Stanton will take the majority of the first-team reps Tuesday before taking a seat Wednesday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
With Carson Palmer (knee) receiving a day of rest Tuesday, Stanton will direct the first-team offense for the day. However, Stanton will be afforded his own respite Wednesday in order to manage his right knee, which sustained a sprained ACL and Grade 2 MCL sprain in Week 15 last season. Expect the Cardinals' training-camp schedule to included staggered days off for Palmer and Stanton.

Stanton (knee) led the second-team offense in last week's minicamp, the Cardinals' official site reports.
Stanton was able to participate in the entire offseason program, meaning the sprained ACL and Grade 2 MCL sprain suffered in Week 15 last season is behind him. Meanwhile, with Carson Palmer (knee) cleared for 11-on-11 work, Stanton predictably moved back to his expected role as the Cardinals' backup quarterback, where he'll reside in case of emergency.

Stanton said Tuesday that he'll be able to take part in all football activities during the offseason, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports.
After suffering a sprained ACL and Grade 2 MCL sprain in Week 15, Stanton didn't helm the offense for the rest of the regular season and even required surgery to combat an infection on Dec. 24. Heading into the playoffs, there was a belief within the Cardinals' organization that he may be able to suit up, if the team emerged victorious in the Wild Card round. Alas, that didn't come to pass, and coach Bruce Arians was required to trust in Ryan Lindley due to the absence of Carson Palmer (knee). With offseason workouts underway, Stanton admitted that he may take a cautious approach with his conditioning, but if Palmer's recovery from a torn ACL is at all delayed, Stanton is the clear option to fill in as the No. 1 signal caller.

Coach Bruce Arians said Tuesday that he expects Stanton (knee) to be "ready to go" for the team's offseason activities, NFL.com's Kevin Patra reports.
Stanton seemed to have a legitimate chance of returning to action if the Cardinals' postseason stay had lasted beyond the Wild Card round, so it's not surprising that he's expected to enjoy a relatively normal offseason. The veteran backup was a passable fill-in for Carson Palmer (knee) while appearing in nine games for the Cardinals, and should be slated to open 2015 as the team's No. 2 quarterback.
Sun Jan 4 201513:55Stanton won't require another surgery on right knee
Stanton won't require another surgery on his right knee, Mike Jurecki of FOX Sports 910 Phoenix reports.
Stanton suffered a sprained knee in Week 15, which kicked off a "will he or won't he" return before the Cardinals' campaign concludes. However, between the final two games of the regular season, he underwent a procedure to combat an infection in the aforementioned region, all but ending his hopes of playing again this season. The development forced coach Bruce Arians to stick with the underwhelming Ryan Lindley through Saturday's season-ending loss in the wild-card round at Carolina, but worry not, as Stanton expects to be healthy by the start of offseason workouts. Depending on the progress made by Carson Palmer (knee) with his own recovery, Stanton could begin next season as Arizona's starting quarterback. Otherwise, another year as a backup would be on Stanton's docket.
Thu Jan 1 201515:05Drew Stanton: Out This Week
Stanton (knee) is out for Saturday's game against the Panthers, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
With Stanton out this weekend, and presumably day-to-day beyond that -- should Arizona advance in the playoffs -- Ryan Lindley will draw the start at QB for the Cardinals on Saturday.

Stanton (knee) wasn't spotted during the open portion of Thursday's practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
While Stanton has yet to be declared out this week, coach Bruce Arians previously indicated that if the QB didn't practice by Thursday, he wouldn't play Saturday against the Panthers. We'll have to see if that notion is still in play, but at this stage it looks like Ryan Lindley is on track to draw this weekend's start for the Cardinals.

Stanton (knee) wasn't present for the open portion of Wednesday's practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Coach Bruce Arians previously indicated that Stanton needed to practice either Wednesday or Thursday in order to play Saturday at Carolina, and with that in mind -- what, if anything -- the QB is able to do Thursday will be telling. At this stage though, it looks like Ryan Lindley will likely draw this weekend's start.

Coach Bruce Arians confirmed Tuesday that Stanton (knee) must practice either Wednesday or Thursday in order to play Saturday at Carolina, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports.
After Stanton underwent arthroscopic surgery to clean up an infection in his left knee last Wednesday, an appearance in practice may be too much to ask for this week. At the very least, the Cardinals will soon know if they have a veteran in Stanton or his underwhelming replacement, Ryan Lindley, under center for their playoff opener.
Tue Dec 30 201411:34Stanton (knee) will not practice Tuesday and remains day-to-day
Stanton (knee) will not practice Tuesday and remains day-to-day, Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer reports.
The Cardinals hope to have Stanton back for Saturday's game in Carolina, but it's generally expected that the signal-caller will need at least another week. Unless Stanton practices at some point this week, Ryan Lindley will very likely start Saturday's game.
Tue Dec 30 201400:23Drew Stanton: (Knee) Remains Day-to-Day
On Monday, general manager Steve Keim said Stanton (knee) is "day-to-day and we're hopeful" that he's able to play in Saturday's wild-card matchup at Carolina, the Cardinals' official site reports.
Stanton's ability to suit up is surely tied to appearances in practice this week, which aren't a certainty due to the arthroscopic surgery performed to clean up an infection in his left knee last Wednesday. Meanwhile, coach Bruce Arians reiterated the company line on Stanton, stating the quarterback is "progressing," but "nothing [has] really changed" surrounding his health, according to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com. Ryan Lindley's two-touchdown performance Sunday in San Francisco likely allayed concerns that he isn't up to the task of heading Arizona's offense, but he left points on the field with two first-half interceptions in 49ers' territory. When healthy, Stanton is the clear-cut No. 1 QB at Arians' disposal, but until active status on game day appears imminent, Lindley will be under center for the Cardinals.
Fri Dec 26 201411:06Drew Stanton: (Knee) Infection Could End Season
Stanton (knee) recently underwent arthroscopic surgery to combat an infection and may be done for the season, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports.
The infection in Stanton's knee was discovered Wednesday and operated on shortly thereafter. He is recovering from the procedure, but the setback could prevent him from playing again this season unless the Cardinals advance deep into the playoffs. Ryan Lindley will start in Week 17 for the Cardinals, and could hold onto the job the rest of the way.
Wed Dec 24 201418:57Drew Stanton: (Knee) No Practice Wednesday
Stanton (knee) didn't take part in Wednesday's practice, the Cardinals' official site reports. Regarding his availability for the team's next two games, one of which would land in the postseason, coach Bruce Arians said, "We've got our fingers crossed. There are no sureties about either one. If he's ready for this one [Sunday], it would be in a backup status, and we've got our fingers crossed he'll be ready to practice next week."
As long as Stanton is recuperating from his sprained right knee, the Cardinals' quarterback situation will be less than desirable. Logan Thomas is taking his turn Sunday at San Francisco, but the rookie is only assured one half of action, as Arians will evaluate his performance at halftime. If Thomas falters, his backup, Ryan Lindley, could see action for a third week in a row, after completing 22 of 54 passes for 246 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in the previous two outings. The preceding likely spurred Arians' comments Tuesday, when he told SiriusXM NFL Radio, "If Drew's healthy, he's the guy."

Stanton (knee) wasn't present at the portion of Wednesday's practice open to the media, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Stanton hasn't been ruled out for Week 17, which he'll likely miss, but the expectation is that he'll continue to rest and rehab with the hope of returning in the playoffs. Whenever his sprained knee recovers enough to allow him to suit up, he's the clear-cut No. 1 signal caller in Arizona. On Tuesday, coach Bruce Arians reiterated as much on SiriusXM NFL Radio, when he said, "If Drew's healthy, he's the guy." In the meantime, Logan Thomas will be afforded at least one half to run the offense, as Arians researches contingency plans outside of Ryan Lindley in the event that Stanton remains sidelined.
Mon Dec 22 201415:55Though Stanton (knee) will practice some this week
Though Stanton (knee) will practice some this week, he is not expected to play Sunday against the 49ers, the Cardinals' official site reports.
The report notes that Stanton's right knee swelled up some after last Thursday's practice, so the Cardinals are inclined to play it safe with the QB this week. With that in mind, coach Bruce Arians noted Monday, "there's no way I play him this week unless we have to." As a result, Arians is leaning toward giving Logan Thomas the start over Ryan Lindley this weekend.
Sun Dec 21 201419:08Stanton (knee) inactive Sunday against Seahawks
Stanton (knee) is inactive Sunday against the Seahawks, the Cardinals' official site reports.
Despite what was deemed a "limited" showing in Thursday's practice, Stanton's sprained right knee isn't close to healthy enough to warrant an in-game appearance, thereby affording Ryan Lindley a chance to secure the NFC West for the Cardinals.
Fri Dec 19 201417:23Stanton (knee) doubtful for Sunday's game against Seattle
Stanton (knee) is doubtful for Sunday's game against Seattle.
Stanton was able to make a limited practice appearance Thursday, but he sat out altogether Friday. Ryan Lindley will start in what's presumably an impending trainwreck for the Arizona offense.
Thu Dec 18 201419:32Drew Stanton: (Knee) Limited Thursday
Stanton (knee) was limited in Thursday's practice, the Cardinals' official site reports.
The news is shocking to say the least, especially after Stanton was seen working on the side during the open portion of practice Thursday. While the Cardinals said earlier in the week that Stanton should be healthy enough to play in a game in "about four weeks," his earlier than expected return to drills doesn't imply that game action is imminent. However, the situation has suddenly become murkier than expected, meaning his status should be monitored closely in the coming days. In any case, Ryan Lindley remains in line to start Sunday against the Seahawks, and Thursday's development seems hard-pressed to change that sentiment.
Sun Dec 14 201414:04Drew Stanton: (Knee) Return Possible In 'Four Weeks'
Stanton (knee) may be able to return in "about four weeks," ESPN.com reports.
A range of return dates have been mentioned since Stanton suffered a partial tear of the ACL and a sprained MCL in his right knee during Thursday's win at St. Louis, but in order to heal properly, four weeks appears to be a more realistic timeframe. Consider him "week-to-week" for now, with an appearance in the postseason much more attainable, if the Cardinals secure a first-round bye. In the meantime, Ryan Lindley, who took over for Stanton, is on track to start next Sunday against the Seahawks, though coach Bruce Arians has yet to commit to either of his healthy options (Lindley or rookie Logan Thomas).

Head coach Bruce Arians said Friday that he definitely thinks Stanton (knee) can return this season, but he would be surprised if the quarterback is able to play next week against Seattle.
Stanton is currently on crutches, and a sprained knee is a difficult thing to return from after just one week, even if he does have a few extra days due to this week's Thursday game. Arians added that he has not yet made a decision on whether Ryan Lindley or Logan Thomas would start against Seattle if Stanton is unable to play. Next week's practices should go a long way toward determining what the Cardinals' Week 15 quarterback picture will look like.
