Tue Jun 11 201309:06Report: Jason Kidd frontrunner for Nets job?
Updating a previous item, Jason Kidd is the perceived frontrunner for the Nets coaching job after his interview on Monday, according to the New York Post.
Take it with a grain of salt considering Brian Shaw is also set to interview with the team on Wednesday, but Kidd's candidacy is very much for real. According to a source, it was a "good meeting" between the two sides on Monday, but it's not clear what the next step might be in the process. The team could finalize a decision on a head coach this week, and "all indications" are the Nets want Kidd.

Tue Jun 11 201308:08Report: Nets could make coach decision soon
The Nets could make a decision on their next head coach within the "next several days," sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Jason Kidd is a very real candidate at this point in the process. According to Yahoo!, Kidd has "convinced Nets management of his seriousness" regarding the vacancy, and Nets ownership has "long been intrigued with making a star hire in the coaching spot." Kidd is competing with Brian Shaw for the Nets gig, and although Kidd is trying to recruit Lawrence Frank to join his staff, Frank is "nowhere near" committing.

Mon Jun 10 201318:19Jason Kidd eyes Lawrence Frank as assistant
Jason Kidd is receiving "serious consideration" for the Nets' head coaching job, according to multiple sources, and if hired he hopes to have Lawrence Frank as a lead assistant.
Kidd is well respected in the league and he's seen as a logical NBA head coach candidate, but his utter lack of experience makes it crucial that he surrounds himself with long-tenured NBA coaches. Frank fits the bill perfectly since he's been a head coach for nine seasons, including five seasons with the Nets while Kidd was still in New Jersey.

Mon Jun 10 201308:24Report: Jason Kidd to meet with Nets soon
Jason Kidd will meet with the Nets this week to discuss the team's head coaching vacancy, sources told ESPN.
Kidd's meeting was set to be an "open-ended discussion about potential employment" with the team, but it's evolved into his candidacy for the head coaching job. Kidd has been added to the list of candidates along with Brian Shaw, who is expected to interview with the Nets in the coming week. One source told ESPN Kidd has "hurdles to overcome" to be a serious contender for the job. That's a nice way of putting it.

Sun Jun 9 201317:40Jason Kidd pursuing Brooklyn coaching job
Jason Kidd is pursuing the Nets' head coaching job and his candidacy has been discussed within the highest levels of the organization, according to Yahoo! Sports.
He has been working to find assistant coaches to help him overcome some of the growing pains. It's interesting and unexpected, but Kidd does have a nice r‚sum‚ for this not to be totally dismissed. He ranks second on the all-time assist and steal lists to go with his 10-time All-Star nods. Kidd's offenses were some of the most efficient in the NBA during his prime, so it's not a stretch to think he could draw up some plays. The Nets appeared to have Lionel Hollins and Brian Shaw atop their list for now.

Wed Jun 5 201315:08Kidd would be honored if Mavs retire number
Jason Kidd spoke glowingly about the Mavs on Tuesday night and said his greatest accolade would be if Mark Cuban decided to retire his number.
Kidd retired Tuesday after spending one season with the Knicks following his second stint in Dallas, which is the team that drafted him second overall in 1994. Although he acquired most of his Hall-of-Fame stats playing with the Nets, he won his only title with the Mavs and only left Dallas after Cuban basically dismantled the team for salary cap reasons. In the end, it might end up being a situation where Kidd's number hangs in the rafters for both clubs.

Tue Jun 4 201308:38Kidd confidant: You can tell he was tired
A "confidant" of Jason Kidd told the New York Post that Kidd was "tired" on the court.
Take it with a major grain of salt considering the source. "You can tell he was tired. No specific injury. Just harder to keep his body in shape," the confidant said. Of course, most of that can be said about any professional athlete who is 40 years old, so we're not really surprised. Kidd announced his retirement just days after Grant Hill.

Mon Jun 3 201312:29Jason Kidd decides to retire from the NBA
Jason Kidd has retired from the NBA.
Kidd's retirement doesn't come as a huge surprise after he said recently he was on the fence about returning, and after the up-and-down season he had with the Knicks, Kidd has decided to walk away. He'll finish his career as one of the best point guards to ever play the game, and the Knicks will enter the offseason shopping in the point guard market.

Fri May 31 201308:20Jason Kidd planning return, still uncertain
Jason Kidd is planning to return next season, but he admitted he's still not certain.
If Kidd does play, it will be for the Knicks. "There's a lot different stuff I may have the opportunity to do,'' said Kidd. "If I play, I plan on playing for the Knicks.'' While Kidd is undecided on his future, the Knicks have to hope he doesn't take too long to decide so the team can enter the offseason knowing what it has to do.

Tue May 21 201310:55Grunwald: Kidd indicated he'd return to team
Jason Kidd "indicated" to GM Glen Grunwald that he planned to return next season.
Kidd is under contract for two more years and is undecided on his retirement, and although it's not clear what the veteran point guard will ultimately decide, it wouldn't surprise us either way. If Kidd does retire, the Knicks will be in the market for a point guard once again.

Fri May 17 201316:35Jason Kidd appears to be odd man out for NYK
Knicks coach Mike Woodson strongly hinted Friday that he would stick with the same rotation and minutes in Saturday's Game 6.
That rotation kept the struggling Jason Kidd and the rusty Amare Stoudemire on the bench for the entire second half. Kidd appears to be barely hanging on at this point in the season while STAT is still adjusting after returning from his second knee surgery of the season. The absence of both players allow Chris Copeland to play a substantial role and the rookie forward gave the Knicks enough of a boost in Game 5 that Woodson said he might increase Copeland's minutes Saturday. It's hard to see either Kidd or STAT having much of an impact the rest of this series.

Wed May 15 201316:11Jason Kidd: Scoring doesn't dictate my game
Jason Kidd doesn't considering himself a scorer and saying missed shots won't "dictate my game."
Kidd hasn't scored since Game 2 against the Celtics but has only attempted 16 shots from the field in eight games. Unfortunately for him, no one else on the Knicks is scoring, which magnifies Kidd's struggles. At this point is his career, Kidd isn't known for his offensive prowess but the Knicks need him to at least chip in a couple points here or there to be worthy of the 22.2 minutes he's averaging per game.

Sun May 12 201320:13Jason Kidd sets NBA streak w/ scoring drought
Jason Kidd has seven consecutive games with zero points and at least two rebounds, the longest such streak in NBA history (playoffs or regular season).
Since Game 2 vs. the Celtics on April 23rd, Kidd is a combined 0-of-14 from the field despite averaging 21.6 minutes per game. With J.R. Smith also in a shooting slump, it's small wonder the Knicks only scored 71 points in their Game 3 loss. Charles Jones used to hold the dubious record for games with zero points and two-plus rebounds, having done it six straight times as a backup big man for the Bullets in 1992.

Tue May 7 201308:37Mike Woodson fine with Kidd's offense
Mike Woodson is not concerned with Jason Kidd's offense.
Kidd hasn't scored a single point in his last 137 minutes, but Woodson doesn't care. "Jason is going to be there when it counts," he said. "We haven't played him a lot of big minutes." Kidd said he's not going to change anything on his end and won't force anything, but the Knicks need offensive help for Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith.

Sat Apr 20 201318:02Jason Kidd has big line vs. Celtics
Jason Kidd had three steals against the Celtics on Saturday to go with eight points, five boards, three assists and two 3-pointers in 35 minutes.
"He's been doing this all season," Mike Woodson said of Kidd. "He just seems to be in the right place at the right time." Woodson is right and Kidd just always seemed to be getting into the correct passing lanes and he was able to stretch the defense with five attempts from downtown. A healthy Kidd could go a long way for the Knicks.

Mon Apr 15 201322:10Jason Kidd expects to sit out on Wednesday
Jason Kidd is expected to rest in Wednesday's finale.
He played just 21 minutes in what will likely be his last game of the season, scoring six points with two boards, six assists, one steal and two 3-pointers. He can be cut in all leagues.

Sun Apr 14 201319:21Jason Kidd doesn't score in 30 minutes
Jason Kidd failed to score in 30 minutes against the Pacers on Sunday, adding four boards, five assists and four steals.
Kidd has been a great help to the Knicks all year and it's unclear how the Knicks will handle his minutes in the final two games. There's a very good chance he'll sit, but since he hasn't missed a game since January, the Knicks might need him while they rest their starters and J.R. Smith. If he's on the wire, he's probably not worth picking up.

Thu Apr 11 201323:14Jason Kidd doesn't score in 37 minutes
Jason Kidd played a 2013-high 37 minutes vs. Chicago on Thursday, failing to score to go with six boards, two assists and one block.
Kidd hasn't turned the ball over in any of his six April games while providing a combined eight steals, 15 assists, six triples and 19 points in that span. Raymond Felton did have a knee tweak in overtime tonight, so there's certainly a chance Felton rests in the second game of a back-to-back on Friday.

Sun Apr 7 201315:51Jason Kidd scores 14 points off the bench
Jason Kidd scord 14 points off the bench in 31 minutes against the Thunder on Sunday, adding six boards, two assists, two steals and four 3-pointers.
He failed to score in two of his last three games, so this line came out of nowhere. Kidd's minutes have been hovering around 25 per game over the past month, but he is too inconsistent to own in most formats. The Knicks had 55 points off the bench in the win and Chris Copeland also chipped in with 13 points in 19 minutes.
