Moore is currently on short-term injured reserve and will miss the entire regular season, but is on track to return for the playoffs. He hasn't had any setbacks in his recovery from lower leg surgery and was cleared to resume weight training this week. An every-down player before getting hurt, Moore should immediately regain his starting role from Mike Adams when healthy. He had 44 tackles and two interceptions in 10 games prior to going down.

Moore's regular season is over, but he'll have a chance to return if the Broncos make the AFC Championship Game. Moore's injury - essentially internal bleeding in his leg - required emergency surgery early Monday morning. An every-down player before getting hurt, the 23-year-old Moore was in the midst of a workmanlike campaign. He was playing very well in coverage. Veteran Mike Adams will take his place in the starting lineup, while Michael Huff is taking his roster spot.

Broncos assistant secondary coach Sam Garnes said S Rahim Moore made a "big jump" as a tackler in his second season.
"His rookie year, he struggled in the tackling department and he went 180 degrees as far as tackling. He did a great job tackling, which I know contributed to us being pretty good against the run," said Garnes. Despite his notable stuggles against the Ravens in last year's Divisional Round, Moore had a solid season grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 10 safety. He has intriguing IDP upside in 2013.

Broncos VP of Football Operations John Elway reiterated his confidence in Rahim Moore as Denver's starting free safety.
"Yes, they are," Elway said when asked whether Moore and SS Mike Adams are still starters. The Broncos didn't sign a free-agent safety, or draft one. Although Moore was a playoff goat, he graded out as a top-ten safety in Pro Football Focus' 2012 regular season ratings and recorded 72 tackles with one INT.

Rahim Moore is expected to return as the Broncos' starting free safety in 2013, with Mike Adams staying at strong safety.
Moore was victimized on Jacoby Jones' 70-yard touchdown at the end of regulation in the Divisional Round, and has managed just two interceptions through 31 NFL games. Ball skills were supposed to be his calling card coming out of UCLA. Pro Football Focus did grade Moore as a top-ten overall safety in 2012, so he wasn't a regular season liability. Adams was 27th among 88 qualifiers.

Moore was believed to be in direct competition with Adams at free safety, but he's now viewed as a legit option at strong safety after bulking up considerably in the upper body. The three safeties could end up in a rotation if Moore doesn't impress enough in camp to win a starting job outright.
