Peters, who went down with an injury early during Wednesday's practice, suffered a torn left Achilles, ArizonaSports.com reports.
Peters, who also ruptured his right Achilles in 2013, was in line to start at nose tackle for the Cardinals throughout the 2015 season. With Peters out for the year, Rodney Gunter will be thrust into Arizona's starting lineup. The road to recovery is a long one for Peters, but he has gotten through it before and will look to bounce back next year in 2016.

Coach Bruce Arians said Monday that Peters will start at nose tackle during the 2015 season, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
The Cardinals inked Peters to a three-year deal in the offseason, but this is the first indication that he'll be a part of the first-team defense. Since joining the offseason program, his leadership ability has been noted often, which has seemingly afforded him first shot at nose tackle over holdover Alameda Ta'amu. In five previous seasons with the Falcons, Peters accumulated 145 tackles (100 solo), 11 sacks, one interception, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery for a touchdown in 71 games.

Fri Sep 5 201415:24Peters (Achilles) probable for Sunday's game against New Orleans
Peters (Achilles) is probable for Sunday's game against New Orleans.
Peters' Achilles' tendon rupture occurred just two days before Christmas, but it appears he's enjoyed a rapid recovery and will be able to contribute a significant snap count toward Atlanta's defensive effort Sunday. He's not likely to be an IDP factor, but his presence is a welcome one in Atlanta's front seven.
Mon Aug 18 201412:43Peters (Achilles) returned to practice Monday
Peters (Achilles) returned to practice Monday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Peters is coming off Achilles' surgery, which landed him on Atlanta's PUP list to begin this season. Coming off a career-best five sacks in 15 starts last season, Peters once again figures to factor into the Falcons' defensive line rotation, although his playing time could be impacted by the additions of Tyson Jackson and Paul Soliai this offseason. Nonetheless, Peters will hope to be ready for the regular season and stake his claim for a role similar to last season's.
Tue Jul 22 201418:10Falcons DT Peters beginning camp on PUP list
Falcons placed DT Corey Peters (Achilles') on the active/PUP list.
He'll be joined there by second-year S Zeke Motta (neck). Peters went down last Week 16, so it's far from a guarantee that he'll be ready for the regular season. He's a candidate to sit out training camp and revert to reserve/PUP, which would cost him the first six games.

Mon Mar 3 201420:30Falcons talking contract with three of own
The Falcons have begun contract talks with free agents DT Corey Peters, DT Jonathan Babineaux, and C/G Joe Hawley.
Babineaux has already expressed a desire to re-sign. Hawley is viewed as one of the Falcons' top priorities. Peters is coming off a torn Achilles' and is facing another 4-6 months of rehab. None of the three should be expensive to retain, but the Falcons need to seek upgrades on both lines. They need players who can get to the quarterback and ones that can protect Matt Ryan.

Falcons DT Corey Peters (Achilles' surgery) is facing 6-8 months of rehab.
Peters blew out his heel during the Monday night loss at San Francisco. It's atrocious timing as he'll be an unrestricted free agent in March. "The rehabilitation time on an Achilles is going to put us close to the start of next season, so he's going to have to get it going and hit it," coach Mike Smith said. Peters' fourth NFL season ends with career-highs in tackles (46) and sacks (5).

Falcons DT Corey Peters was spotted with a brace on his left knee Monday.

Mon Oct 15 201216:38Corey Peters needs to get in game shape
Falcons coach Mike Smith indicated Monday that DT Corey Peters (foot, PUP) needs to get in game shape before he's activated to the 53-man roster.
Peters came on as one of the most promising young interior linemen in football last season, before suffering a stress fracture during the 2012 offseason program. Smith was vague about Peters' availability, saying he could be activated as soon as next week or 21 days from now. Peters' return would add another talented body to an Atlanta defense that has scuffled versus the run.
