Butler scored a team-high 24 points (10-14 FG, 4-7 3Pt) with eight boards in 31 minutes in the loss to Minnesota on Thursday.
Butler was the lone Piston who hit more than half of his field goal attempts. The 34-year-old forward played 23 scoreless in minutes in the opener against the Nuggets. His big point production against the Timberwolves was likely a one-game anomaly.
Sun Jul 13 201421:40Pistons nearing deal with FA Caron Butler
The Pistons are reportedly "on the brink" of signing free agent Caron Butler.
Detroit's new president/coach Stan Van Gundy isn't messing around in free agency, as all four of his signings (assuming Butler agrees to terms) have been for guards and swingmen who can stretch the court to the 3-point line. CB notched 10.5 points per game with 45.8 percent of his shot attempts coming from downtown, but the 12-year veteran is strictly a specialist in fantasy leagues.

Thu Jul 10 201416:00Thunder and Clippers pursuing Caron Butler
The Oklahoma City Thunder and L.A. Clippers are pursuing free agent Caron Butler.
Butler has been linked to numerous other teams, including the Wizards, Lakers, Heat, and Bulls. While most of the NBA is waiting for the LeBron and Carmelo decisions to come down, teams looking to add a veteran small forward have been inquiring about Butler. He played for both the Bucks and Thunder last season, and at 34 years old, he is looking to play for a contender next season.

Fri Jul 4 201411:39Wizards reach out to Caron Butler
The Wizards have reportedly reached out to unrestricted free agent Caron Butler.
Butler will likely wait to see where LeBron James, and Carmelo Anthony land before making a decision on where to sign. Butler, 34, would like to join a contender to chase another ring as his career comes to a close. The Spurs, Heat, and Lakers have also inquired about acquiring the veteran swingman's services, according to sources.

Tue Jul 1 201410:51Teams going after Caron Butler
The Lakers, Heat, Bulls and Thunder are reaching out to unrestricted free agent Caron Butler.
He picked OKC over the Heat last year after the Bucks bought him out, but OKC may have some stiff competition to keep him. Butler showed he can still fill it up and even had a 38-point game with the Bucks back on November. He won't be worth drafting on any of the aforementioned teams.

Fri Jun 27 201416:22Caron Butler expects LeBron to remain in MIA
Caron Butler, who is a close friend of Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem, expects LeBron James to remain in Miami.
"I think what [James] created in South Beach - all three of those guys - and with free agency looming, and other guys willing to come there and play alongside the Big 3, I don't see him going anywhere," Butler said. Butler also indicated that Miami approached him last season after he had already committed to OKC, otherwise, he may have contemplated making the move to South Beach.

Tue May 6 201400:28Caron Butler struggles off the bench
Caron Butler moved back to the bench in Monday's loss to the Clippers, finishing with three points, six boards, one assist and one 3-pointer in 25 minutes.
Coach Scott Brooks went back with Thabo Sefolosha in the starting lineup and Butler was off his game. He missed easy shots and he made just 1-of-7 from the field overall. Butler shot just 34.0 percent from the field in the opening round and he might see less than 25 minutes in Game 2 on Wednesday.

Thu May 1 201419:53Caron Butler starting for Thabo Sefolosha
Caron Butler will start in place of Thabo Sefolosha on Thursday night in Game 6.
The Grizzlies are expected to go with a smaller lineup during this game, so taking away the perimeter defense of Sefolosha is a risky move. Butler is coming off a nice 15-point game on Tuesda and coach Scott Brooks is looking for a little more offense here. Thabo is active and he might see very little playing time since he's not really been able to provide much punch in the second unit.

Mon Apr 14 201423:15Butler scores 19 points off the bench
Caron Butler scored 19 points off the bench on Monday, hitting 6-of-9 shots (including three treys) with three rebounds and two steals in 27 minutes.
Butler got hot on last Tuesday against the Kings and this is what a good night looks like for him, but be sure you check his game log before you gamble on him for Wednesday's game. Russell Westbrook will likely be back for that one, too, so there will be less touches to go around.

Wed Apr 9 201400:45Caron Butler catches fire, hits six treys
Caron Butler hit 8-of-10 shots and 6-of-6 3-pointers for 23 points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal in Tuesday's easy win over the Kings.
Butler tends to get hot like this occasionally, but hasn't been a must-start player since arriving in Oklahoma City. In fact, he's on the Marcus Thornton plan, scoring 23, 5, 13, 4 and 15 points in each of his previous five games. And with Thabo Sefolosha back in action for OKC, consistency could be even more of an issue for Butler down the stretch.

Sun Mar 30 201418:06Caron Butler scores 15 points vs. Jazz
Caron Butler scored all 15 of his points on his five 3-pointers vs. the Jazz on Sunday, making 5-of-8 from the field with two boards and one assist in 26 minutes.
All three of his misses came from inside the arc and his efficient line got him to 39.7 percent from deep with the Thunder this year. If Butler can continue making shots at that rate, he'll certainly find himself being a key contributor during OKC's title run. He's a low-end option in fantasy leagues with just three games this week.

Wed Mar 26 201400:08Caron Butler cools off vs. former team
Caron Butler came back to Earth on Tuesday with 10 points, four boards, one assist, two steals, one block and two 3-pointers.
He is coming off a 23-point game on Monday thanks to some garbage time and he was right back near his average with his new team. In his 10 previous games, Butler averaged 9.6 points, 5.3 boards and 1.4 steals in 27.9 minutes. His owners should have their expectations in this neighborhood.

Tue Mar 25 201410:42Caron Butler finally getting into a rhythm
Caron Butler is feeling more comfortable in Oklahoma City's system.
Butler has only played 10 games with the Thunder, but is already feeling at home with his new team. "I'm just getting into a rhythm," he said. "My teammates are doing a great job of finding me in flow, and I'm starting to get a little more familiar with my game and understanding where I like the ball at." The 34-year-old has played at least 22 minutes in all 10 of his games with the Thunder and is averaging 10.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.4 steals, and 2.0 3-pointers over his last five games. His output has been a bit inconsistent from game to game, but Butler should prove to be a valuable asset to fantasy teams in need of 3-pointers and steals down the home stretch.

Sun Mar 16 201422:08Caron Butler's shooting slump continues Sun.
Caron Butler logged 22 minutes vs. the Mavs on Sunday but scored only seven points on 3-of-10 shooting, with two rebounds, one assist and one block.
He's now shooting a combined 18-of-51 from the field in March (35.3 percent), which is reason enough to avoid him in standard leagues unless you're desperate for 3-pointers (2.0 per game). He's adding a mere 1.0 assists and 0.4 steals this month, reducing him to a one-category specialist.

Thu Mar 13 201411:34Caron Butler seeing big minutes for Thunder
Caron Butler is averaging 27 minutes per game since being acquired by the Thunder.
Butler's 27 minute per game average since being acquired is fourth on the team during that span behind Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and Serge Ibaka. However, Tough Juice is only averaging 7.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.5 steals, and 1.8 3-pointers in his four games with the Thunder. Butler has value in deeper fantasy leagues due to his minutes, but his is a case where his real-life basketball value trumps his fantasy basketball value.

Wed Mar 12 201400:04Caron Butler scores 11 with three 3-pointers
Caron Butler played 29 minutes and hit three 3-pointers for 11 points and five rebounds on 4-of-10 shooting Tuesday.
Reggie Jackson had nine points, one assist, one steal and a 3-pointer in 21 minutes, and while Butler has been inconsistent, he looks like the better fantasy play if you're weighing the two options.

Fri Mar 7 201400:14Caron Butler hits four 3's in 29 minutes
Caron Butler hit 4-of-11 shots off the bench on Thursday, all of which were 3-pointers, finishing with 14 points, one rebound and one assist in 29 minutes in a loss to the Suns.
The key here is that he played 29 minutes, while starter Perry Jones III played 11 minutes and Reggie Jackson played 18 minutes. Maybe it was a revenge game for Butler, as he had a cup of coffee with the Suns, but it looks like he might end up being the guy to benefit most from Thabo Sefolosha's potentially season-ending calf injury. If you own Jackson, we support dropping him for Butler.

Wed Mar 5 201400:51Caron Butler scores two points in OKC debut
Caron Butler made his Thunder debut on Tuesday with two points, five boards, one assist, one steal and one block in 26 minutes.
Coach Scott Brooks said he was going to play Butler 15-24 minutes tonight, but his team did not need their starters much in this game. Perry Jones III seems like a good fit at shooting guard for his length on defense, so Butler will have plenty of inconsistencies in the second unit.

Tue Mar 4 201418:30Caron Butler to play 15-24 minutes on Tuesday
Caron Butler will play between 15-24 minutes for the Thunder on Tuesday, according to coach Scott Brooks.
Perry Jones III will make another start at SG but he doesn't have a lock on the job, and Brooks has already suggested that Butler might overtake him once he's adjusted to his new team. With Thabo Sefolosha (calf) for roughly 4-6 weeks, Caron could emerge as a reliable source of points and 3-pointers down the stretch for fantasy owners.

Mon Mar 3 201413:36Caron Butler may start at SG for Thunder
Caron Butler will be available to play on Tuesday and coach Scott Brooks said that he may replace Thabo Sefolosha as the Thunder's starting SG.
We assumed that Butler would be a candidate for the job, but it's somewhat surprising to hear Brooks confirm it within hours of Butler's arrival in OKC. Anyone who speculatively picked up Perry Jones III or Jeremy Lamb can safely cut them again. Butler is worth a look as a cheap source of points and 3-pointers, if little else.
