Novak is averaging 3.6 minutes on the court in just seven games this season.
Novak has been a role player over the course of his career, although his role in Utah is mostly just mentoring the young talent who garners all the time on the court. The 30-year-old is in the twilight of his career and will likely continue to spend the majority of his time on the bench during his stint with the Jazz.

Novak has played just eight minutes over the course of Utah's first two games of the regular season.
Novak wasn't expected to see much time on the court, but just eight minutes over two games is somewhat surprising considering his ability to shoot the three at such a high clip. If this continues as the season progresses, the 30-year-old won't be a viable option in virtually every depth of league with his lack of playing time.

Novak has played in five preseason games while averaging one three pointer per contest.
Novak will come off the bench for the Jazz this season under the direction of new coach Quin Snyder. There's really only one upside to owning Novak, and that's his ability to knock down the three ball. However, there are many other options around the league that should be taken over the 30-year-old who only averaged 10 minutes per game last season with the Raptors.
Sun Jul 6 201412:56Steve Novak excited to join young Utah core
Steve Novak is excited to be joining the Jazz, and likes the system that coach Quin Snyder runs.
"I [am] extremely excited," Novak said. "It's a young group we have, but we can get a lot better quickly. [Snyder's system is] up-tempo. It's scoring. It's shooting. It's exciting. I think it's a great fit for me." Novak is a bottom of the bench kind of guy, and he's not going to have much fantasy value in Utah outside of deep leagues.

Fri Jul 4 201416:44Jazz acquire Steve Novak in trade w/ Raptors
The Jazz acquired Steve Novak in a trade on Friday.
The Jazz ranked 25th in 3-point percentage last season and Novak could be able to improve on his may be able to improve on his 10.0 minutes per game from last season. The Jazz are currently thin at small forward, but Marvin Williams has said he wants to return to Utah. Novak should only be viewed as a specialist in deep fantasy leagues.

Sun Mar 9 201422:17Novak makes five 3-pointers w/ Patterson out
Raptors forward Steve Novak made 5-of-6 shots from downtown to finish Sunday's road victory with 15 points and one rebound in 20 minutes.
This perfectly encapsulates Novak's role in Toronto, where he's asked to do little beyond spreading the court with his 3-point shooting. His hot hand made up for John Salmons' lousy two points on 1-of-6 shooting, and it reduced Landry Fields to a virtual DNP-CD. With Patrick Patterson (elbow) expected to miss 7-10 days, there's a good chance Novak will provide a steady dose of 3-pointers this week.

Thu Feb 6 201411:22Steve Novak sees minutes in Wednesday's loss
Steve Novak scored 12 points in 12 minutes during Wednesday's loss to Sacramento.
Nine of Novak's 12 points came from downtown as the Raptors dusted off the 30-year-old from the end of their bench. Novak has had a "DNP-CD" next to his name for four of the Raptors' last nine games, so while he can provide fantasy owners in extremely deep leagues with some help in the 3-pointer category, Novak can be ignored in most fantasy circles.

Mon Jan 27 201422:11Novak posts one assist in 22 minutes
Steve Novak started for injured DeMar DeRozan on Friday against the Nets and posted just one assist in 22 minutes.
Novak missed five shots too but at that rate who is counting. He probably discount double-checked his way out of the rotation tonight.

Mon Jan 27 201418:53Steve Novak will start in place of DeRozan
Steve Novak will start in place of DeMar DeRozan on Monday night vs. the Nets.
DeRozan did not travel and could miss more time with his sprained foot/ankle. Novak will likely just be more of a placeholder for the starting unit and John Salmons could still see the bulk of the minutes next to Terrence Ross on the wing.

Mon Dec 9 201300:42Steve Novak takes season-high nine 3-pointers
Steve Novak scored three points in 28 minutes vs. the Lakers on Sunday, making 1-of-9 shots from downtown.
He grabbed three rebounds with no other stats to his credit, but this game was more encouraging than it may appear at first glance. The 28 minutes were a season-high, as were his nine shots, and the fact that they were all 3-point attempts is terrific for a career 43.1 percent 3-point marksman. John Salmons and Patrick Patterson present a renewed threat to Novak's bench role, however, so he's best avoided until the dust settles.

Fri Nov 15 201312:01Steve Novak set to return for Raptors
Steve Novak's back is feeling better and he'll be available for Friday's game against the Bulls.
He hasn't done much this season but it is possible he could get hot down the road and start making a lot of 3-pointers. Just keep an eye on him in case it happens.

Steve Novak (stiff back) will sit out a third consecutive game on Tuesday.

Mon Nov 4 201314:25Steve Novak (back) questionable to face Heat
Steve Novak's ailing back has improved enough that he's questionable to play the Heat on Tuesday.
He's still practicing with a wrap to protect his thumb and fantasy owners can safely ignore the sharp-shooting forward in Toronto's four-game week.

Steve Novak (hand) played seven minutes and hit one 3-pointer in his Raptors debut on Wednesday.

Mon Oct 28 201314:10Steve Novak (thumb) probable for opener
Steve Novak (thumb) has been practicing fully and coach Dwane Casey expects him to play in Toronto's season opener.
He's good for a handful of 3-pointers but not much else, leaving him as waiver wire fodder in standard leagues.

Fri Oct 25 201314:03Steve Novak will not play on Friday
Steve Novak (hand) will not play on Friday.
He played just 27 minutes with his new team this month, but it shouldn't really matter. Novak's role as a spot-up shooter translates to just about any team, so there's really no need for him to mesh with the second unit. He's not worth drafting in most leagues.
