Ogando (elbow) agreed to a one-year contract with the Red Sox on Friday, pending a physical, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports.
The right-hander battled injury and ineffectiveness en route to a 6.84 ERA and 1.92 WHIP in 27 appearances last season, leading the Rangers to decline to tender him a contract for 2015. Now with Boston on a major league deal, Ogando will look to return to form and claim a spot toward the back end of the bullpen, though everything will hinge on the health of his elbow. He opted against pitching in the Dominican Winter League in favor of additional rest.

Ogando has certainly had some moments for fantasy owners in recent years, highlighted by his 2011 campaign when he posted a 3.51 ERA over 169 innings, mostly as a starter. However, injuries have been a big part of his narrative in recent seasons, and he posted a 6.84 ERA in 25 relief innings in 2014, which prompted the Rangers to cut him loose. He opted not to pitch in the Dominican Winter League to rest his ailing elbow, which also forced him to be shut down midway through the 2014 season.
