Hector Gomez suffered a serious groin injury recently during Dominican Winter League play and could miss much of the 2013 season.

We just don't know the extent of it. Is it a fourth-month (absence) or eight months?" Gomez, 24, was claimed off waivers from the Rockies in June and had been slated to start the season at Double-A.
