Lawson was on the field for just 28 of the the team's 77 defensive plays in Sunday's win over the Colts, BuffaloBills.com reports. He registered just one tackle and no other significant stats.
Lawson is a starter on the depth chart and there will certainly be games where he sees the field more than this, but let this be a reminder that Rex Ryan defenses use a number of interchangeable parts. Unless it's one of the stars or three-down players, best not to get involved from an IDP perspective.

Lawson, who was more of a rotational player in 2014, has so far lined up almost exclusively as a strong side linebacker in OTA practices, BuffaloBills.com reports.
Lawson posted only 20 tackles and 1.5 sacks in a disappointing 2014, where he saw only 349 snaps. However, he thinks his role for Rex Ryan's new defense might be more similar to 2013, when Lawson played 722 snaps and had 73 tackles and four sacks. The Bills' linebacker situation is pretty fluid as the team moves to a hybrid 3-4, so Lawson might be given a chance to have an important role.

Through eight games, Lawson has 14 total tackles, a sack, and two passes defensed.
Lawson put up 73 total tackles and four sacks last season, but he's going to fall well short of those totals in 2014. He doesn't have a starting job, and he's only been on the field for 28 percent of the defensive snaps compared to 62 percent last season.

Through four games, Lawson has eight total tackles, a sack, and a pass defensed.
Lawson is only seeing action on 33 percent of the defensive snaps, and with Mario Williams, Kyle Williams, Marcell Dareus, Jerry Hughes, and maybe even Jarius Wynn ahead of him in the pecking order, it's obvious he's lost quite a bit of value from last season, when he finished with 73 tackles and four sacks.
Sat May 17 201416:27Bills confirm Lawson moving to defensive end
Bills SLB Manny Lawson is moving to defensive end this season.
There have been rumors Lawson was switching to end in Jim Schwartz's 4-3 scheme, but this is the first time the Bills have confirmed it. Lawson will compete with Jerry Hughes for snaps opposite Mario Williams, though he still figures to see playing time at linebacker in sub-packages. Third-round pick Preston Brown, Ty Powell, and Keith Rivers are candidates to replace him on the strong side.

Fri Mar 15 201301:24Bills to play Manny Lawson at SAM 'backer
The Bills plan to play Manny Lawson at strong-side linebacker.
Strong-side linebackers often match up with tight ends in pass coverage, and the Bills are hoping Lawson can be their answer for division rival Rob Gronkowski. Lawson goes 6-foot-5, 240 and ran in the 4.4s coming out of NC State.

Wed Mar 13 201310:39Manny Lawson signs with Bills
Bills agreed to terms on a four-year contract with OLB Manny Lawson, formerly of the Bengals.
Lawson was a part-time player in Cincy as he fell behind Vontaze Burfict and Emmanuel Lamur. In Buffalo, he shouldn't have trouble pushing for snaps as a strong-side pass rusher.

Tue Mar 5 201321:21Bengals likely to move on from Lawson
The Cincinnati Enquirer expects the Bengals to move on from SLB Manny Lawson.
Going on 29, Lawson was a part-time player last season, and wasn't terribly productive when he did take the field. With the emergence of Vontaze Burfict and Emmanuel Lamur, the Bengals shouldn't hesitate to let Lawson walk.

Sat Mar 31 201216:02Zimmer: Lawson to be more of a pass rusher
Bengals DC Mike Zimmer plans to use recently re-signed SLB Manny Lawson more as a pass rusher in 2012.
Lawson was used almost exclusively in run support and coverage his first season in Cincinnati. "He moved to essentially a different position with us, playing outside in a 4-3 (scheme) after being in a 3-4, and he kept getting better as the year went on," Zimmer said. "He was very good against the run and in coverage, and this year I think we can take better advantage of him as a pass rusher." Lawson has 16.5 sacks in 80 career games.

Wed Mar 28 201215:54Bengals retain starting SAM 'backer Lawson
Bengals re-signed SLB Manny Lawson.
Lawson will retain his starting job on the strong side, with Thomas Howard at weak-side 'backer and Rey Maualuga in the middle. Look for the Bengals to dangle Keith Rivers for trade, if they can. Lawson, 28 before the season, started every game last season but was often spelled by Brandon Johnson. Lawson will likely become more of a full-time player in his second year with Mike Zimmer.

Wed Mar 28 201208:43Manny Lawson returning to Cincinnati
Free agent OLB Manny Lawson is telling teammates that he has agreed to terms with the Bengals.
Lawson drew light interest from the Packers, Colts, and Raiders, but not enough to be lured away from the Queen City. An early-down strong-side linebacker with little pass-rushing ability, Lawson is an asset in coverage and run support.

Scout.com reports free agent OLB Manny Lawson is expected to re-sign with the Bengals, but that no deal has been finalized.
Coach Marvin Lewis said Sunday the Bengals hoped to re-sign Lawson. He has supposedly been drawing interest from a number of teams, but isn't known to have made any visits since the beginning of free agency. He should officially re-up with Cincinnati some time in the next 48 hours.

Sun Mar 25 201217:56Bengals hope to re-sign Manny Lawson
Coach Marvin Lewis said Sunday that that the Bengals still hope to re-sign free agent OLB Manny Lawson.
Lawson has drawn interest from the Colts, Packers, Raiders, and Browns, but the Bengals haven't given up hope. Lawson, 28 in July, is the best outside linebacker left on the open market. He started 15 games in Cincinnati last year.

Sat Mar 24 201212:36Five teams supposedly interested in Lawson
A league source tells Scout.com the Colts, Packers, Raiders and Browns are all interested in free agent OLB Manny Lawson.
The "league source" is presumably Lawson's agent, though both the Colts and Packers have been connected to Lawson elsewhere. The Browns have denied interested in Lawson, while the Bengals are reportedly open to re-signing him. He hasn't lined up any known visits.

Thu Mar 22 201210:51Colts have 'ongoing interest' in OLB Lawson
The Colts reportedly have "ongoing interest" in free agent OLB Manny Lawson.
The Indy Star's Phil Richards reports the Raiders, Packers, and Browns are "also involved." The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported Wednesday that the Browns had no interest, so it sounds like Lawson's agent is planting seeds in the non-Cleveland media. Lawson would fit nicely in Indianapolis' hybrid 3-4 defense, playing the Jarret Johnson role as an edge setter versus the run.

Wed Mar 21 201209:52Report: Browns not interested in LB Lawson
The Akron Beacon-Journal disputes a Scout.com report that the Browns are one of the teams interested in free agent OLB Manny Lawson.
We suspected the original report identifying a handful of interested teams came straight from Lawson's agent, so the denial is hardly a surprise. The Colts, Raiders, and Bengals were the other teams listed by Scout.com.

Mon Mar 19 201210:22Manny Lawson still an option in Cincinnati
The Bengals haven't ruled out re-signing MLB Manny Lawson.
Lawson was used almost exclusively on running downs during his first season in Cincinnati, making 52 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He played a relatively paltry 489 snaps, but managed to grade out as one of the better 4-3 linebackers in the league by Pro Football Focus. He hasn't drawn any known interest since the start of free agency.

Tue Aug 2 201100:34Bengals snag LB Lawson on 1-year contract
Bengals agreed to terms with LB Manny Lawson on a one-year contract.
Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson projects the former 49er as Cincinnati's Week 1 starter at strong-side 'backer. Lawson, 27, racked up nine sacks and a pick in San Francisco over the past two seasons. He has some Adalius Thomas to his game as a cover linebacker, which should appeal to Thomaas' old coach, Marvin Lewis. Lawson has enough speed to run with tight ends and is a quality run defender. It's a very nice value pickup for the Bengals.

Wed Jul 27 201123:31Cardinals showing no interest in LB Lawson
Amid rumors the Cardinals might be pursuing OLB Manny Lawson, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic says the Cards "haven't expressed interest."
Lawson has been a free agent afterthought so far, although the same can be said of Matt Roth and Mathias Kiwanuka. Lawson did tear his ACL in 2007, so perhaps teams want to make sure his knee checks out when they can get him into their team facilities on Friday. No free agent visits are allowed before then.
