Thu Jul 6 202301:57Trea Turner Smacks Solo Homer In Win
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 8-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. After turning in 100 RBI last year, the 30-year-old's RBI upside hasn't been nearly as strong as fantasy managers may have envisioned when spending a first-round pick on him this past spring. Some of the decline has to do with the three-true-outcome nature of Phillies leadoff man Kyle Schwarber, but Turner simply hasn't hit well. The 2022 Silver Slugger is slashing an unfamiliar .248/.302/.387 with nine homers, 30 RBI, and 18 stolen bases during his Philadelphia debut season. After finishing up this series with the Rays on Thursday, Turner wraps up the first half with a three-game set against the Miami Marlins. He is hitting .313 with four bombs, 17 RBI, and eight swipes over 115 at-bats against Miami since 2020.

Mon Jun 26 202315:08Trea Turner Enjoys Big Day In Comeback Win
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner finished 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, two runs scored, and two stolen bases in Sunday's 7-6 comeback win over the New York Mets. The 29-year-old was integral in Philly's victory, bashing a homer in the first inning and swiping two bags in the fifth frame before drawing a go-ahead hit-by-pitch in the eighth. Turner is breaking out of his early-season funk, hitting .279 with three blasts, 13 RBI, and eight thefts over 98 trips to the plate in June so far. Overall, the 2022 All-Star and Silver Slugger is slashing .248/.305/.387 with eight bombs, 28 RBI, and 15 pilfers in 315 at-bats during his Phillies debut campaign. Turner next sees a three-game series starting on Tuesday with the Chicago Cubs, who he is batting just .184 (7-for-38) with three RBI in nine games against since 2022.

Wed Jun 14 202307:01Trea Turner Steals Two Bases Tuesday
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner had a big game in a 15-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday. Turner went 2-for-3 with two walks, two runs, and two steals in the lopsided road win over Arizona. The big night raises Turner's batting average to .249, to go along with seven homers, 39 runs, 20 RBI, and 11 steals across 277 at-bats. Turner is starting to come around at the plate after a slow start with the Phillies, hitting .308 with three steals over his past seven games. Fantasy gamers will want to stay patient with the star as he can be a dominant force at the plate.

Mon Jun 5 202321:57Trea Turner Homers Twice Monday
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner went 4-for-5 with two homers, three runs, and three RBI in an 8-3 win over the Detroit Tigers on Monday. Turner's big night included a solo homer in the third and fifth innings, with the first one traveling 420 feet and having an exit velocity of 105.4 MPH and the second going 424 feet and leaving the bat at 106.8 MPH. Turner is now hitting .243 with seven homers, 32 runs, 19 RBI, and eight steals across 251 at-bats in his first season in Philly.

Fri Jun 2 202316:41Trea Turner Dropped To Five-Hole, Kyle Schwarber Leading Off
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner is being dropped to the No. 5 spot in the batting order on Friday against the Washington Nationals and right-hander Josiah Gray, while outfielder Kyle Schwarber slides up into the leadoff spot. Turner is in a rough stretch that has seen him go 5-for-38 (.132) with a home run, four RBI and five strikeouts in his last nine games. It has dropped his overall line in his first year in Philly to a disappointing .236/.279/.369 with 12 doubles, two triples, five home runs, 15 RBI and eight steals in 55 games. The 29-year-old could heat up at any moment, but the move down to the five-hole on Friday is bad news for his immediate fantasy value. Schwarber hasn't been much better of late, going 2-for-30 in his last nine games.

Thu Jun 1 202319:09Trea Turner Swipes A Bag In Thursday's Loss
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner went 1-for-4 with a run scored, a stolen base, and two strikeouts in a 4-2 loss to the New York Mets on Thursday. Turner and the Phillies didn't have much going on offense in this one as they mustered just six hits as a club. The 29-year-old did manage to steal his eighth base of the season and score a run, though. The lone hit snaps an 0-for-11 for Turner and gets his June off to a decent start after a lackluster May in which he hit just .208 with a .625 OPS. Overall, he's slashing just .236/.279/.369 to go along with five home runs, 15 RBI, and eight stolen bases over 233 at-bats.

Sat May 20 202314:04Trea Turner Is Sitting Out On Saturday
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner is getting the day off on Saturday against the Chicago Cubs. Turner has yet to sit out of a game this season so this is a much-needed breather for the 29-year-old dynamo. Edmundo Sosa is starting at shortstop and batting ninth against Jameson Taillon and the Cubs. Turner has been a pretty big letdown here in the early going, slashing just .257/.302/.390 with five home runs, 10 RBI, and five stolen bases across 187 at-bats. He could get hot at any time so fantasy managers will obviously stick with him but it's safe to say he hasn't lived up to expectations thus far.

Wed May 17 202321:24Trea Turner Picks Up Two Hits On Wednesday
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner had a successful day at the plate after going 2-for-5 in Wednesday's 7-4 loss to the San Francisco Giants. He ripped a single in the first inning and picked up a knock to right fielder Michael Conforto in the eighth inning. Turner did strike out twice but had an encouraging day at the plate overall. He hasn't been hitting to the tune of a $300 million contract, and the Phillies were expecting Turner's bat to make a drastic improvement in the lineup. He is slashing .262/.308/.707 on the season along with just 10 RBI. His swinging choices have not been his usual hacks, which could be the root of his struggles. Turner posts a 26.3% strikeout rate, which is a notable leap from last season's 18.5% mark. The Phillies hope that Turner can right his ship at the plate as the season carries on.

Sun May 7 202308:23Trea Turner Homers, Extends Hitting Streak In Loss
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in the seventh inning of Saturday's loss to Boston. Turner, the first overall pick in many fantasy leagues earlier this spring, got off to a fine start in registering a .321 batting average through April 19, which was also the last time that the speedy 29-year-old stole a base. Following Saturday's two-hit effort, Turner has a decent seven-game hitting streak active, but still only a mediocre .262 average on the campaign by the former batting champion's lofty standards. Fantasy managers surely like to see the power out of the reigning Silver Slugger, but they expected more in the speed department, as Turner has just four swipes spanning across 145 at-bats in 2023.

Mon Apr 3 202314:16Trea Turner Off To Great Start With Phillies
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner went 2-for-4 with a double in Sunday night's loss to the Texas Rangers, and he's hitting .385 (5-for-13) with a double, two triples, an RBI, two runs scored, one walk and two strikeouts in his first three games of the season in his first year with the team. His fantasy managers are still waiting on his first home run and stolen best, but rest assured, they will come shortly. The 29-year-old star shortstop also swung the bat well for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic and is one of the most valuable players in fantasy. Leave him in your starting lineups and hope that he can continue to stay hot with the lumber for Philly.

Tue Mar 14 202300:49Trea Turner Homers, Plates Two In World Baseball Classic Win
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner played his part offensively for Team USA in Monday's 12-1 World Baseball Classic win over Team Canada. Turner went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and two RBI. The 29-year-old signed an 11-year, $300 million deal this off-season after slashing .298/.343/.466 with 21 HR, 100 RBI, and 27 stolen bases with the Dodgers. Turner's combination of average, power, and speed make him one of fantasy's top overall picks, and he should continue to find success in a strong Phillies' lineup.

Wed Dec 7 202201:25Padres Offered More For Trea Turner
The San Diego Padres had a high level of disappointment when shortstop Trea Turner chose to sign with the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday for 11 years and $300 million, according to multiple sources. The precise terms of the Padres' offer to Turner weren't known, but two people not directly involved but familiar with the dealings said the Padres offered Turner more than the Phillies. San Diego drafted Turner 13th overall in 2014, only later to trade him to the Washington Nationals in a three-team deal that brought Wil Myers to the Friars. Turner and his wife were said all along to prefer the East Coast since they're both from Florida. A team source said Monday that the Padres are no longer in the market for a shortstop and were always really only in it for Turner, who since the start of 2016 has led baseball in steals (228) and ranked ninth in batting average (.303).

Mon Dec 5 202214:48Trea Turner, Phillies In Agreement On A Contract
According to a tweet from ESPN's Jeff Passan on Monday morning, the Philadelphia Phillies are reportedly "in agreement on a contract" with free-agent shortstop Trea Turner. Kiley McDaniel reported that the deal is for 11 years and $300 million and includes a full no-trade clause. The 29-year-old hit .298 last season in 708 plate appearances for the Los Angeles Dodgers while also logging a .343 on-base percentage, 21 home runs and 27 stolen bases. One of fantasy baseball's elite options, both in general and at the shortstop position, Turner also turned in 100 or more runs and RBI with 101 runs scored and 100 RBI this past season.

Sat Dec 3 202211:02Padres Have Met With Trea Turner Twice
The San Diego Padres have met with free-agent shortstop Trea Turner twice in person before next week's Winter Meetings in San Diego, according to major-league sources. It's unclear exactly when the Padres met with Turner, but the fact that there have been multiple meetings suggests some level of mutual interest. The Padres have also expressed interest in another top free-agent shortstop in Xander Bogaerts. Turner is a candidate for possibly $300 million, and he appears to be San Diego's preference. The Padres already have two shortstops in Fernando Tatis Jr. and Ha-Seong Kim and two $300 million players, but they cannot be ruled out as a factor for Turner. The Friars traded Turner to the Nationals in 2015 and have indicated notable interest in a potential reunion in recent years.

Fri Dec 2 202211:31Padres In the Market For Trea Turner?
The San Diego Padres have plenty of offseason needs -- first base, a starting pitcher, bullpen, bench -- but major-league sources continue to suggest that they are indeed in the shortstop market, possibly even for Trea Turner. General manager A.J. Preller traded Turner to the Washington Nationals as a player to be named in 2015 and has coveted Turner ever since. To make it work, Ha-Seong Kim could move to second, Jake Cronenworth could go to first and Fernando Tatis Jr. could go to left field. But the Padres are already very close to the first luxury-tax threshold and may not be able to outbid the Philadelphia Phillies. Turner is one of the top fantasy commodities in all of baseball, regardless of where he lands in free agency.

Wed Nov 23 202200:18Trea Turner "Likely" Phillies' Top SS Target
Free agent shortstop Trea Turner is "likely" the Philadelphia Phillies' top target among all available players at the position, per MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. Turner would provide defensive stability to a generally weak overall defense while adding to an already-strong lineup. This move would also allow for a reunion between Turner and Bryce Harper, who were former teammates with the Washington Nationals. The 29-year-old will remain a top fantasy option regardless of where he signs, as he slashed .298/.343/.466 with 21 home runs, 100 RBI, 101 runs scores, and 27 stolen bases with the Dodgers in 2022.

Sat Oct 15 202211:32X-Rays Negative On Trea Turner's Finger
X-rays came back negative on Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Trea Turner's finger on Friday night, and he said he just jammed his finger while diving back into first base on a pickoff attempt late in the Game 3 loss to the San Diego Padres in the National League Division Series. In the first three games of the series, Turner has gone 4-for-13 with two home runs, a double, two RBI, three runs scored and four strikeouts at the plate. But he's mostly been noticed for his mishaps on defense, recording two errors already at shortstop with the Dodgers facing elimination in Game 4 on Saturday. Hopefully, his jammed finger won't negatively impact his ability to swing the lumber for the rest of the series.

Tue Sep 20 202220:04Trea Turner Back In Game 2 Lineup
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Trea Turner (back) is back at shortstop and is hitting second in the batting order for Game 2 of the team's doubleheader against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday. Turner was hit in the back on a throw in Game 1 as a precaution, but it obviously wasn't a serious issue at all since he's back in there for the nightcap. The 29-year-old had a hit in three at-bats before leaving Game 1 to extend his hitting streak to 16 games. The fact that he's back in the Game 2 lineup is great news for fantasy managers that had him locked into their lineups after Game 1. Turner continues to be one of the best all-around players in baseball, both in real life and in fantasy.

Tue Sep 20 202218:01Trea Turner Exits Game 1 Early Tuesday
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Trea Turner (back) left the first game of a doubleheader early against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday after he was hit in the back by a throw in the fifth inning. With the Dodgers having already clinched the National League West, it's highly unlikely that Turner will play in the nightcap against Arizona. Before departing, he had gone 1-for-3 at the plate. The 29-year-old was replaced at the 6 by Hanser Alberto. The 29-year-old is one of the most valuable players in fantasy and real life, so the Dodgers will be hoping it's just a minor injury. Turner came into the day slashing .304/.347/.482 with an .830 OPS, 20 home runs, 97 RBI, 93 runs scored and 25 stolen bases in a league-high 593 at-bats.
