Ruckinski threw 33 pitches over two scoreless innings in relief of Jered Weaver on Saturday, and though the Angels have not announced any limitations, it would hardly be surprising if the outing is abbreviated. Ruckinski has a strong minor league resume, having logged a 2.93 ERA and 208 strikeouts in 215 innings, but it seems likely that the outing will be a one-off, as the Angels still have Andrew Heaney and Nick Tropeano in the minor leagues, while Garrett Richards (knee) moves closer to a return.

Rucinski will start in the Angels' final Cactus League game while C.J Wilson is slated to pitch in a Minor League game. He has thrown 8.2 scoreless innings in his last two outings, striking out 11 batters in that span.

Rucinski was strong in his first start in the Cactus League on Tuesday, striking out five batters and walking just one in four innings innings against the Rockies.

The 26-year-old made the start in place of C.J. Wilson, who had his start skipped due to an illness. There has been no serious talk of Rucinski being a candidate for a rotation spot this spring, but he does have a strong minor league resume, having posted a 2.93 ERA with 208 strikeouts in 215 innings. He could be worth monitoring if C.J Wilson misses more time, but it's worth noting that Rucinski's other two appearances this spring came in a relief role.
