be a middling price tag. DeVito is a one-dimensional run stopper.

Jets coach Rex Ryan says he doesn't know the role incumbent LE Mike DeVito will handle after the addition of Quinton Coples.
Ryan called Coples the Jets' new starting left end, but regretted it soon after. "I really can't tell you (DeVito's) exact role right now," Ryan said. "I shouldn't have said that about Quinton either. ... I can tell you this about Mike DeVito: He is an outstanding football player." The Jets did recently pay DeVito a $500K roster bonus. He'll likely be a reserve in 2012.

Wed Dec 14 201119:22Jets DE DeVito to return in Week 15
Jets DE Mike DeVito (knee) is expected back from his knee injury in Week 15.
This would be discouraging news for LeSean McCoy if this year's No. 1 overall fantasy running back wasn't matchup-proof. DeVito has been a stud run defender this season, also racking up 25 tackles and a sack through nine starts.
