Williams is on track to start at defensive tackle for the Raiders this season, Scott Bair of CSN reports.
Williams, who signed with Oakland this offseason after five seasons with the Cardinals, appears to be the favorite to start alongside Justin Ellis in the team's base defense. A former first-round draft pick, Williams provides his 6-foot-2, 330 pound frame that will aid in shutting down opposing teams' inside run games. He had 31 tackles and one sack in 16 games with the Cardinals last season.
Wed Mar 11 201511:36Williams will sign with Raiders
Williams will sign with the Raiders, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Williams has been a constant presence along the Cardinals defensive line for the past five seasons, but will change colors to black and silver for 2015. The defensive tackle hasn't done much to make him a valuable fantasy commodity, but finished 2014 with 31 tackles (20 solo), one sack and one pass defensed.

Williams took the field for 30 of the Cardinals' 64 defensive snaps in Sunday's victory at Dallas, FOX Sports 910 Phoenix reports.
Williams' best game of the season aided in Arizona's defense corralling DeMarco Murray for the first time in 2014. In order to do so, coordinator Todd Bowles made the strategic decision to trot out a four-man front, and Williams responded with seven tackles (three solo), two tackles for loss, and one sack. If the Cardinals revert to their typical formations going forward -- either 3-3-5 or 3-2-6 -- Williams' time in the IDP spotlight could quickly evaporate, as he entered Week 9 with 12 tackles (10 solo) in the season's first seven contests.

Williams may play defensive end at times following the loss of Darnell Dockett (knee) for the season, the Cardinals' official site reports. "I played it a little bit last year toward the end of the season, trying to spell Calais and Dockett for a few reps," Williams said. "I'm definitely going to do anything the coaches ask me."
Williams has been injured at times during his four-year career yet still averaged 31.3 tackles in 13.5 games per season. If he's rushing the quarterback away from his customary spot at nose tackle, there's a high likelihood that he adds to his meager sack total of one to date. However, even with additional responsibilities, his IDP prospects won't approach that of line mates Calais Campbell and Dockett's replacement Frostee Rucker.

Cardinals NT Dan Williams suffered a right ankle injury in Saturday's preseason game.

Sat Jun 22 201322:49Cardinals praise DT Williams for conditioning
Cardinals coach Bruce Arians praised DT Dan Williams for his conditioning during the team's minicamp last week.
Williams has dealt with weight issues since entering the league in 2010, but is reportedly at an impressive 314 pounds. With the Cardinals moving to a 4-3 defense, he could be asked to stay on the field more in passing situations. "Lost a ton of weight, looks fantastic," Arians said. "If he wants to rush the passer, he's got to stay down at that weight."

Wed Jul 25 201212:57Dan Williams arrives at 314 pounds
Cardinals NT Dan Williams checked into training camp at 314 pounds.
It's notable because Williams has struggled with weight and conditioning ever since the Cards took him 26th overall in 2010. With his broken arm healed and weight down, he has a stranglehold on the starting nose tackle gig. The Cardinals ranked 21st against the run last season.

Thu Jan 5 201210:50Cards NT Williams says he'll stay in shape
Cardinals NT Dan Williams promises to spend the bulk of the offseason at the team facility to stay in shape after battling weight problems during his first two NFL seasons.
"There was a lot of immaturity on my part," Williams admitted. "It was my first time out of college, I had a lot of money, and I didn't have to be up here for anything so I really learned my lesson. But I'll be spending all of my time here in the Valley and working with Coach (John) Lott." Williams' second season ended on injured reserve with two fractured bones in his left arm.

Tue Nov 22 201115:48Cardinals place NT Dan Williams on I.R.
Cardinals placed NT Dan Williams (fractured arm) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Arizona has been high on sixth-round rookie David Carter, but he's built more like a defensive end at 6'5/297 whereas Williams was a prototypical stout run plugger. Upgrade opposing running backs against the Cardinals down the stretch. Williams should return as the starter in 2012.

Sun Nov 20 201120:25Report: Cardinals NT Williams done for season
The Arizona Republic reports that Cardinals NT Dan Williams is done for the year with a fractured left arm.
Apparently, it's not something he'll be able to play through with a club or brace. Williams, the 26th overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft, was finally showing signs of realizing his potential this year. Pro Football Focus has graded Williams positively against the run after a disappointing rookie season, and Arizona doesn't have another 330-pound defensive lineman to fill the void. This is an injury that could impact fantasy matchups down the stretch.

Next year, I'll know the proper steps and I'll put this behind me," Williams said. The 2010 first-rounder is still expected to start come Week 1.
