Peters, who also ruptured his right Achilles in 2013, was in line to start at nose tackle for the Cardinals throughout the 2015 season. With Peters out for the year, Rodney Gunter will be thrust into Arizona's starting lineup. The road to recovery is a long one for Peters, but he has gotten through it before and will look to bounce back next year in 2016.

Coach Bruce Arians said Monday that Peters will start at nose tackle during the 2015 season, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.

The Cardinals inked Peters to a three-year deal in the offseason, but this is the first indication that he'll be a part of the first-team defense. Since joining the offseason program, his leadership ability has been noted often, which has seemingly afforded him first shot at nose tackle over holdover Alameda Ta'amu. In five previous seasons with the Falcons, Peters accumulated 145 tackles (100 solo), 11 sacks, one interception, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery for a touchdown in 71 games.
