Wed Dec 26 201217:26Heat send Dexter Pittman to D-League
The Heat assigned Dexter Pittman to their D-League affiliate in Sioux Falls.
Pittman has played a total of 12 minutes this season, so this isn't much of a surprise. He'll get a lot more playing time in the D-League.

Sat Nov 24 201222:43Dexter Pittman picks up DNP-CD vs. Cavs
Dexter Pittman (quad strain) was active on Saturday, but once again he did not play.
Pittman simply isn't in Miami's plans this season, as tonight's DNP-CD exemplifies.

Fri Nov 9 201219:43Pittman (leg) inactive on Friday
Dexter Pittman (leg) is inactive on Friday against the Hawks.
Unless your league counts flagrant fouls, Pittman has no fantasy value.

Tue Oct 30 201218:29Dexter Pittman (leg) game-time on Tuesday
Dexter Pittman (leg) is a game-time decision on Tuesday.
Pittman pulled a muscle in his leg during a recent practice, but even if he sits out his absence will go unnoticed in fantasy.

Tue Oct 16 201216:39Dexter Pittman (toe) resumes practicing
Dexter Pittman returned to practice on Tuesday after sitting out a few games with a sore toe.
The injury doesn't seem likely to sideline him for Thursday's exhibition, which is good news for Pittman as he tries to make Miami's regular season roster.

Sun Oct 14 201201:01Dexter Pittman out w/ ongoing toe injury
Dexter Pittman did not play in Saturday's exhibition due to an "ongoing toe issue."
Pittman isn't guaranteed a roster spot and his unavailability during the preseason could be the final nail in his coffin. Miami is fully embracing a small-ball approach (Shane Battier is set to start at PF), giving them even less incentive to keep Pittman in the fold.

Fri Oct 5 201208:53Dexter Pittman sees improvement in condition
Dexter Pittman acknowledged that he could be on the roster bubble.
"This is it," Pittman said. "This is my last year under contract. This is my chance to prove I want to stay in this league for a long time." Reports out of Miami indicate that Pittman is in the best shape of his life, and Erik Spoelstra has endorsed him more than he had been previously. Even if he makes the team, he'd spend the majority of his time at the end of the bench.

Thu Sep 27 201213:33Dexter Pittman in the best shape of his life
Erik Spoelstra said that Dexter Pittman "is in the best shape of his career.
This is notable because the team had been reportedly "disappointed" by Pittman's conditioning earlier in the month, so hearing this straight from Spoelstra is encouraging. He'll enter training camp with an upper hand to make the team because he has a guaranteed contract, but he has no fantasy value.

Tue Sep 18 201208:35Report: Dexter Pittman has slimmed down
According to one Heat teammate, Dexter Pittman is "as fit as he has been."
The same teammate said that if Pittman winds up being waived, it won't be because of his conditioning efforts. His contract is fully guaranteed for the 2012-13 season, so we can be sure that the Heat will evaluate him very closely in training camp before considering releasing him.

Sun Sep 16 201221:57Heat 'disappointed' in Dexter Pittman
The Heat were reportedly "disappointed" by Dexter Pittman's summer league performance, according to an anonymous team official.
Pittman's deal is fully guaranteed for $854k, but this confirms that he may not even make the regular season roster (he averaged just nine minutes in 35 appearances last season. "This is a crucial training camp for [Pittman]," said an unnamed Heat official. "But the slate is clear."

Thu Sep 13 201209:07Dexter Pittman firmly on the roster bubble
Dexter Pittman "needs a good camp" to make the final roster.
Beat writer Ethan Skolnick goes as far as to say that Pittman is "on (the) bubble," indicating that the Heat may be getting tired of waiting for the big man to get his act together. He's had conditioning issues and hasn't shown much despite the team remaining patient with him. Despite exercising his contract option in the offseason, Pittman needs to perform to stick around.

Wed Sep 12 201208:59Pat Riley unhappy with Pittman's conditioning
Pat Riley "expressed some disappointment" about Dexter Pittman's conditioning.
The Heat have invested a lot of time and patience into Pittman, who has never really seemed to make the commitment to excellence in terms of getting his body into peak basketball shape. Despite having his contract picked up for the 2012-13 season, it's entirely possible he loses his roster spot if other big men in training camp show more promise and potential than he does.

Fri Jun 29 201209:37Heat to pick up Dexter Pittman's option
The Heat will exercise Dexter Pittman's contract option for the 2012-13 season.
Pittman will be back in South Beach but he still has an uphill climb ahead of him for stable minutes in the rotation.

Fri Jun 1 201218:59Dexter Pittman available for Game 4
Dexter Pittman has served his three-game suspension for his Flagrant-2 foul on Lance Stephenson in the previous round of the playoffs and is available to play in the Heat's Game 4 on Friday night against the Celtics.
Even though Pittman received a very surprising start in one game of the Heat-Pacers series in the previous round, he has not played more than four minutes in any game this playoffs. He is just a bench player and probably won't have much impact on the critical Game 4.

Wed May 23 201219:09Pittman suspended three games for cheap shot
The NBA has suspended Dexter Pittman three games for his Flagrant-2 foul on Lance Stephenson during Game 5.
Pittman took a blatant cheap-shot to Stephenson's head, so the suspension is completely unsurprising. His loss shouldn't be a major issue for Miami, considering he hasn't played more than four minutes in a game during the playoffs.

Tue May 22 201223:17Pittman may be subject to disciplinary action
Dexter Pittman committed a flagrant-1 foul in Tuesday's Game 5 win over the Pacers, and could be suspended for Thursday's Game 6 after the league reviews the play.
Though one can never know, it would be surprising if he suits up after what looked like an intentional elbow to the head of Lance Stephenson. It sounds funny to say this, but with Chris Bosh out it's conceivable that he would be needed if Roy Hibbert starts having his way with Miami down low.

Thu May 17 201219:04Dexter Pittman: From DNP-CD to starting C
Dexter Pittman is starting at center for the Heat on Thursday night.
From a DNP-CD on Tuesday to starting center on Thursday, Pittman's playoff series will certainly get interesting in a hurry. Udonis Haslem and Joel Anthony will get plenty of run at center for Miami off the bench as well. Starting Pittman in such a critical game has to rank as one of the biggest playoff surprises so far this season.

Tue Apr 24 201222:57Dexter Pittman leads Heat in scoring w/ 12
Dexter Pittman had 12 points, four rebounds, three assists and two blocks on 6-of-10 shooting to lead the Heat in a nearly unwatchable game against the Celtics on Tuesday.
Only a few starters played for either team (Mario Chalmers, Paul Pierce, Brandon Bass, Avery Bradley) and only four players scored in double digits on the night. James Jones chipped in with 11 points, six rebounds and three pointers, and Udonis Haslem had six points and 13 rebounds in the ugly loss. And with the Heat now locked into the No. 2 seed and nothing to play for, expect more of the same on Thursday against the Wizards. Pittman, Haslem and Jones might be worth adding for that one, but Mario Chalmers (eight points, 3-of-10 shooting, 28 minutes) could be due for a rest, clearing the way for Norris Cole to get more minutes. Cole had six points in 26 minutes tonight, so there aren't really any clear cut must-own players in Miami, despite the skeleton crew they're running out there.

Sat Apr 21 201222:37Dexter Pittman scores 12 points in loss
Dexter Pittman scored 12 points in 14 minutes on Saturday, grabbing two rebounds and blocking one shot despite battling foul trouble all night.
Miami used some hideous lineups, and at one point beat writer Ethan Skolnick was moved to write, "Dexter Pittman might be the most skilled offensive player on the floor for Heat." This was the third time all season that Pittman has scored 10+ points.

Sat Apr 14 201200:40Pittman scores career-high 16 points
Dexter Pittman scored a career-high 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting with two rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench on Friday.
Pittman has only been useful in a handful of games this season and has no fantasy value. Terrel Harris scored eight points with six rebounds and four assists, playing 35 minutes in the blowout win over the Bobcats.
