Boston Celtics guard Malcolm Brogdon is expected to come off the bench next season. As expected, Brogdon is viewed as the sixth man off the bench. It appears the Celtics plan on starting Marcus Smart, which makes sense considering his upside on the defensive end. Brogdon should be able to have standard league value off the bench. The biggest concern is the health of Brogdon. He struggled to stay healthy over the last few seasons with the Indiana Pacers. Possibly, a move to the bench with a smaller workload could help Brogdon stay healthy. Regardless, he should have low-end standard league value as the sixth man in Boston.

Charlotte Hornets guard Cody Martin has agreed to a new contract with the organization. The 26-year-old has signed a four-year $32 million deal with Charlotte. Martin put together the best season of his career last year. That being said, the Hornets have rewarded Martin with a new contract. He's expected to play consistent minutes off the bench next season. It's unlikely Martin holds standard league value, but could be a deep league option, assuming he gets significant minutes. As of right now, Kelly Oubre Jr. appears to be his only competition for minutes off the bench.

According to Shams Charania, the New Orleans Pelicans will be signing forward Zion Williamson to a five-year extension worth $231 million. Williamson has played in just 85 games since being drafted first overall by the franchise in 2019. He missed the entirety of the 2021-22 season after undergoing foot surgery in the offseason prior. The 21-year-old is one of the most talented young players in the league, but his extension is sure to draw criticism based on his prolonged injury history. The last time we saw him, during the 2020-21 season, he averaged 27.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 61.1% from the field.

Veteran forward Danilo Gallinari is being waived by the San Antonio Spurs, who received the 33-year-old in the blockbuster trade that sent Dejounte Murray to the Atlanta Hawks. After Gallinari officially becomes a free agent, he is expected to sign a two-year deal with the Boston Celtics. Gallo averaged 25.3 minutes per game with the Hawks last year and compiled 11.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.7 three-pointers per game while shooting 43.4% from the field, 38.1% from three-point range and 90.4% from the line. He'll give the Celtics some solid frontcourt depth and a reliable outside shooting option off the bench.

While the Utah Jazz appear to be on the verge of a full rebuild after their blockbuster deal on Friday, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports that the team has no plans to trade star guard Donovan Mitchell. Jones states that the team is looking to build around Mitchell, utilizing their ample cash and plethora of first round picks. The team received four future first-rounders -- as well as five players -- from the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for star center Rudy Gobert on Friday. They also received the Brooklyn Nets' 2023 first rounder in exchange for Royce O'Neale this past Thursday. Expect to see more moves by the franchise in the coming months, but don't expect to see their 25-year-old franchise centerpiece, Mitchell, to be on the move.

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Darius Garland has agreed to an extension with the team. The deal is worth $193 million over five years, with the potential for the young superstar to earn as much as $231 million. The 22-year-old is coming off the best season of his career, finishing 2021-22 by averaging 21.7 points, 8.6 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals, all while shooting 38.3% from deep. Garland hasn't played more than 68 games in any given year, which should be a cause for concern for fantasy managers, and the expected return of Collin Sexton (knee) may cause his scoring numbers to decrease to some degree. Still, he'll get plenty of minutes, so there's a good chance his career will go nowhere but up from here.

The Timberwolves are moving guard Malik Beasley to Utah as a part of a package to get Rudy Gobert, a multi-time Defensive Player of the Year. With the acquisition of Beasley, the Jazz will receive a player with plenty of untapped potential. He's averaged 12.1 points and 2.5 boards while shooting 38.6% from deep throughout his career. Although the 25-year-old probably won't offer much outside of scoring for category managers in 2022-23, his totals could improve, primarily if he carves out a more prominent role with his new squad. As a result, Beasley is certainly worth late-round consideration in all fantasy formats.

The Jazz acquired forward Jarred Vanderbilt from Minnesota on Friday as a part of the deal to get Rudy Gobert. After the organization traded Royce O'Neale to the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday, Vanderbilt will now fill a void on the team's roster. Although the 23-year-old has averaged only 6.2 rebounds and 5.4 points throughout his five-year career, he is in line to potentially see a significant uptick in minutes while landing a permanent role as a starter in the process.

The Timberwolves are sending guard Patrick Beverley to Utah as a part of a package to obtain Rudy Gobert. Also included, the Jazz will get Malik Beasley, Jarred Vanderbilt, Leandro Bolmaro, Walker Kessler, and four first-round picks. Beverley, who is now moving on to the fourth team of his career, is coming off a solid year, averaging 9.2 points, 4.6 assists, 4.1 boards, and 1.2 steals throughout 58 games while continuing to be a menace on the defensive end. However, with the change of scenery, he may not receive a consistent workload, which won't do anything good for fantasy managers. In addition, Beverley has had issues staying healthy, and his shooting percentages could also use some work. Still, the 33-year-old will retain some of his fantasy value, although it will increase if he receives routine minutes during the 2022-23 campaign.

Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant requested a trade on Thursday, the first day of free agency. However, the organization isn't in a rush to make a move unless the price is right, with ESPN senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski reporting that Brooklyn is looking to "get back something of a historic haul." With the Hawks recently giving up three first-round picks to acquire Dejounte Murray from San Antonio, the starting point may need to exceed that for Durant to be dealt.

Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert is being sent to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a massive trade. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year was traded for four first round draft picks. Also, the Jazz acquire Malik Beasley, Patrick Beverley, Walker Kessler, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Leandro Bolmaro as part of the deal. Somehow, the Wolves were able to pull off this trade without giving up Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards or D'Angelo Russell. Clearly, Minnesota believes Towns will be fine switching over to the power forward spot. This is a huge win for the Wolves who showed their upside as a team last season. From a fantasy perspective, Gobert is going to take away rebounds from Towns. However, Towns is likely to shoot more with the shift over to the power forward spot. The addition of Gobert shouldn't hurt Towns too much, so fantasy managers shouldn't panic. The hope is that all of them mix well together and they compete for a championship next season.

Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant has agreed to a massive extension with the organization. The 23-year-old has agreed to a five-year $193 million deal, which could end up being $231 million with incentives. This deal comes as no surprise since the Grizzlies obviously want to lock up their superstar guard. He helped lead their team to the No. 2 seed and the second round in the postseason. Morant is only getting better, so the rest of the league better watch out. He could be a top-30 fantasy producer, assuming he can actually stay healthy next season.

Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns has agreed to a four-year, $224 million super-max extension. There is no surprise here, as Towns is a cornerstone piece on this roster. He'll continue to grow alongside Anthony Edwards and D'Angelo Russell. Those three could be a legitimate threat in the league soon. That being said, Towns is basically guaranteed to have first-round fantasy value, assuming he can stay healthy. The Timberwolves could still make some more moves and turn into legitimate contenders next season.

Indiana Pacers guard Malcolm Brogdon has been traded to the Boston Celtics. In exchange, the Pacers will receive Daniel Theis, Aaron Nesmith, Nik Stauskas, Malik Fitts, Juwan Morgan and a 2023 first-round pick. The expectation was that Brogdon was going to be traded at some point this offseason with the Pacers in rebuild mode. Now, the Celtics will have to decide whether Brogdon or Marcus Smart will come off the bench as the sixth man. Regardless, both players should be able to produce from a fantasy standpoint in either role. Brogdon does have a history of injuries, but the Celtics didn't give up much in this deal. This appears to be a win for Boston as long as Brogdon can actually stay somewhat healthy.

Atlanta Hawks guard Kevin Huerter has been traded to the Sacramento Kings on Friday. The Hawks will receive Justin Holiday, Maurice Harkless, and a lottery-protected 2024 first round pick in exchange for Huerter. After playing his first four seasons in with the Hawks, Huerter will get a fresh start in Sacramento. Huerter is expected to compete with newly signed Malik Monk for the starting shooting guard spot. His fantasy value should see a boost in Sacramento, assuming he gets significant minutes. As for Atlanta, this move is more about adding depth as both Harkless and Holiday should contribute off the bench. Neither player is likely to hold reliable fantasy value.

The Detroit Pistons re-signed power forward/center Marvin Bagley III to a three-year deal worth $37.5 million. Bagley was traded to the Pistons from the Sacramento Kings prior to last year's trade deadline. Over 18 games with the Pistons, he averaged 14.6 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while shooting 55.5% from the field. He could wind up as the team's starting center this season, though he'll have some competition for playing time as the team has added some additional big men this offseason. They traded for rookie Jalen Duren, the 13th pick in this year's draft, and they also acquired center Nerlens Noel from the New York Knicks.

Memphis Grizzlies power forward/center Jaren Jackson Jr. (foot) underwent surgery to fix a stress fracture in his right foot this past week. He is expected to be sidelined for four-to-six months. If he can meet the front end of that estimate, he could be back at some point in November. However, if he winds up taking six months to return, we won't see him until around Christmas or later. Jackson was a stat-stuffer once again in 2021-22. The 22-year-old averaged 16.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 1.6 three-pointers per game last year. The team will likely rely upon Steven Adams, Brandon Clarke and Xavier Tillman Sr. to fill Jackson's void until he's back.

Free-agent guard Lonnie Walker IV is heading to the Lakers on a one-year deal that will pay him $6.5 million. The 23-year-old averaged 12.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists during his fourth year in San Antonio. However, he will now move on to L.A., where he'll get an opportunity to earn minutes. Still, he probably won't be a regular fantasy option, although he should have some decent showings throughout the 2022-23 campaign. His diminished shooting percentage from deep also won't do category managers any favors.

Free-agent guard Amir Coffey is returning to the Clippers on a three-year, $11 million deal. The 25-year-old averaged 9.0 points and 2.9 rebounds while shooting 37.8% from deep last season. Yet, his numbers throughout his 30 appearances as a starter were a little better. Coffey's versatility allows him to play multiple positions, so he should continue to be a reliable bench asset for L.A. in 2022-23. Still, he probably won't be a consistent fantasy option, so his services should be left for those in deeper formats or when he's allotted extra minutes.

Restricted free-agent forward/center Nicolas Claxton is returning to Brooklyn, agreeing to a two-year, $20 million contract. After Houston had expressed interest, the Nets will retain a player with a tremendous upside moving ahead. He finished the 2021-22 season by averaging 8.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks throughout 47 games, although he played a bit better during his 19 appearances in the starting lineup. Nevertheless, with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving potentially on their way out of Brooklyn, Claxton could see a noticeable bump in all fantasy categories this season. However, his free throw shooting needs to improve, and he also must figure out how to play through injuries, which have hindered his development over the years.
