Sat Jan 7 201210:20Gary Forbes out of rotation for Raptors
Gary Forbes is not part of the Raptors rotations at the moment, but the team has been working to improve his PG skills.
Forbes is a natural swingman who will never be mistaken for a PG, so we're not reading much into this. He's unlikely to have any value unless one of Toronto's wing players goes down with an injury.

Tue Dec 13 201118:50Gary Forbes officially signs w/ Raptors
Gary Forbes has officially signed with the Raptors, reportedly a three-year deal with the third year being a team option.
The Raptors apparently paid Forbes "double what Denver offered," but exact dollar amounts aren't known. He has real potential in Toronto, especially with Linas Kleiza still rehabbing from knee surgery. Don't reach for him in fantasy drafts, but consider him a clever sleeper pick in deep leagues.

Sat Dec 10 201116:44Raptors sign Gary Forbes to an offer sheet
The Raptors have signed restricted FA Gary Forbes to an offer sheet, giving the Nuggets three days to match the offer.
Forbes is reportedly being offered three years, with the final year a team option. Both Toronto and Denver can use help at SF and it's possible the Nuggets will keep him, though the dollar amount of the contract isn't yet known.

Fri Dec 9 201116:32Raptors close to deal w/ Gary Forbes
The Raptors are close to signing Gary Forbes to a two-year contract with a team option for a third year, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
Forbes is a solid SF who actually started 11 games for Denver last season, averaging 9.5 points, 0.6 threes, 4.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.8 steals, and 1.7 turnovers in 23 minutes per game. It's a respectable addition to Toronto's roster but doesn't have much of a fantasy impact.

Wed Nov 30 201112:02UFA Gary Forbes hopes to be back with Nuggets
Gary Forbes is hoping to re-sign with the Nuggets.
Forbes is an unrestricted free agent following a surprising season where he emerged as a contributor off of the bench. "That's the team that took a chance on me when no one else did," said Forbes. Given the lack of depth on Denver's roster currently, re-signing him makes plenty of sense.

Thu Sep 8 201123:41Forbes scores tournament-high 39 points
Gary Forbes scored a tournament-high 39 points in Panama's 91-89 win over Canada in the FIBA Americas tournament on Thursday.
We'll grant him the fact that his competition was a bit better than he faced at the Greater Hartford Pro-Am when he scored 78 points, but by how much we don't know. But let's not salt the man too much, since everything he has done since coming to the NBA has exceeded expectations.

Mon Aug 15 201109:50Gary Forbes explodes for 78 points in Pro-Am
Gary Forbes scored 78 points in a Greater Hartford Pro-Am Game.
Forbes hit 13 3-pointers and led his team to a 136-132 victory. It's pretty crazy that his squad only won by four points considering his 78-point outburst, but UConn's Jeremy Lamb had 58 points on the other side, which may have helped to explain the closely contested affair.

Tue Jul 12 201116:06Report: Gary Forbes open to playing overseas
According to Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe, Nuggets swingman Gary Forbes is open to playing overseas if the lockout extends into the regular season.
Forbes played his college ball at UMass and was relatively unknown before earning a spot in Denver's rotation last season. Although he's now a legitimate role player in the league, Forbes won't be a fantasy asset unless a rash of injuries makes its way through Denver.

Tue Jun 21 201109:04Forbes, Afflalo, Chandler get offers
Nuggets extended qualifying offers to Gary Forbes, Arron Afflalo and Wilson Chandler.
The offers are mere procedural. They make each player a restricted free agent, giving the Nuggets the right to match any offer made. Afflalo is a strong bet to return to Denver as part of their core, while Forbes and Chandler are question marks.

Thu Jun 9 201118:09Forbes future up in the air?
Restricted free agent Gary Forbes hopes to return to the Nuggets next season.
Forbes, an undrafted free agent out of UMass last season, is not at the top of the Nuggets' priority list. Even though he came out of nowhere to start 11 games as a rookie, Forbes is a rotational wing at best.

Tue Apr 12 201100:29Gary Forbes starts for Gallinari on Monday
Gary Forbes made another start on Monday, finishing with 15 points, four rebounds, three assists and a 3-pointer in an easy win over the Warriors.
With Nene, Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari all hurting, as well as the fact the Nuggets clinched the No. 5 seed tonight, don't be surprised to see Forbes start again on Wednesday.

Sun Apr 10 201101:41Forbes produces in start at shooting guard
Gary Forbes started for injured Wilson Chandler (ankle) in the Nuggets' blowout win over the Wolves on Saturday, scoring 10 points on 2-of-8 shooting (0-for-3 from deep, 6-of-6 from the foul line) with five rebounds, four assists, and one steal in 34 minutes.
This game was a bit hard to read given the blowout and lack of energy throughout, but if the current configuration of Arron Afflalo (hamstring), Chandler, and Danilo Gallinari (ankle) all being out continues -- then Forbes will be worth a look in 14-team leagues should he continue to start.

Sat Apr 9 201120:00Forbes listed as the starting SG for Saturday
Gary Forbes will start at shooting guard for the Nuggets on Saturday.
Beat writer Aaron Lopez opines that Wilson Chandler is likely out to rest his ankle, and we expect that confirmation to come shortly. Forbes has given way to J.R. Smith when guys have been out, and we like Smith to have a solid night tonight as long as he stays out of the doghouse. As for Forbes, he has too much history of limited minutes when starting to get excited about.

Sun Mar 13 201103:55Forbes starts and scores 10 points on Sat
Gary Forbes started for injured Arron Afflalo (hamstring) on Saturday, and scored 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting (including two treys) with five rebounds and two assists in 21 minutes.
If you're in a deeper, daily format you may consider using him if Afflalo misses Monday's game as feared, but otherwise there too many red flags to consider using him -- barring an unexpected change of news.

Thu Mar 10 201118:13Gary Forbes is starting in place of Afflalo
Gary Forbes will start in place of Arron Afflalo (hamstring) Thursday night.
J.R. Smith will continue to come off the bench as coach George Karl keeps his second unit rotations intact. Forbes has started four games earlier this season, averaging 10.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists. If we were going to make a risky spot-start tonight, we'd prefer Smith against the Suns' leaky defense.

Wed Feb 23 201102:00Forbes comes off the bench on Tuesday
Gary Forbes came off the bench in Tuesday's game, scoring 10 points on 4-of-12 shooting (including a three) with two rebounds and a steal in 22 minutes.
On one hand, he has shown the Nuggets enough to allow them to be aggressive in trades for wings, and on the other the Nuggets recently leaked that they're not interested in trading wings. While we don't believe much that they say, Forbes is at the bottom of a very large list right now.
Tue Feb 22 201111:57Forbes to start in place of Melo?
Team beat writer Aaron Lopez projects Gary Forbes as the Nuggets' starting small forward for Tuesday night's game against the Grizzlies.
Note that the Knicks players are not likely to pass physicals and get to Denver in time to play tonight. And also be aware that this is just Lopez's guess. Our guess is that the starting small forward will be J.R. Smith, who started five straight games when Carmelo Anthony was injured in late December. Lopez rounds out his projected starting five with Ty Lawson, Arron Afflalo, Kenyon Martin and Nene.

Fri Dec 10 201023:06Forbes starts for injured Anthony (knee)
Gary Forbes started for injured Carmelo Anthony (knee) on Friday, scoring 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting (including a three) with six rebounds, one assist, two steals, and a block in 24 minutes.
The two quick knocks on this are the near-perfect shooting line it took to get his 15 points, and the fact that it came against the hapless Raptors. He'll be worth a look in a spot-start, however, if Melo can't play on Sunday against the Knicks (as if).
Wed Dec 8 201021:52Gary Forbes starts for Nuggets
Gary Forbes started for the Nuggets on Wednesday as Carmelo Anthony sat out with a knee injury.
Forbes had just five points on 1-of-3 shooting in 20 minutes, and is only worth owning in extremely deep leagues.
Tue Nov 23 201011:16Forbes falling out of rotation
Gary Forbes played just four minutes on Monday night while J.R. Smith saw 16 minutes.
Just a week ago, coach George Karl was talking about how Forbes had passed Smith in the rotation. So much for that. As the vastly more talented player, we knew Smith would be ahead of Forbes long term. Now Smith has to start producing, and he'll be back on the fantasy radar.
