Sun Feb 17 201314:05Mo would've retired had he pitched in ALDS
Mariano Rivera told ESPN's Buster Olney that there's "a good chance" he would have retired had he been able to return last season to pitch in the playoffs.
It's an indication that 2013 will likely be his last season, though most were already assuming that it probably was. Mo will make an official announcement before the end of spring training about whether the upcoming campaign will be his final one.

Sat Feb 16 201315:13Rivera completes 30-pitch bullpen session
Mariano Rivera (knee) threw a successful a 30-pitch bullpen session Saturday.
Rivera completed the session while wearing a protective brace on his surgically-repaired right knee, but didn't report any setbacks. The Yankees figure to limit his innings as a precautionary measure in spring training, so Rivera likely won't make a Grapefruit League appearance until later in March. The all-time saves leader remains on track to be ready for Opening Day.

Wed Feb 13 201313:16Rivera close to announcing decision on future
Mariano Rivera said Wednesday that he will make an announcement before the end of spring training about whether 2013 will be his final season.
Rivera has already made up his mind on his future, but he isn't ready to make an announcement right now. The 43-year-old right-hander hasn't had any setbacks following right knee surgery and threw his first official bullpen session of the spring on Wednesday. He will wear a knee brace this season, but doesn't expect it to hinder him in any way. We wouldn't bet against him regaining his status as a top option at closer.

Wed Feb 13 201308:50Rivera (knee) to throw bullpen Wednesday
Mariano Rivera (knee) is scheduled to throw a light bullpen session Wednesday.
It will be the first official bullpen session of the spring for Rivera, who is coming back from surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee. The 43-year-old said last month that he was at about 95 percent, so barring any unforeseen setbacks, he should be fine for spring training and Opening Day. He should be plenty valuable in fantasy leagues despite the absence.

Fri Nov 30 201213:30Mariano Rivera officially re-signs with Yanks
Yankees re-signed RHP Mariano Rivera to a one-year, $10 million contract.
He'll have a chance to earn more through incentives. It was reported Thursday that the Yanks were on the verge of wrapping the deal with Rivera up, and now it's official. The future Hall of Famer takes a paycut from his $15 million salary from 2012, though perhaps the incentives would push the earnings up to around that mark. The 42-year-old is coming off surgery to repair a torn right ACL but is expected to be ready for spring training.

Thu Nov 29 201220:01Yanks, Mariano Rivera agree to one-year deal
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Yankees and Mariano Rivera have agreed to a one-year, $10 million contract.
Heyman says the deal will also include incentives that could push the total higher. Once Rivera informed the Yankees earlier this month that he planned to return for 2013, there was little reason to believe hammering out a deal would take much effort. Mo takes a paycut from his $15 million salary from 2012, though perhaps the incentives would push the earnings up to around that mark. The 42-year-old is coming off surgery to repair a torn right ACL but is expected to be ready for spring training.

Thu Nov 29 201216:12Yanks, Rivera close to one-year, $10M deal
Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Yankees and Mariano Rivera are on the verge of agreeing on a one-year, $10 million contract.
Per Jayson Stark of ESPN, the deal could become official on Friday. Rivera earned $15 million this past season, so he's getting a pretty sizable pay cut in base salary, but there are likely some incentives involved. The 42-year-old right-hander is coming off surgery to repair a torn right ACL, but he's expected to be ready to go for spring training.

Thu Nov 29 201215:25Yankees finishing up deal with Mariano Rivera
The Yankees are planning to complete a pact with Mariano Rivera on Friday, reports ESPN's Jayson Stark.
"The two sides have agreed on the parameters of a one-year deal," writes Stark, and are finishing up the details of that contract Thursday. Rivera is coming off surgery for a torn right ACL but is fully expected to be ready for the start of spring training next February. Fri Nov 9 201217:22Rivera (knee) throws 25 pitches off mound
Mariano Rivera threw off a mound Friday for the first time since undergoing surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee in May.
He threw 25 pitches in all. Oddly enough, Rivera made the throws during a commercial shoot on a snow-covered field at Hackley School in Tarrytown, New York. The 42-year-old right-hander recently said that he plans to pitch in 2013, so it's just a matter of him working out a new contract. Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reported earlier this week that the Yankees will likely ask him to take a paycut from the $15 million he made in 2012.

Wed Nov 7 201214:24Yankees to ask Mariano Rivera to take paycut
According to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, the Yankees are expected to ask Mariano Rivera to take a "significant paycut" as part of a new contract.
Rivera made $15 million this season, but estimates for a new offer are closer to a $10 million base salary which would likely include incentives to boost his pay. The thought is that the Yankees have leverage, as the 42-year-old right-hander is coming off knee surgery and won't pitch anywhere else.

Sat Nov 3 201214:44Report: Rivera to return for 2013 season
The New York Post reports Mariano Rivera (knee) will return for the 2013 season.
Rivera, out since early May with a torn ACL, was believed to be having second thoughts about possibly retiring. General manager Brian Cashman has confirmed that won't happen and Rivera will be back for a final season. After making $15 million in 2012, the Yankees are expected to re-sign him to a one-year contract this winter.

Thu Oct 25 201216:07Rivera having second thoughts about future?
Andrew Marchand of ESPN New York writes that while it is still "probable" that Mariano Rivera (knee) will return next season, he is having second thoughts about possibly retiring.
Rivera vowed to return after tearing the ACL in his right knee back in May and has worked very hard in his rehab, but Yankees manager Joe Girardi hedged when asked about the situation earlier this week. Rivera is a free agent this winter, so Girardi likely didn't want to commit to a player who wasn't signed yet, but the all-time saves leader turns 43 years old next month and has previously said that he wants to go out as an elite player. If he doesn't feel he can do that, it's possible he will call it a career. However, we have a feeling he hasn't thrown his last cutter.

Tue Jul 10 201215:53Rivera (knee) not expected to return in '12
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman reiterated Tuesday that he doesn't think Mariano Rivera (knee) will pitch again this season.
Dr. Keith Pyne's comments to the New York Post have created quite a bit of chatter Tuesday, but this is pretty much what we expected Cashman to say. Rivera remains a tremendous long shot to pitch this season, so the Yankees are expecting nothing.
