Fri Apr 29 202211:30Aaron Hicks Activated On Friday
New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks was activated off the paternity list on Friday. He missed the previous series against the Baltimore Orioles, but is returning for the road trip. This season, Hicks is hitting .273/.377/.341 with one homer and two steals in 15 games. It's uncertain if he'll be back in the starting lineup on Friday. Fantasy managers will have to check back closer to game time.

Tue Apr 26 202211:29Aaron Hicks Put On Paternity List
The New York Yankees placed outfielder Aaron Hicks on the paternity list on Tuesday and recalled infielder/outfielder Miguel Andujar from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding move. Hicks could miss as much as three days while on the list, so fantasy managers need to adjust their lineups this week accordingly. With Hicks away from the team, Aaron Judge will likely move to center field, which will open up right field for Giancarlo Stanton. Hicks has been solid for the Bronx Bombers to open the season, going 12-for-44 with a homer, four RBI, six runs scored and two stolen bases in his first 15 games of the season.

Fri Apr 22 202216:08Aaron Hicks Out Of The Lineup Friday
New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against Eli Morgan and the Cleveland Guardians. Aaron Judge will be covering center field for the game and DJ LeMahieu will be leading off. Hicks became the team's primary leadoff hitter after Josh Donaldson faltered in the role to start the year. Over 13 games on the season, Hicks is slashing .270/.378/.351 with one home run, three RBI and four runs. He should return to the leadoff spot for Game 2 of the series on Saturday.

Tue Apr 19 202217:32Aaron Hicks Leading Off For Third Straight Game
New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks is batting leadoff in Tuesday's game against Tyler Alexander and the Detroit Tigers. This will be his third consecutive game in the leadoff spot for the team. He went 3-for-7 with a walk and a run scored over the last two games. Josh Donaldson began the year as the team's primary leadoff hitter, but Donaldson has really struggled out of the gate this year. He's slashing just .200/.256/.325 with 15 strikeouts over 10 games. We could see Hicks continue to lead off regularly for the team if he can stay productive and healthy.

Thu Jul 29 202122:44Not left out: Yankees get big lefty bats with Gallo, Rizzo
NEW YORK (AP) — Desperate for a powerful, left-handed bat to park balls in the short porch at Yankee Stadium, the New York Yankees got two of them. Hours after announcing their trade to acquire All-Star slugger Joey Gallo from Texas, the playoff-chasing Yankees worked out a deal for longtime Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo on Thursday. The swaps came on a day the Yankees lost at Tampa Bay 14-0, leaving them far behind Boston in the AL East and fourth in the chase for two wild-card spots. Team officials, including owner Hal Steinbrenner and general manager Brian Cashman, have been holding meetings in nearby Tampa, Florida. “Part of the reason I’m here is because Hal always goes for it, and so does Brian,” Yankees ace Gerrit Cole said after the lopsided loss. “Continue to push chips in. I trust that they’re going to do what’s best for the organization, what’s best to win. I trust they’re going to try and make us better one way or another, and they did.” The Yankees made the moves... Thu Jul 29 202118:45Left turn: Boone says Yankees 'a lot better' with Gallo
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — The Yankees have answered questions about how they would proceed heading into Friday's trade deadline. They are big-time buyers. All-Star slugger Joey Gallo's trade to New York from the Texas Rangers was completed Thursday, giving the heavily right-handed Yankees a much-needed powerful lefty bat. New York acquired Gallo and left-hander Joely Rodriguez from the Rangers for minor league right-hander Glenn Otto and infielders Ezequiel Duran, Trevor Hauver and Josh Smith. The Yankees will receive $2,722,865 from the Rangers plus another $500,000 in January that is conditioned on Rodriguez’ 2022 option buyout being paid. With switch-hitting center fielder Aaron Hicks hurt, second baseman Rougned Odor and outfielder Brett Gardner have been the only left-handed hitters to see substantial playing time. “Sign me up for the guy that’s on base almost 40% of the time and has power and provides the kind of potential balance for our lineup,” Boone said before New York lost... The Yankees began the day 8 1/2 games behind Boston in the AL East and trailing Tampa Bay, Oakland and Seattle in the wild-card race for two spots. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
Thu Jul 29 202100:14AP source: Yanks reach deal to get slugger Gallo from Texas
All-Star slugger Joey Gallo is headed to the Bronx to give the New York Yankees some much-needed punch from the left side. The Yankees have reached a deal to get Gallo from the Texas Rangers, a person familiar with the trade told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity Wednesday night because the move had not yet been announced and was subject to approval of medical records of the players involved. “Wow, a guy that can hit it out of any ball park. I don’t think he gets enough credit for the type of defense that he plays,” Aaron Judge said after the Yankees won 3-1 in 10 innings at Tampa Bay. “Also, just talking with Rougy and a couple guys that have played with him, man, what a guy that you want in you clubhouse, a guy that shows up everyday ready to play. He’s going to fight until the very end. If that’s true and it comes true that we get him, I think it’s going to be something special for our team," he said. Wed May 26 202117:53Yankees' Kluber out at least 2 months, Voit also to IL
NEW YORK (AP) — Yankees right-hander Corey Kluber is expected to miss at least two months with a right shoulder injury and first baseman Luke Voit is also headed to the injured list with a right oblique strain. New York manager Aaron Boone announced the diagnoses Wednesday shortly after the Yankees' scheduled game against the Toronto Blue Jays was postponed due to a forecast of poor weather. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Thursday. Kluber was pulled after three innings Tuesday against Toronto in his first outing following a no-hitter last week. An MRI on his shoulder Wednesday revealed a subscapularis strain, which will keep Kluber from throwing for at least four weeks, followed by at least four weeks of rehabilitation. The two-time AL Cy Young Award winner is being sent for a second MRI with dyeing, a more invasive exam to ensure there's no other damage. Kluber was coming off a 101-pitch effort against the Rangers for the 35-year-old's first no-hitter. It was a milestone... [More]
Fri May 21 202120:22Yankees CF Hicks to have surgery, out several months
NEW YORK (AP) — Yankees center fielder Aaron Hicks will have surgery for a torn tendon sheath in his left wrist that could sideline him for the rest of the season. Hicks will be out for months, New York manager Aaron Boone acknowledged Friday, but he didn't want to speculate about whether the switch hitter has a chance to return this year until after the operation. “It’s going to be a while,” Boone said. Hicks was scheduled to fly on Saturday back to Arizona, where he will have the procedure. The 31-year-old Hicks is batting .194 with four homers, 14 RBIs and a .627 OPS in 32 games. He was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday, retroactive to May 13, and the club initially tried to treat the injury with medicine — knowing if that wasn't effective, Hicks likely would need surgery. “I don't think he's in a lot of pain, but he feels it,” Boone said. “It doesn't allow him to swing the bat the way he needs to.” Brett Gardner started in center field Friday night as the Yankees opened a home... Tue May 18 202102:58LEADING OFF: Trout strains calf, New York teams hurting
A look at what's happening around the majors today: ___ FISH STORY An update on Mike Trout is expected after the Los Angeles Angels star exited Monday night’s win over Cleveland before the second inning because of a strained right calf. The three-time MVP was limping after running to third on an inning-ending popup in the first. Following the game, manager Joe Maddon said Trout was undergoing further evaluation — including an MRI — and the team would know more Tuesday. “I saw nothing. I looked up and he was limping to the third base bag,” Maddon said. “It was kind of innocuous and I had no idea why. It was hurting him pretty good.” Trout began the day batting .333 but was 1 for 17 in his past six games. He snapped a five-game hitless streak Sunday in Boston. BITE OUT OF THE BIG APPLE Both teams from New York are away this week and each one is having a painful road trip. After arriving in Atlanta, the Mets placed outfielder Michael Conforto and second baseman Jeff McNeil on the 10-day injured... [More]
