Tue Dec 3 201317:58Lawrence Frank out after rift w/ Jason Kidd
Nets assistant coach Lawrence Frank will no longer be on the sidelines during games, as a difference in philosophies with Jason Kidd led to his being "reassigned."
Frank was a vocal presence on the bench and served as a 'defensive coordinator', but the Nets rank 29th in the NBA in defensive efficiency and Kidd didn't waste much time ousting him.

Thu Nov 28 201319:12Jason Kidd fined $50K for dropping cup stunt
THe NBA fined Jason Kidd $50,000 on Thursday for dropping his cup against the Lakers on Wednesday.
It was a ridiculous stunt by Kidd to get a chance to draw up a play without any timeouts. The coach told Tyshawn Taylor to "hit me" and spilled his drink to get the extra time. His Nets are 4-11 and their offense has very little rhythm, so he has his work cut out for him in his first year as a coach.

Mon Nov 25 201309:14Report: Jason Kidd supported by ownership
Jason Kidd reportedly has the support of Nets' ownership despite the team's five-game losing streak and overall 3-10 record.
Kidd had "philosophical differences" with assistant Lawrence Frank, but they've since aligned their views. He's also taken heat for deferring frequently to Frank on defense, and assistant John Welch on offense, but player injuries have taken a heavy toll and the team continues to deflect blame away from Kidd. "We gotta hold everybody accountable," Paul Pierce said last week. "The players, the coaches, this is one big group and we're all in it together. So it's not only on [Kidd], it's on all of us."

Fri Oct 4 201311:07NBA suspends Jason Kidd for two games
The NBA suspended Jason Kidd for two games after pleading guilty to driving while impaired.
He plead guilty on July 16 for a misdemeanor drunken driving charge. This was an expected move by the NBA and the Nets are fully prepared for it. Assistant coach Lawrence Frank has conducted much of the offensive drills in practice and is more than capable of running the team in Kidd's absence. The Nets play at Cleveland on October 30 and host the Heat on November 1.

Wed Sep 25 201314:28New York officially gets 2015 All-Star Game
New York has officially been named as the host of the 2015 NBA All-Star Game.
The Knicks and Nets are going to co-host and the Barclays Center will host the Friday and Saturday night activities, but the game will be played at Madison Square Garden. "The only thing better than having All-Star Weekend at Madison Square Garden or Barclays Center is to have it at both of them," New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said. MSG isn't a state-of-the-art facility and it's hard to believe the world's most famous arena sits above a train station, but it still figures to be a terrific place to hold one of the NBA's signature events.

Wed Sep 4 201309:13Report: Jason Kidd to buy Jay Z's Nets shares
Jason Kidd is reportedly buying half of Jay Z's minority ownership shares in the Brooklyn Nets, at a cost of $500,000.
Jay Z sold the rest of his shares to another current Nets owner, thus freeing himself to represent pro athletes as an agent with his newly-minted Roc Nation Sports agency. The sale will make the headlines but it won't cause any real changes in the Nets' ownership structure, as Jay Z owned a mere 0.161 percent of the team.

Wed Aug 21 201316:55Jason Kidd rounds out Nets' coaching staff
Jason Kidd has added John Welch, Joe Prunty and Charles Klask to the Nets' coaching staff.
The three recent hires complete Kidd's staff, which also includes Lawrence Frank, Roy Rogers and Eric Hughes. It's a deep and experienced group whose job should be made considerably easier by a roster brimming with veterans and All-Stars.

Fri Jul 19 201310:39Prokhorov says it's time for Nets to deliver
Nets owner Mikhal Prokhorov issued his own version of an ultimatum at Thursday's news conference introducing Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry.
"I have done what I can. Now I think it is high time for the team to do the rest," Prokhorov said with a deadpan expression. It's hard to blame him for wanting results considering what he's willing to pay. In addition to a payroll of over $100 million, the Russian billionaire will reportedly be footing a luxury-tax bill of roughly $80 million for the roster GM Billy King assembled. All of this with a first-time head coach and five high-paid starters that each need the ball in their hands. At the very least, it'll be an interesting season in Brooklyn.

Tue Jul 16 201312:11Jason Kidd pleas guilty to DWI charge
Jason Kidd pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge Tuesday.
He was placed on interim probation and will also speak to Long Island high school students about drinking and driving. Kidd's incident occurred on July 15, 2012 and he suffered injuries to his head and hand after crashing his car into a utility pole. He'll likely be facing a two-game suspension from the NBA.

Tue Jul 16 201308:50Kidd expected to plead guilty for DWI
Jason Kidd is expected to plead guilty for his DWI case at 11 a.m. Tuesday morning and will likely be suspended for two games by the NBA.
He ran his Cadillac Escalade into a telephone pole last year and refused to take a blood-alcohol test. Kidd will make school appearances to speak about alcohol and the meetings could become public-services announcements, his attorney told Mike Lupica of the NY Daily News. Lawrence Frank will likely be the head coach for the Nets in Kidd's absence during the season.

Wed Jul 10 201310:55Nets may face $75 million luxury tax bill
Once they complete their trade for Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry, the Nets could pay approximately $75 million in luxury tax for the 2013-14 season.
The new CBA is already digging it's claws into Mikhail Prokhorov's enormous bank account, to the delight of non-tax-paying teams which will share in the windfall. The Nets are taking a very literal view of the 'win at all costs' motto.

Thu Jun 27 201315:17Nets staff adds Lawrence Frank, Eric Hughes
Lawrence Frank and Eric Hughes will join Jason Kidd's staff in Brooklyn as assistant coaches.
Frank will take a demotion from his head-coaching post in Detroit, but he should have a ton of responsibility with Kidd likely having the training wheels on in the early going. Interestingly, Frank was Kidd's coach for four seasons and the tandem won the Atlantic division twice in that span. As for Hughes, he heads back stateside after assisting with the Raptors.

Thu Jun 20 201309:33Report: Kidd has interviewed Rogers, Frank
Jason Kidd has interviewed Lawrence Frank and Roy Rogers to be on his Nets coaching staff, but no hires have been made.
Kidd is attempting to convince Frank to join him on the bench, and now that Rogers' deal with the Suns fell apart, he may be a candidate in Brooklyn as well. "We're scheduling some more soon, so we'll hopefully have some guys in place here soon," Kidd said of any potential further interviews. It shouldn't take him too long to put together a staff, but it's not clear when that will happen.

Sat Jun 15 201312:51Prokhorov believes Jason Kidd will be 'star'
Mikhail Prokhorov believes Jason Kidd will be a "star" as the Nets head coach.
"The point is that there are people who are born coaches," Prokhorov said. "And it is known that Jason Kidd was in fact a player-coach on many teams. And he has been training for a long time. He has played under many coaches, and he has always wanted to be a coach." Prokhorov went on to call Kidd a budding star that will help the Nets "win the NBA." No pressure, Jason.

Fri Jun 14 201320:59Jason Kidd will coach in Summer League
Jason Kidd will coach in the NBA Summer League in Orlando next month.
"I think it's the best thing to get right into it," Kidd said. "I know that a lot of times head coaches don't coach summer league. But this gives me time to work on different parts of the game, learning to be a coach, also my philosophy and plays and the defensive stuff that I'll get to put in as my system." It makes a lot of sense for Kidd and the training wheels in summer league shouldn't hurt him.

Thu Jun 13 201314:18Jason Kidd plans to run uptempo O with Nets
Jason Kidd was officially introduced as the Nets' head coach Thursday.
Kidd admitted he has a lot of learning to do and jokingly referred to himself as a rookie, which is saying something considering he retired as a player less than two weeks ago. GM Billy King said Kidd talked about how he wanted to implement ball movement and an uptempo offense in his interview. That's music to the ears of fantasy owners who watched Deron Williams and Brook Lopez get bogged down in a predictable halfcourt-driven offense under Avery Johnson and P.J. Carlesimo last season. It will be interesting to see who Kidd picks as his assistant coaches, but we wouldn't be shocked if Lawrence Frank ends up as Kidd's lead assistant.

Wed Jun 12 201320:19Jason Kidd will be next Nets head coach
Jason Kidd has agreed to a three-year deal to be the next coach of the Brooklyn Nets.
He retired as a player on June 3 and it's shocking that he took less that two weeks to get a coaching gig with a team that made the playoffs. Kidd must have had a terrific interview with the Nets to get the nod over impressive candidates such as Brian Shaw. Kidd played seven seasons with the Nets, averaging between 8.3 and 10.4 assists per game in that span. He'll likely be accompanied by top-notch assistants and if his career is any indicator, the Nets should be a more offensive-oriented team after ranking 17th in points per game last season.

Wed Jun 12 201318:10Report: Kidd assembling possible Nets staff
Jason Kidd is currently working to assemble assistants for a staff if he's hired as the Nets head coach, sources tell Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.
Kidd and Pacers assistant Brian Shaw are considered the two leading candidates for the opening. Shaw reportedly met with Nets GM Billy King for four-plus hours on Wednesday, but multiple outlets reported earlier in the day that Kidd and the team were in the process of working out a deal to hire the recently-retired point guard as head coach. If Kidd does land the job, veteran coach Lawrence Frank has been mentioned as a potential candidate for his staff. Wojnarowski reported earlier Wednesday that a decision by the Nets is expected promptly.

Wed Jun 12 201312:14Report: Nets moving closer to hiring Kidd
The Nets have the paramaters of a three-year offer in place for Jason Kidd to become their next head coach, a source told the New York Post.
The Nets are interviewing Brian Shaw on Wednesday for their head coaching spot, but it sure sounds like the team has put all of its attention on Kidd. The report states that no official offer has been made, but it may just be a matter of time until that happens. "The Russians are on board," one source told the Post.

Wed Jun 12 201310:43Report: Jason Kidd, Nets finalizing contract?
A source told the Philadelphia Inquirer that Jason Kidd and the Nets are finalizing a 3-year agreement to become the team's next head coach.
Take it with a major, major grain of salt. The Inquirer is the only outlet that is reporting a deal is done, and the Nets are interviewing Brian Shaw on Wednesday. It's entirely possible that Kidd winds up as the next coach, and at this point it could be likely, but this report seems a tad premature.
