Though he was pulled in the third quarter of Sunday's 42-17 loss to the Cardinals, Stafford remains the Lions' starting quarterback, the Detroit News reports.
Per the report, Stafford, who finished Sunday's game having completed 20 of 32 passes for 188 yards and one touchdown to go along with three interceptions, before being replaced by Dan Orlovsky, is not on a short leash, according to coach Jim Caldwell. Stafford -- who currently ranks 33rd in the NFL in passer rating and 34th in yards per attempt to date -- will look to turn things around in Week 6 against the 2-3 Bears, who are allowing an average of 28.4 points per game to date. It's a decent matchup on paper, but Stafford's struggles over the Lions' 0-5 start make him a hit-or-miss fantasy option this coming week.

Stafford completed 20-of-32 passes for 188 yards, with one touchdown and three interceptions in Sunday's blowout loss to Arizona. He was benched midway through the third quarter in favor of backup QB Dan Orlovsky.
Stafford's first interception came on an extremely athletic play by DE Cory Redding, but his other two picks were bad reads. It's been a funky season in general for Stafford, who has yet to post a 300-yard passing game, and has just a 6:8 TD:INT ratio. He seems to be taking fewer shots down the field, as Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate have combined for just six receptions of 20+ yards, and while he's been sacked just seven times, the offensive line has underachieved. It might not get better for Stafford next week against Chicago, which has held Stafford to just a 14:12 TD:INT ratio and 80.6 QB Rating in nine career games.

Stafford completed 24-of-35 passes for 203 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions in Monday night's loss to the Seahawks.
Stafford and the Lions' offense struggled to move the ball Monday night, leading to just three points before Detroit's defense scored their lone touchdown. While the Seahawks' stingy home defense surely contributed toward Stafford's unexciting performance, it's encouraging that Monday marked Stafford's first game this season without a turnover. Additionally, Stafford came agonizingly close to having a touchdown pass wideout Calvin Johnson, but a goal line fumble by Johnson erased those potential points. On the whole, Stafford's production was relatively limited Monday, and he faces another tough matchup against the Cardinals' defense next weekend.

Stafford (ribs) completed 31 of 45 passes for 282 yards, with a touchdown and two interceptions in Sunday's 24-12 loss to the Broncos.
Stafford also lost a fumble and took four sacks, with the excellent Denver defense unsurprisingly getting the best of Detroit's flailing offense. Stafford hasn't been the only problem, but his poor play is one of the larger reasons that the Lions have been one of the league's worst offensive teams through three weeks. Heading to Seattle for Monday Night Football in Week 4, Stafford and the Detroit offense are likely in for another long night.
Sun Sep 27 201519:10Stafford (ribs) active for Sunday's game against Broncos
Stafford (ribs) is active for Sunday's game against the Broncos, MLive.com's Kyle Meinke reports.
Stafford took some hard hits in his last game and may still be bothered by soreness in his back and ribs, but he was listed as a full participant throughout the week of practice. He draws one of his toughest matchups of the season Sunday night, facing a Denver defense that held Joe Flacco and Alex Smith to a combined 45.1 passer rating in its first two games.
Fri Sep 25 201516:22Stafford (back) probable for Sunday's game against Broncos
Stafford (back) is probable for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
Stafford logged full practices throughout the week, leaving little question as to his availability for Sunday's game, though it's still quite possible he'll have to deal with significant pain. He'll also have to deal with a vicious Denver defense that has held opponents to a 45.1 passer rating through two weeks.

Stafford (ribs) appears to be headed toward playing in Detroit's Week 3 game against Denver, the Detroit Free Press reports.
Nothing has been committed to, but Stafford told reporters on Wednesday that he wants to play whenever possible and offensive lineman Manny Ramirez said that he has "no doubts" that his quarterback will play. Playing and playing effectively are two separate things and Stafford has struggled in the Lions' one-dimensional offense that has yet to find a running game. He will be tested by a Denver defense that has surrendered a combined 308 passing yards and zero passing touchdowns while nabbing four interceptions in two games.
Wed Sep 23 201517:08Matthew Stafford: (Ribs) Practices Fully Wednesday
Stafford practiced fully Wednesday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
The Lions have broadcast the belief that Stafford will suit up Sunday versus the Broncos, according to MLive.com, and a full practice Wednesday supports that thought process. Even so, his rib injury will be something to keep in mind this week due to the potential for a setback, especially against a fearsome front seven.
Mon Sep 21 201519:31Matthew Stafford: (Ribs) Leads Walkthrough Monday
Stafford (ribs) led the offense at Monday's walkthrough, MLive.com reports. In an interview afterward with WJR 760 Detroit, he said, "At this point, I'm feeling all right. My intention is to get ready to practice this week and we'll see what happens."
Stafford was absolutely hammered by the Vikings on Sunday, suffering a rib injury in addition to open wounds on his left elbow and thumb. He finished the contest with wraps on his left hand and elbow, but results from post-game X-rays on his ribs weren't revealed by the team. The fact that he directed the offense in Monday's walkthrough bodes well for his Week 3 availability. However, Wednesday's injury report could clear up an lingering concerns surrounding Stafford.

Stafford's (ribs) status for Sunday's Week 3 game against the Broncos is uncertain, MLive.com reports.
Stafford was battered during Sunday's loss to the Vikings, suffering a ribs injury along the way that required post-game X-rays. While coach Jim Caldwell declined to reveal the results of Stafford's medical tests, he did say that Stafford is "very, very sore" from the hits he sustained in Week 2. As a result, Stafford's participation level during practice this week should be rather worthwhile to monitor, as it's unclear whether he'll be healthy enough for the Lions' upcoming home opener against the Broncos.

Stafford completed 32-of-53 passes for 286 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's loss to Minnesota. He added 20 yards rushing on four carries.
Stafford led the Lions in rushing on Sunday, and sans a running game, was tasked with carrying the team on his back, a responsibility that proved to be too much. Stafford averaged an inefficient 5.4 yards per attempt, a total unbecoming of a player with Stafford's arm strength. It will be difficult for Stafford to improve too much or find his groove with defenses unafraid of the Lions' running game. The Lions have failed to run for 70 yards in either of their first two games of the season.
Sun Sep 20 201517:33Matthew Stafford: Banged Up After Week 2
Stafford, who completed 32-of-53 passes for 286 yards with two TDs and a pick in Sunday's loss to the Vikings, underwent X-rays on his ribs and chest after the game, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Per the report, Stafford appeared to be in a lot of pain in the Lions' locker room after the contest, this making the QB's status for next Sunday's game against the Broncos worth tracking.
Sun Sep 20 201512:03Stafford (arm) active for Sunday's game against Vikings
Stafford (arm) is active for Sunday's game against the Vikings, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
The upper arm injury didn't prevent Stafford from fully preparing for Sunday's game, as he was a participant in each of the Lions' three practices this week. Fantasy owners should feel comfortable enough with Stafford's health to roll him Sunday, despite his underwhelming numbers (19-for-30, 246 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions) in the Lions' Week 1 loss to the Chargers.
Fri Sep 18 201516:41Stafford (arm) probable for Sunday's game in Minnesota
Stafford (arm) is probable for Sunday's game in Minnesota.
A full participant throughout the week of practice, Stafford was never in any real danger of missing Sunday's game. He'll face a Minnesota pass defense that appears tough on paper, but the group wasn't really tested in Week 1, as the 49ers rode RB Carlos Hyde to a 20-3 victory.
Wed Sep 16 201517:08Matthew Stafford: (Upper Arm) Practices Fully Wednesday
Stafford (upper arm) practiced full Wednesday, the Lions' official site reports. "I'm OK, ready to go," he said.
Stafford landed on the Lions' practice report this week due to a right upper arm injury, yet he didn't miss any portion of drills Wednesday. He suffered the ailment when he was hit on the elbow by the helmet of Chargers linebacker Melvin Ingram, a play in which he threw the first of two interceptions in Week 1. Overall, though, he was 19-of-30 passing for 246 yards and two touchdowns, which he'll aim to replicate Sunday at Minnesota.
Mon Sep 14 201519:55Matthew Stafford: (Elbow) Expects To Play In Week 2
Stafford (elbow) stated Monday that he'll "be good to go" for Sunday's game at Minnesota, the Detroit Free Press reports.
During the opening drive of the second half Sunday, Stafford threw an interception when his right elbow was hit by the helmet of Chargers linebacker Melvin Ingram. Only two plays later, Stafford tossed his second and final pick of the contest. While he wore a sleeve on his throwing arm for the rest of the opener, he was 10-of-14 passing for 110 yards following Ingram's hit en route to 246 yards through the air overall. On Monday, Stafford's elbow was encased within a "bulky" wrap and could cut into his practice reps this week. Nevertheless, the ailment presumably won't stop the signal-caller from suiting for his 68th consecutive outing, including playoffs, in Week 2.

Stafford completed 19-of-30 passes for 246 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 33-28 loss to San Diego.
Stafford's first interception was on a ball that popped up while he was being hit. The second was just a poor decision. Overall, Stafford had an up-and-down debut to the 2015 season, but his fantasy owners should be excited by the weapons he has at his disposal. After Stafford spent much of 2014 tossing the ball up to Golden Tate and a hobbled Calvin Johnson, tight end Eric Ebron showed an ability to create mismatches on Sunday and young running backs Ameer Abdullah and Theo Riddick exhibited breakaway speed. If Stafford manages to limit the mistakes and play within the offense, he should improve upon his 2014 totals.
Sun Sep 13 201521:00Matthew Stafford: Possible Arm Injury
Stafford wore a sleeve on his throwing arm during the second half of Sunday's loss to the Chargers, MLive.com reports.
Stafford started wearing the sleeve after he took a hard hit on a third-quarter interception, and he generally struggled during the second half as the Lions blew a double-digit lead. He never came out of the game, suggesting that he should be able to play in Week 2 against the Vikings.
Sun Aug 30 201513:03Stafford's sterling preseason may be prelude to strong 2015
Stafford's sterling preseason may be a prelude to a strong 2015, Josh Katzenstein of The Detroit News reports.
Despite playing without projected offensive starters Calvin Johnson, Joique Bell and Larry Warford, Stafford continued his excellent preseason on Friday. Through the preseason Stafford has completed 19 of 25 passes for 308 yards and three touchdowns and his 156.3 QB rating ranks second in the league, just behind Drew Brees. If he's able to keep the momentum rolling once the Lions are at full strength, Stafford could be looking at his best season since his 5,038-yard 2011 campaign.

Stafford completed 11-of-15 pass attempts for 173 yards and two touchdowns in Friday's preseason game at Jacksonville.
Stafford played most of the first half, throwing a pretty 62-yard touchdown to Golden Tate early in the second quarter, while later adding a four-yard score to Corey Fuller. Calvin Johnson was a healthy scratch Friday, so Stafford put up nice numbers without his full compliment of weapons. Detroit would like to run the ball more this season, but with so many talented pass catchers on its roster, it's likely that Stafford will continue to air it out.
