Fri Mar 20 201516:10Moore re-signed with Dolphins on Friday
Moore re-signed with the Dolphins on Friday.
Moore has spent the past four seasons in Miami, where he'll continue to serve as the Dolphins' second-string to starter Ryan Tannehill at quarterback this upcoming season.
Mon Mar 16 201514:26Moore would like to stay with Miami
Moore would like to stay with Miami, according to the Miami Herald.
Moore realizes that he could have an opportunity for more playing time elsewhere but is comfortable with being the backup to Ryan Tannehill as long as the team will pay him the going rate for a top backup quarterback. With Miami still approximately $16 million under the salary cap and the organization in win now mode, a deal is likely to be struck.
Wed Sep 24 201421:57Moore hasn't taken any snaps with first team offense this week
Moore hasn't taken any snaps with the first team offense this week, according to the Miami Herald's Adam Beasley.
Coach Joe Philbin has made some noise this week about possibly not starting Ryan Tannehill across the pond but if that was true one would have to think that Moore would be getting a few first team snaps. This is more than likely just saber rattling by Philbin.
Tue Aug 5 201421:34Moore (shoulder) returned to full practice Tuesday
Moore (shoulder) returned to full practice Tuesday, according to the Miami Herald's Adam Beasley.
Moore will be the backup to Ryan Tannehill this season. He was limited a couple of days in practice due to a sore shoulder.
Fri Aug 1 201422:02Moore (shoulder) will miss next three to four days
Moore (shoulder) will miss the next three to four days, according to Miami Herald's Armando Salguero.
The injury isn't considered to be all that serious but Miami could still elect to hold Moore out of the first pre-season game.
Sun Mar 2 201410:50Dolphins haven't asked Moore to take pay cut
The Dolphins have not approached QB Matt Moore about a pay cut.
Moore is owed $4 million in the final year of his two-year deal. Per the Miami Herald, the Bucs pursued Moore last March. New Dolphins GM Dennis Hickey was in that Tampa Bay front office and may be a fan of the backup quarterback.

Fri Mar 8 201308:36Miami further thins QB market, re-signs Moore
Dolphins re-signed QB Matt Moore.
Contract details aren't yet available. The move further dilutes the wafer-thin quarterback market, and is an indication Moore wasn't expecting to draw serious interest as a starter. The deal should make him one of the league's better paid backups, as the Dolphins clearly value his veteran presence behind franchise QB Ryan Tannehill. The "top" of the QB market now consists of Brian Hoyer (RFA), Chase Daniel, Jason Campbell and David Garrard. There's never been a worse time to need a quarterback.

Wed Mar 6 201315:42What to expect in the March 9-12 FA window
The NFL's Weekend Window for teams to negotiate with player reps begins on Saturday at midnight.
So, Friday night if you'll be burning midnight oil with Rotoworld. (We'll be up all night long, baby.) The window extends until 3:59PM ET on Tuesday, at which point teams can formally sign players. During the Weekend Window, players can not make club-facility visits, and only reps for unrestricted free agents -- not RFAs -- are allowed to negotiate. We don't expect an overwhelming amount of hard news over the weekend, but plenty of buzz should emanate.

Mon Mar 4 201315:38Browns may have interest in Matt Moore
Mike Jurecki of XTRA Phoenix is "hearing" the Browns may have interest in free agent Matt Moore.
New Cleveland OC Norv Turner is a known fan of Moore, and the Cleveland Plain Dealer has repeatedly called Moore a stopgap option for the Browns' quarterback position. NFL free agents can commence formal negotiations with teams on March 9, and sign beginning on March 12. Moore is the top free-agent QB available.

Sun Feb 24 201310:56Dolphins desperately want Matt Moore back
Dolphins OC Mike Sherman called free agent Matt Moore "five times last week alone" in an effort to encourage Moore back to Miami.
The Dolphins want Moore back "badly," but it's unrealistic to think he'll re-sign unless Moore simply decides he wants to hold a clipboard. (Marc Bulger, Kyle Orton, and Billy Volek have done that in recent years.) We still expect Moore to pursue an opportunity to start, and teams like Cleveland, Arizona, and the Jets could give him a much more realistic chance than Miami.

Sat Feb 23 201316:47Matt Moore to end up with the Browns?
Cleveland Plain Dealer columnist Terry Pluto "guesses" that the Browns will sign Matt Moore if they sign a free agent quarterback this offseason.
He admits it's "just a guess," but Pluto is more plugged in than most newspaper columnists and is a respected NFL mind. The prediction also jibes with a recent Miami Herald report that new Browns OC Norv Turner is a "big fan" of Moore. If the Browns signed Moore, he'd immediately become the favorite to start over Brandon Weeden. Cleveland would likely also draft a quarterback.

Sat Feb 23 201315:12Report: Matt Moore could fetch $5M annually
The Palm Beach Post says free agent Matt Moore "could fetch" a two- or three-year deal at $5 million per season.
Moore is hitting the free agent market at the right time. If we remove Joe Flacco's name from the list, Moore is the top free-agent quarterback available. Moore is reportedly looking for a team that will allow him to compete for the starting job, and is closer to his home in California. The Post mentions the Cardinals and Jets as the top suitors, along with the Browns, Bills, and Vikings.

Sun Feb 17 201314:27Norv Turner a 'big fan' of QB Matt Moore
According to the Miami Herald, new Browns offensive coordinator Norv Turner is a "big fan" of impending free agent Matt Moore.
Turner has never coached Moore, but Norv's Chargers were believed to be among the teams interested in Moore just after the 2011 NFL lockout. Instead of backing up Philip Rivers, Moore signed a two-year deal with the Dolphins for a better chance to start. The Dolphins want Moore back to hold the clipboard for Ryan Tannehill, but the Browns could offer a chance for legitimate playing time.

Sun Jan 20 201311:03Moore an option for Jets at quarterback?
The New York Post mentions impending free agent Matt Moore as a possibility for the Jets.
The Post also names veteran quarterbacks Tarvaris Jackson, Jason Campbell, and David Garrard as potential options to battle Mark Sanchez for the starting job in 2013. Moore is the youngest of the quartet, though, and is regarded as one of the best backup signal callers in the league. The Jets aren't expected to have the cap space to target higher-priced veterans like Alex Smith, Michael Vick, or Matt Flynn this offseason.

Sat Jan 19 201316:36GM to Moore: 'You always have a job in Miami'
Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland told impending free agent Matt Moore "you always have a job in Miami."
Moore is tentatively expected to test the open market in hopes of landing a job somewhere where he can at least compete for a starting job. If that doesn't pan out, he can always return to the cushiest job in sports as a backup quarterback to Ryan Tannehill.

Wed Jan 16 201313:32Matt Moore will seek starting job on market
According to the Miami Herald, impending free agent Matt Moore will seek a starting job.
In other words, he's not looking to make like Kyle Orton and nab the best job in sports, backup quarterback. With nearly a third of the league in search of new signal callers, Moore may well land a starting gig on the open market. However, it would be stunning if he signed as anything other than a bridge quarterback to a younger player.

Sun Jan 13 201308:09Dolphins QB Moore to test free agent market
Free agent Matt Moore has informed the Dolphins that he plans to test the open market barring an "incredible offer" from Miami.
He won't get an incredible offer from the Fins, so free agency it will be. Moore, 28, recorded a 16:9 TD-to-INT ratio, 7.2 YPA, and 60.5 completion rate across 12 starts in 2011. Although he is better suited to a backup role, there are enough QB-needy teams around the NFL that Moore should generate interest.

Wed Oct 31 201216:55Matt Moore listed on the Week 9 injury report
Matt Moore was listed on the Dolphins Week 9 injury report with a calf injury, but was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.
The fact that Moore practiced fully suggests this injury is not a concern for his Week 9 status. However, all signs are pointing to Ryan Tannehill (knee, quad) starting on Sunday against the Colts after the rookie was limited in practice on Wednesday.

Fri Aug 31 201216:35Report: Dolphins fielding calls for QB Moore
The Dolphins have reportedly received multiple phone calls from teams looking to trade for QB Matt Moore.
With David Garrard (knee) nearing a return, GM Jeff Ireland would probably love to get a draft pick for Moore. Keep an eye on Denver, as the Broncos have a desperate need for a veteran backup to Peyton Manning. Offensive coordinator Mike McCoy worked with Moore in Carolina.

Sat Aug 18 201200:34Matt Moore goes 5-of-15 Friday night
Matt Moore completed 5-of-15 passes for 57 yards in the Dolphins' Friday night preseason game against the Panthers.
Moore's preseason stats stand at 12-of-27 (44.4 percent) for 136 yards (5.04 YPA), no touchdowns and an interception. Ryan Tannehill fell back a bit Friday after a tremendous exhibition opener, but it's not going to matter if Moore continues to play this poorly. He struggled against Panthers second- and third-team defenders in this one. Moore isn't helping his trade stock, either.
