Sun Oct 15 202320:52Tre Jones And Devin Vassell Won't Play On Monday Night
San Antonio Spurs guards Tre Jones and Devin Vassell are getting rest days along with Victor Wembanyama instead of playing against the Houston Rockets on Monday. Jones and Vassell seem to be the leaders to control the backcourt this season. Vassell has a lot of hype after he's improved in each of his three seasons in the league so far. He and Wembanyama could be running a deadly two-man game that will benefit both of them in fantasy basketball. When it comes to fantasy drafts, Vassell and Jones are both solid value in the mid-to-late rounds.

Fri Oct 13 202323:09Devin Vassell Shines On Friday Night
San Antonio Spurs guard Devin Vassell played well in Friday's preseason win over Miami. The 2020 No. 11 overall pick logged 22 minutes and finished with 21 points, two points behind Victor Wembanyama, who had a team-high 23. Vassell also had three assists, one steal, and one block. But most impressively, he went 6-for-7 from deep. Vassell signed a five-year, $146 million extension a few weeks ago and is expected to be an important component in the Spurs' rebuilding process. The 23-year-old battled a knee injury last season and was limited to 38 games. But as long as he stays healthy, he could easily surpass his ADP expectations in 2023-24.

Mon Oct 2 202317:41Devin Vassell, Spurs Agree To Extension
According to ESPN senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, San Antonio Spurs guard Devin Vassell agreed to a five-year, $146 million contract extension with the team. The 23-year-old is coming off his most productive season, averaging 18.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.1 steals. He also shot a career-high 38.7% from behind the arc. However, he suffered a knee injury and was limited to 38 games. It's no secret that the Spurs are rebuilding. But the club made it a priority to keep Vassell on the roster. Assuming he remains on the court during the 2023-24 campaign, he has All-Star potential.

Mon Oct 2 202314:51Devin Vassell Wants To Remain With The Spurs
San Antonio Spurs guard Devin Vassell is eligible for a contract extension and when the media asked, he said, "I want to be a Spur for a long time." He was unable to elaborate on that thought so it seems he'll be leaving the negotiating up to his agent and the front office. He was on his way to a career year before getting hurt and missing most of the season. The 23-year-old averaged 18.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.1 steals across 31.0 minutes per game in 38 appearances. Vassell should be a hot commodity in the mid-to-earlier rounds of fantasy drafts now that he has a dynamic pick-and-roll partner in Victor Wembanyama.

Wed Mar 15 202315:00Devin Vassell Out On Wednesday
San Antonio Spurs guard/forward Devin Vassell (knee) will miss Wednesday's game against Dallas. The Spurs are maneuvering through a back-to-back set and Vassell drops out of the lineup after posting 10 points with six rebounds and four assists in 33 minutes Tuesday against Orlando. The team is trying to manage a left knee problem with Vassell. Malaki Branham (shoulder) could be set for a big night in Vassell's absence, but he is regarded as questionable for the contest and might also sit out the game. In the end, it might be Keita Bates-Diop who benefits the most from San Antonio's lineup issues Wednesday.

Fri Mar 3 202317:40Devin Vassell Resting Against The Rockets
San Antonio Spurs forward Devin Vassell (knee) won't play on Saturday against the Rockets. Vassell returned on Thursday versus the Indiana Pacers after missing two months because of left knee surgery. He played well, finishing the evening with 18 points in 23 minutes from the bench. Vassell will likely be back in the lineup for Sunday's rematch with Houston. However, the Spurs will be shorthanded entering this one, with Doug McDermott (thumb) and Isaiah Roby (ankle) already ruled out. At the same time, Keldon Johnson (foot) is doubtful, while Malaki Branham (back) is questionable. As a result, Jeremy Sochan, who scored a team-high 22 points on Thursday, Zach Collins, and Devonte' Graham could end up leading the way offensively.

Thu Mar 2 202314:46Devin Vassell Officially Back On Thursday
San Antonio Spurs guard/forward Devin Vassell (knee) has received the all-clear to return to the lineup Thursday against Indiana. He hasn't played since Jan. 2, missing 25 games. A left knee problem halted a very good season, as Vassell has been averaging a career-high 19.4 points per game with 4.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists. The team will likely try to take it easy with Vassell in his first game back, but he should eventually get back to averaging over 30 minutes per game, with Malaki Branham (back) and Blake Wesley having to settle for lesser roles.

Wed Mar 1 202322:01Devin Vassell Expected To Return On Thursday
San Antonio Spurs forward Devin Vassell (knee) is expected to make his return to the court on Thursday against the Indiana Pacers. Vassell hasn't appeared in a game since January 2nd. He underwent knee surgery a few days later, but has been targeting March 2nd as his return date. The expectation is that the Spurs are going to have Vassell on a heavy minutes limit. Keita Bates-Diop should still be able to hold fantasy value while Vassell is working his way back up to full speed. Fantasy managers should check back on Thursday for another update.

Fri Feb 10 202313:152023 NBA Trade Deadline Breakdown - Fantasy Basketball Impacts
The NBA trade deadline has officially come and gone and we had one of the most active deadlines in recent memory with some big stars being dealt. Kyrie, KD, and Westbrook are all heading to new teams and we have been covering those trades and their fantasy impacts here at RotoBaller. But there were plenty of other lesser-known players who were dealt in the last few days and I wanted to go through and make sure we don't overlook some of these trades as some of those deals may even have more fantasy impact than the big moves. So here are some other trades that went down and my two cents on the increase or decrease in value that we should expect from the players involved for the remainder of the 2022-2023 fantasy basketball season.

Moves That Matter

These are very much in order of how much they matter. Let's start with the Spurs sending their starting center back up North where he started his career.Jakob Poeltl to the RaptorsI am a huge Poeltl fan and was close to acquiring him on multiple teams before the deadline. It was a curious move by Toronto to be buyers instead of sellers at the deadline, but Poeltl gives them the presence at the five they have been lacking all season and allows Siakam to shift over and play PF where he belongs.Poeltl is no longer a shutdown candidate and has legit top-50 upside with his multi-category abilities. His departure also makes ... [More]
Thu Jan 5 202319:50Devin Vassell To Undergo Surgery
San Antonio Spurs forward Devin Vassell (knee) is set to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on January 11th. The organization has no timetable for his return, so fantasy managers shouldn't expect him back soon. Honestly, the Spurs aren't playing for anything, so they will likely take it extremely slow with Vassell. Romeo Langford has been making starts recently in place of Vassell. However, Josh Richardson has been the one benefiting the most in terms of fantasy value. Fantasy managers should consider Richardson a must-add player in most formats right now. He's likely to have a consistent role in the rotation while Vassell is sidelined.

Wed Jan 4 202318:08Devin Vassell Will Not Play Against New York
San Antonio Spurs guard Devin Vassell (knee) has been ruled out against the New York Knicks on Wednesday. Vassell is still dealing with knee soreness after returning from a two-game absence and will now miss another game due to the injury. Romeo Langford and Josh Richardson should absorb Vassell's minutes on Wednesday.

Tue Jan 3 202322:07Devin Vassell Questionable To Play Versus Knicks
San Antonio Spurs guard Devin Vassell (knee) may sit Wednesday's game against the New York Knicks. Vassell is listed as questionable with knee soreness, an injury he missed two games with before returning Monday. Vassell was able to play 26 minutes on Monday in his return, but may be dealing with some residual soreness from that game. If Vassell does sit, Romeo Langford and Josh Richardson should see a boost in playing time.

Mon Jan 2 202313:37Devin Vassell Available For Monday
San Antonio Spurs forward Devin Vassell (knee) has been upgraded to available for Monday's game against the Brooklyn Nets. The young forward has been dealing with left knee soreness, but will suit up for this contest. His return will push Romeo Langford back to the second unit. Langford will see less minutes off the bench, which means he won't have as great of streaming appeal anymore. There is no word on whether Vassell will be limited, but regardless Langford probably won't be worth streaming on Monday.

Sat Dec 31 202217:32Devin Vassell Out Against Dallas
San Antonio Spurs guard Devin Vassell (knee) won't play on Saturday against Dallas. Vassell has been battling a sore left knee for the entire season, so he'll now miss his second consecutive contest. As a result, Romeo Langford, who has averaged 9.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.1 steals in eight starts this year, will likely move into the starting unit.

Thu Dec 29 202215:03Keldon Johnson In, Devin Vassell Out On Thursday
San Antonio Spurs forward Keldon Johnson (back) will play Thursday versus the Knicks, but guard/forward Devin Vassell (knee) is forced to sit out the contest. Both players were initially regarded as questionable for the game and Johnson has shaken off lower back stiffness to be available, but Vassell has a sore left knee and will miss his seventh game of the season. Johnson now looks set for a great outing, with him having averaged 25.6 points per game without Vassell in the lineup, a big boost from his usual 20.9-point production. Malaki Branham, Romeo Langford and Josh Richardson should also benefit from Vassell's absence.

Wed Dec 28 202221:37Devin Vassell Uncertain To Play Knicks
San Antonio Spurs forward Devin Vassell (knee) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the New York Knicks. The young forward was able to play in both games of the recent back-to-back set. However, Vassell continues to deal lingering left knee soreness, so the Spurs want to remain cautious. Romeo Langford and Josh Richardson stand to gain the most fantasy value, assuming Vassell is forced to miss Thursday's game. Between the two, Langford is the better streaming option without Vassell available.

Tue Dec 27 202208:22Devin Vassell Has A Great All-Around Performance Monday
San Antonio Spurs guard/forward Devin Vassell was effective in multiple ways Monday versus Utah, leading the team with 24 points and adding six rebounds and eight assists to his line with two steals and two blocks. His nice all-around performance in 35 minutes helped the team to a 126-122 win. It could've been an even bigger night for Vassell with a better shooting performance, as he finished a miserable 2-for-7 from deep and shot just 8-for-22 overall. The 22-year-old is one of the leaders of the new generation in San Antonio and is averaging career numbers across the board.

Fri Dec 9 202217:48Devin Vassell Questionable Versus Miami
San Antonio Spurs guard Devin Vassell (knee) is listed as questionable for Saturday's meeting with Miami. The 22-year-old missed Thursday's game against the Rockets, allowing Malaki Branham to enter the starting lineup. However, the rookie did little with his enhanced role, finishing with five points while shooting 2-for-7 from the field and 1-for-4 from downtown. Vassell has played exceptionally well this season, averaging a career-high 20.5 points and shooting 41.8% from deep, so replacing him won't be easy. While Branham may could get another start if Vassell doesn't suit up, he's not a recommended fantasy option.

Wed Dec 7 202217:38Devin Vassell Unlikely To Suit Up Thursday
San Antonio Spurs shooting guard Devin Vassell (knee) has been deemed doubtful to play in Thursday's contest against Houston as he battles a sore left knee. The Spurs -- in the midst of an 11-game losing streak -- have seen Vassell emerge during the early part of the season, averaging 20.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists across his first 19 contests. An absence would funnel larger offensive duties to Keldon Johnson, Tre Jones and the likely-to-return Josh Richardson (ankle) and Doug McDermott (ankle). Fantasy managers will want to stay abreast of all San Antonio injury updates throughout the day, but Vassell's next best chance at seeing the floor will be Saturday vs. the Heat.

Thu Nov 24 202212:09Devin Vassell Scores 26 Points In Loss To Pelicans
San Antonio Spurs guard Devin Vassell was one of the only valuable fantasy assets on the team for this game against the New Orleans Pelicans. The third-year guard logged 26 points, four rebounds, eight assists, and one steal on 10-for-17 shooting from the floor and 4-for-8 from beyond the arc. This was a lopsided game from the start and Vassell was one of only two starters that played 30 or more minutes. He's currently ranked 45th in terms of fantasy value across all categories and he's sure to see as many minutes as he can handle moving forward.
