Tue May 19 201510:47Lewis expected to start at free safety
Lewis is expected to start at free safety, The Baltimore Sun reports.
Lewis has started 66 games through five NFL seasons, and while he won't be mistaken for a superstar, he should be a big help to the Baltimore secondary. With Lewis all but assured of the starting job at free safety, Will Hill is transitioning to strong safety, making him the more attractive IDP option.
Sat Mar 14 201517:00Lewis agreed to three-year contract with Baltimore on Saturday
Lewis agreed to a three-year contract with Baltimore on Saturday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Lewis started for the Texans in 2014 and for the vast majority of his four seasons in Kansas City prior to that, so he possesses a great deal of starting experience. It's a reassuring signing for a team that probably can't count on any of Will Hill, Matt Elam or Terrence Brooks (knee) at safety.

Lewis has had a part in four of Houston's 12 turnovers through the five games this season. He's also third on the team with 30 tackles and 23 solo takedowns.
Lewis has forced three fumbles (two of which became turnovers), recovered one and has an interception so far and is thriving under defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel.

Lewis returned to practice Tuesday after missing time due to a hip flexor, CSN Houston reports.
Lewis returns to the field just in time for Houston's first preseason game Saturday against the Cardinals. At present, Lewis is listed as a starting safety on the team's depth chart, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Fri Mar 21 201416:39Texans sign FS Kendrick Lewis
Texans signed FS Kendrick Lewis, formerly of the Chiefs.
Those snickers you hear are coming from Chiefs fans who badly wanted Lewis to leave Kansas City after four unsuccessful seasons as a starter. Lewis, 26 in June, would be better off as a third safety and special teamer. In Houston, he's reuniting with old Chiefs DC and head coach Romeo Crennel. The Texans are believed to be mulling the release of longtime FS starter Danieal Manning.

Sun Mar 2 201412:54Chiefs not expected to re-sign FS Lewis
The Chiefs aren't expected to re-sign free agent FS Kendrick Lewis.
Lewis, 26 in June, struggled against both the run and pass last season and has just one interception and zero forced fumbles the past two years. He was disruptive early in his career, but injuries have played a part in slowing Lewis down. Lewis might have to settle for a one-year deal to rehab his value.

Chiefs FS Kendrick Lewis triggered an escalator in his rookie deal, raising his 2013 salary from $575,000 to $1.323 million.
A year after starting all 16 games, Lewis battled a right shoulder injury to start the 2012 season, causing him to miss seven contests. Lewis was never really the same player we saw his first two seasons. He's entering the final year of his contract.

Thu Oct 11 201218:40Chiefs FS Lewis expected back this week
Chiefs FS Kendrick Lewis (shoulder) expects to return to game action Sunday for the first time this season.
Lewis still has to get the green light from coach Romeo Crennel, but he expects to start at Tampa. Although fill-in Abram Elam may be better in run support, he doesn't have Lewis' range in coverage.

Sun Aug 19 201220:45Kendrick Lewis suffers shoulder injury
Chiefs FS Kendrick Lewis will miss "a bit of time," according to coach Romeo Crennel, after injuring his right shoulder in Kansas City's second preseason game.
It's the same shoulder/pectoral area that required Lewis to undergo January surgery, and his arm was in a sling after the game. "It's a different injury," Crennel assured. "He has to have no surgery or anything like that, but he has to rest that shoulder and immobilize it a little bit before we can start movement."

Tue May 22 201222:53Chiefs FS Lewis recovering from torn pectoral
Chiefs FS Kendrick Lewis' January surgery was actually to repair a torn pectoral, and he's unsure if he'll be ready for training camp.
It was originally reported that Lewis had undergone shoulder surgery. "Whenever the trainers say it's cool for me," Lewis said when asked when he might return. "I'm just playing it by ear. ... Everything is going smooth, according to plan." Per beat writer Adam Teicher, Lewis is getting around well at OTAs, and it "doesn't appear that his absence will be a prolonged one." With Eric Berry (ACL surgery) and fifth-round rookie De'Quan Menzie (hamstring) also sidelined, CB Travis Daniels and undrafted rookie Terrance Parks are running as the Chiefs' first-team safeties. It's notable that Donald Washington is not.

Sun Dec 4 201114:56Kendrick Lewis missing with knee injury
Chiefs FS Kendrick Lewis was forced from Sunday's game against the Bears with a right knee injury, and is questionable to return.
Lewis went down late in the first half, and was absent for Kansas City's first defensive series of the second. Despite the questionable designation, his afternoon is likely through. The Chiefs' best safety, a prolonged absence for Lewis would be bad news for a defense that's been playing inspired football the past few weeks.

Chiefs FS Kendrick Lewis was able to play the entire game in Week 11 after missing two weeks with a hamstring injury.

Wed Aug 11 201011:02Lewis remains on track to unseat McGraw
Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star writes that rookie SS Kendrick Lewis remains on track to unseat veteran Jon McGraw.
Said defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel on his young secondary, "They have great attitudes. They run around and they try to make things happen." The Chiefs' secondary got a youth infusion this offseason, and McGraw doesn't have the skill set to hold off the more talented and hungry Lewis.

Tue Jun 29 201016:54Chiefs sign rookie S Kendrick Lewis
Chiefs signed fifth-round S Kendrick Lewis to a multi-year contract.
With Jarrad Page unsigned and firmly on the trade block, Lewis spend the offseason rotating first-team snaps with veteran Jon McGraw. A physical run defender with more range than McGraw, Lewis could open the season as the starting free safety opposite Eric Berry.
Mon Jun 7 201015:32Kendrick Lewis gets first-team reps
Chiefs fifth-round pick Kendrick Lewis is running with the first-team defense at OTAs.
Lewis, a pure "box" safety, was presumably on the strong side with Eric Berry at free safety. Ideally, Berry will win the strong position once free safety Jarrad Page returns to workouts. Lewis would then focus on covering kicks.
