Mon Aug 10 201521:16Darryl Tapp Lions' starting left defensive end
Darryl Tapp is the Lions' starting left defensive end, the team's unofficial depth chart reports.
When evaluating Tapp's position atop the depth chart, it must be noted that projected starter Jason Jones is currently on the PUP list. Tapp comes to Detroit after a season in Washington, during which he played outside linebacker. Since his rookie season, Tapp has failed to register more than three sacks in a single season. With Ndamukong Suh now in Miami, the Lions will be depending on its edge rushers to generate more of a pass rush, making the battle to start opposite Ezekiel Ansah one worth watching through the preseason.

Lions signed DE/LB Darryl Tapp, formerly of the Redskins.
Tapp, 29, is a special teamer and reserve edge player. He does not figure to push for significant defensive playing time barring multiple injuries.

Sat Apr 13 201322:38Redskins moving Darryl Tapp to linebacker
The Washington Post confirms the Redskins are moving Darryl Tapp to outside linebacker.
Tapp has played his entire seven-year career at defensive end, but the Redskins are trying him out as a situational pass rusher behind Brian Orakpo. If Washington fails to upgrade in the draft, Tapp could see extended playing time to open the season with Rob Jackson suspended for the first four games of 2013.

Thu Mar 28 201315:44Redskins sign OLB Darryl Tapp to 1-year deal
Redskins agreed to terms with OLB Darryl Tapp, formerly of the Eagles, on a one-year contract.
Tapp, 28, recorded 13 tackles and a half-sack in 13 games with the Eagles last season, but he played in just 257 defensive snaps while acting as the fifth or sixth defensive end. The seven-year veteran has 24 career sacks, and he'll be solid veteran depth behind injury-prone Brian Orakpo at the pass-rushing outside linebacker spot. Tapp is also a plus run defender.

Sat Sep 1 201209:49Darryl Tapp agrees to pay-cut
Eagles DE Darryl Tapp agreed to a pay-cut to keep his roster spot.
Tapp was on the trade block, but will stick around after agreeing to slash his untenable $2.575 million salary for a reserve end. It's unknown how large of a cut he agreed to. No better than sixth on the depth chart, Tapp won't tally more than the 2-3 sacks he's been averaging the past three seasons.

Wed Aug 29 201217:12Eagles expected to trade Darryl Tapp
The Wilmington News Journal expects the Eagles to trade DE Darryl Tapp before Week 1.
Tapp may be cut if he isn't traded, so interested parties could potentially wait and sign him for cheaper than his $2.575 million base salary after he's released. The 28-year-old Tapp registered 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble on limited snaps last season. He's buried behind Jason Babin, Trent Cole, Brandon Graham, Vinny Curry, and Philip Hunt on Philadelphia's defensive end depth chart.

Wed Jun 20 201212:55Darryl Tapp could be traded in training camp?
The Sideline View's Adam Caplan floats Eagles DE Darryl Tapp as a potential trade candidate during training camp.
Tapp is a relatively significant salary ($2.575 million) for a player coming off a 2.5-sack season, but he might be able to net Philly a sixth- or seventh-round pick. Tapp's availability will be contingent on the health and effectiveness of Brandon Graham, as well as the progress of young DEs Phillip Hunt and Vinny Curry.

Tue May 1 201222:19Eagles likely to keep one of Tapp/Hunt
The Philadelphia Inquirer expects the Eagles to keep one of DEs Darryl Tapp and Phillip Hunt.
Beat writer Jeff McLane believes Hunt's supposedly untapped potential might give him an edge over Tapp, but that the Eagles may decide to keep Tapp as veteran insurance on young players like Brandon Graham and Vinny Curry. The real X-factor could be salary. Hunt is due just $465,000, while Tapp is currently scheduled for an odious $2.575 million.

Mon Apr 2 201212:00Darryl Tapp misses out on roster bonus
Eagles DE Darryl Tapp missed out on a roster bonus payment that would have been due on April 11.
It was an incentive-based roster bonus, but Tapp's 2.5-sack, 27-tackle 2011 season left the Eagles off the hook for the money. Jeff McLane of the Philly Inquirer predicts Tapp "will be back" with the club despite his disappointing production and $2.575 million salary. We wouldn't be so sure, especially if the Eagles find a more promising pass rusher early in the draft.

Mon Dec 12 201112:39Darryl Tapp suffers broken rib
Eagles DE Darryl Tapp suffered a broken rib in Sunday's win over the Dolphins.
A single broken rib doesn't always necessarily sideline a player, but with the Eagles down to playing for pride, it's likely Tapp will miss at least Week 15. A reserve pass rusher, Tapp has tallied 22 tackles and three sacks in 10 games.

Sat Oct 8 201111:58Darryl Tapp expected to return Sunday
Eagles DE Darryl Tapp (torn pectoral muscle) is expected to be active on Sunday against the Bills.
Tapp has missed the Eagles' past two games. He was off to a hot start before going down in Week 2, notching three tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. Fellow DE Juqua Parker (high-ankle sprain) "has a chance" to return Sunday. Philadelphia's 15 sacks are tied for the league lead at the season's quarter pole.

Sat Sep 24 201110:52Tapp, Parker ruled out for Week 3
Eagles DEs Darryl Tapp (torn pectoral muscle) and Juqua Parker (high-ankle sprain) have been ruled out for Week 3 against the Giants.
The injuries will lead to an increase in playing for DE Phillip Hunt, while the Eagles are expected to give DT Cullen Jenkins some snaps at defensive end. Tapp is more likely than Parker to return in Week 4, though neither seem particularly likely to play against the 49ers.

Mon Sep 12 201112:32Tapp has torn pec
Eagles DE Darryl Tapp "tore (his pectoral muscle) pretty good" in Sunday's win over the Rams.
Tapp suffered the injury late in the game after tallying three tackles, a sack and forced fumble. HC Andy Reid said he isn't expecting the injury to be a long-term issue, but it seems unlikely that Tapp will be able to take the field when the Eagles visit Atlanta in Week 2.

Sun Sep 11 201115:46Tapp suffers pec injury
Eagles DE Darryl Tapp was forced from Sunday's opener against the Rams with a pectoral strain strain.
His return is officially doubtful, but it's a safe bet his afternoon is through. Tapp was having a nice afternoon before going down, wrapping up Sam Bradford for a four-yard sack.

Sun Apr 24 201112:56Eagles could call on Tapp in 2011
Beat writer Jeff McLane thinks the Eagles could call on DE Darryl Tapp to have a bigger role in 2011.
With Brandon Graham recovering from a torn ACL and Juqua Parker getting up in years, McLane thinks Tapp could see some real playing time at left end. Tapp played well down the stretch last season after playing sparingly early on, and managed to sack Aaron Rodgers and force a fumble in the Eagles' Wild Card loss to the Packers. He's worth monitoring in IDP leagues.

Thu Sep 2 201012:02Tapp the fifth of five defensive ends
Eagles DE Darryl Tapp is currently the fifth of five defensive ends projected to make the team's final roster, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane.
McLane thinks that if the Eagles hadn't given up so much to get Tapp (Chris Clemons and a fourth-round pick), he could be cut. When he was acquired in March, Tapp looked to be a starter, but then the Eagles drafted Brandon Graham and have watched Tapp get outplayed by Juqua Parker and Daniel Te'o-Nesheim so far in camp.
