Webb signed with the Vikings on Wednesday.
With starting right tackle Phil Loadholt requiring season-ending surgery and landing on IR, the Vikings brought back Webb to restore some depth along their offensive line. Webb appeared in eight games with Minnesota in 2013, but had been out of football this season after he was cut by the Chiefs in training camp.
Mon May 19 201409:42J'Marcus Webb to sign with Chiefs
Chiefs agreed to terms with OT J'Marcus Webb on a one-year contract.
Webb was a seldom-used backup for the Vikings last season, making just one start. His last significant playing time came in Chicago, where he gave up seven sacks and 30 hurries while trying to protect Jay Cutler's blind side. Webb profiles as a swing option in Kansas City behind starting tackles Eric Fisher and Donald Stephenson.

Webb visited the Vikings earlier this week, and made a trip to Kansas City in March. Webb appeared in eight games for Minnesota last season, playing 108 snaps. He's looking for work as a swing tackle. Carolina is the most tackle needy team in the league.

Free agent OT J'Marcus Webb visited the Vikings this week.
Webb spent the 2013 season with Minnesota after being claimed off waivers from the Bears at final cuts last summer. He appeared in eight games, making one start, and played 108 offensive snaps. Webb is a swing tackle, at best.

The Chiefs hosted OT J'Marcus Webb for a free agent visit this week.
The onetime Bears left tackle spent 2013 as a reserve in Minnesota. Still only 25 years old, Webb could push for swing tackle duties with Kansas City.

Sun Sep 1 201313:25Vikings pluck OT J'Marcus Webb off waivers
Vikings claimed OT J'Marcus Webb off waivers from the Bears.
J'Webb Nation lives on. Webb was among the Bears' final cuts after losing his starting right tackle job to rookie Jordan Mills then getting beat by Jonathan Scott for swing-tackle duties. Webb will supplant Troy Kropog as the swing tackle behind LT Matt Kalil and RT Phil Loadholt in Minnesota.

Fri Aug 30 201310:15Bears finally throw in towel on J'Marcus Webb
Bears waived OT J'Marcus Webb.
J'Webb Nation is no longer a sovereign state. Among the worst starting players in the league last season, not even a demotion and pay cut could save Webb's roster spot. His release would seem to suggest Eben Britton and Jonathan Scott have locked up roster spots. The 2010 seventh-rounder has three years of starting experience to fall back on, but his tape isn't going to do him any favors in his search for a new home. The Bears are starting fifth-rounder Jordan Mills opposite new LT Jermon Bushrod.

Sat Aug 24 201315:19J'Marcus Webb not long for Bears roster?
The Chicago Tribune believes a "fresh start" would be best for Bears OT J'Marcus Webb.
In other words, Webb needs to get out of Chicago. Beat writer Brad Biggs believes J-Webb Nation's confidence is shot, and it's hard to argue with that. Webb recently agreed to slash his salary from $1.323 million to the four-year veteran's minimum of $630,000. He's battling Jonathan Scott for swing-tackle duties now that rookie Jordan Mills appears to have locked up the right tackle job.

Sun Aug 18 201318:13J'Marcus Webb accepts pay cut
Demoted Bears OT J'Marcus Webb has accepted a pay cut reducing his base salary from $1.323 million to $630,000.
Webb can earn the $693,000 difference back via playing-time incentives, but he won't get that opportunity if rookie Jordan Mills keeps the right tackle job. It's also possible Jonathan Scott beats out Webb for swing tackle duties. This is quite the fall for Webb, who's started 44 games the past three seasons at left tackle. There's now a real chance he doesn't make the final 53.

Tue Aug 13 201315:52J'Marcus Webb benched for good?
ESPN Chicago believes Bears RT J'Marcus Webb's recent demotion could be permanent.
It's uneasy times in J'Webb Nation. Fifth-round rookie Jordan Mills will start Thursday's game against the Chargers, with Webb serving as the second-team left tackle. Webb has failed time and again as a starter, so Mills could easily run with the job.

Sun May 5 201310:06J'Marcus Webb sobers up since arrest
Bears RT J'Marcus Webb has sobered up since his February arrest for marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Webb has "taken the time to get sober and to remain sober," and expects sobriety to "definitely help me on the field and off." Still only 24 years old -- he turns 25 in August -- Webb is entering a contract year. The Bears anticipate Webb's top-end tools translating to strong pass protection at right tackle.

Wed Apr 3 201316:23J'Webb Nation 'welcomes' position switch
Bears RT J'Marcus Webb says he "welcomes" his move from left tackle to right tackle.
"Things happen and you can't control a few things, but it'll be a great move," Webb said. "I can play right tackle ... I can move my hands a little bit, so it should be fun." Webb is wisely avoiding public pouting as he heads into the final year of his rookie deal. It's not outside the realm of possibility Webb will find success on the less taxing side of the offensive line.

Wed Mar 13 201316:54J'Marcus Webb to move to right tackle
Bears coach Marc Trestman says J'Marcus Webb will move from left to right tackle with Jermon Bushrod now protecting Jay Cutler's blindside.
The Bears are paying Bushrod $36 million over five years, so he'll obviously be on the left side. Webb has struggled mightily in pass protection and not been an especially terrific run blocker, either. Right tackle is considered an easier NFL position to play, though, because they often get "help" from tight ends.

Wed Feb 27 201318:29Prosecutors not pursuing charges against Webb
Pulaski County (Illinois) prosecutors won't pursue charges against Bears LT J'Marcus Webb after he was arrested for possession of marijuana on Sunday.
J'Webb Nation can breathe a sigh of relief. The incident shouldn't have any effect on Webb's standing with the Bears going into the final year of his rookie contract, and will be a dead issue going forward.

Thu Feb 21 201308:39J'Marcus Webb the Bears' best option?
The Chicago Tribune believes LT J'Marcus Webb could be the Bears' best option in 2013.
It's widely assumed that the Bears are looking for an upgrade on Webb, but finding one could prove difficult. By the time the No. 20 pick comes around, Texas A&M's Luke Joeckel, Central Michigan's Eric Fisher and Oklahoma's Lane Johnson could all be gone. Alabama's D.J. Fluker is a right tackle. The Broncos aren't expected to let free agent Ryan Clady get away. The Tribune says that if Saints free agent Jermon Bushrod hits the market, he'll be a target for the Bears.

Wed Jan 30 201301:38Webb triggers escalator in rookie deal
Bears LT J'Marcus Webb triggered an escalator in his rookie deal, raising his 2013 salary from $575,000 to $1.323 million.
Webb has started 44 games over his first three seasons. After being destroyed as Jay Cutler's blindside protector in 2011, Webb bounced back somewhat and finished out the 2012 season on a good note. He enters the final year of his rookie deal and won't be guaranteed a spot under new head coach Marc Trestman.

Mon Sep 3 201222:45Webb officially named Bears starting LT
Bears head coach Lovie Smith officially named J'Marcus Webb the team's starting left tackle, as expected.
Webb, albeit underwhelmingly, beat out former first-round pick Chris Williams for the right to "protect" Jay Cutler's blindside. It's going to be an ongoing issue all season. The first test for Webb is Dwight Freeney and the Colts' new 3-4 look in Week 1.

Mon Aug 6 201220:09J'Marcus Webb listed as starting left tackle
J'Marcus Webb is listed as the starting left tackle on the Bears' first depth chart of the preseason.
It was an expected move, but OC Mike Tice hinted at dissatisfaction with Webb's early play. "Like I said, nobody's really stepped out," Tice said. "(We're) going to scheme. ... We're going to make sure we're not embarrassing anybody or hurting our quarterback." Webb was perhaps the league's least effective left tackle last season. Chris Williams will get the first shot at replacing him if the Bears decide they've seen enough.

Wed Aug 1 201221:21Webb likely to remain Bears left tackle
The Chicago Tribune expects J'Marcus Webb to be named the Bears' starting left tackle before camp ends.
The Tribune's Brad Biggs hints that he's just reading tea leaves, but he's the most plugged-in reporter on the Bears beat, and there's no way he'd be putting this out there without strong information. Webb has struggled mightily in pass protection, but OC Mike Tice seems to love him. If Tice has already decided on Webb, clearly "competitor" Chris Williams never had a real shot.
