Terminated. It's a surprise because "Terminator" Conner out-blocked Orson Charles in Bengals camp, but the organization is higher on Charles' upside in the fullback role. Conner may generate some interest at his $630,000 cost.

Jets FB John Conner (knee) has been ruled out for Week 3 against the Dolphins.

Sun Aug 26 201211:47FB Conner not a lock for the 53-man roster
Jets FB John Conner is not assured of a spot on the team's 53-man roster.
TE Josh Baker is a lock to make the team and can play the position. ESPN New York's Rich Cimini points to the diminishing role of the fullback as the reason why Conner may not stick, but the Jets intend in relying heavily on the run. It would be a moderate surprise if the "Terminator" was waived.

Jets FB John Conner is working to improve his pass-catching skills at Mark Sanchez's offseason camps.
Tony Richardson had only nine catches in three years with the Jets. Already a bone-crushing blocker and productive special teamer, Conner is trying to improve his versatility. "When you talk about John, he immediately gets put into that `Terminator' role," OC Brian Schottenheimer said. "That's what everybody talks about. But you're talking about a guy who's an awfully good athlete."

Tue Mar 1 201111:48John Conner to be Jets' starting fullback
The New York Daily News confirms that John Conner will be the Jets' starting lead blocker in 2011.
"The Terminator" flashed beastly potential by paving the way for Joe McKnight's 173-total yard Week 17 effort, but never topped 20 snaps in any other game. He didn't even play a down in the playoffs. Conner is clearly the team's lead blocker. Free agent Tony Richardson is unlikely to be retained.

Thu Jan 27 201109:19Jets expected to promote Conner
The Jets are expected to move on from free agent Tony Richardson this offseason, and make John Conner their starting lead blocker.
Richardson's play tailed off dramatically in 2010, while in his lone start Conner paved the way for Joe McKnight's unlikely 173-total yard Week 17 game. Conner is ready for the job full time. He'll help Shonn Greene's cause in 2011.

Sun Jan 2 201117:00The Terminator notches first career touchdown
John Conner rushed 8 times for 44 yards and a touchdown in Week 17.
It took Conner 17 weeks to earn himself a post-game blurb, as "The Terminator" had zero carries and two receptions heading into the season finale. Conner came about an inch from losing a fumble at the end of his 16-yard touchdown rumble, but the booth rightfully let the touchdown stand. Conner played second fiddle to Joe McKnight, running hard on each of his carries. He won't be a factor as a runner or receiver in the playoffs.
Wed Aug 18 201023:00John Conner to overtake Richardson?
Jets RBs coach Anthony Lynn indicated on Wednesday's episode of HBO's Hard Knocks that rookie John Conner could overtake Tony Richardson to be the team's starting fullback.
The entire Jets staff, from Rex Ryan on down, is clearly a fan of "our fullback from Kentucky." Conner impressed with physical lead blocking in the team's preseason opener Monday night. The Jets may ultimately have to keep both fullbacks, potentially costing a tailback like Joe McKnight a roster spot. McKnight is not generating much confidence from Lynn, Ryan, and Co.
Tue Aug 3 201013:02Ryan raves about rookie Conner
Coach Rex Ryan has raved about the play of rookie fullback John Conner.
"That Kentucky kid showed up today; he was out there thumping people,'' Ryan said. "He took the breath out of three linebackers out there. I've never seen that before. Now you know why he has such a short neck.'' Conner won't beat out veteran Tony Richardson, but he'll be groomed to eventually replace him and appears to already be winning over the coaching staff.
