Reserve swingman Marquis Daniels returned to practice Monday after sitting out Saturday's session due to a groin injury.

"I stepped on Drew's (Gooden) foot and got a little flat tire," Daniels said. "It's nothing big. Daniels isn't expected to see a big role in Milwaukee this season, unless one of his teammates gets hurt.

Marquis Daniels (hamstring) was held out of Saturday's scrimmage.

It was for precautionary reasons and he hasn't had any notable hamstring injuries since 2006, so it doesn't appear this should be an issue for him. He isn't on the radar in fantasy leagues.

Daniels hasn't yet signed his contract but the two sides have an agreement in place. The swingman will get a one-year deal worth the veteran's minimum and serve as depth on the wing.

It sounds like the two sides agreed to a deal but Daniels just hasn't officially put pen to paper. The Journal-Sentinel classifies Daniels as being "seriously considered for the 15th spot on the roster,"but makes it clear that nothing is official. Daniels said he feels "so much better" following his spinals surgery and is expected to be signed as a veteran presence on the wing. He offers no fantasy value.

Daniels spent three years with Boston and saw his minutes per game drop to 12.7 last year. The Auburn product will add depth at the wing in Milwaukee, but he will struggle to find a role that will be consistent enough for fantasy purposes.

"Right now I'm in another situation here in Milwaukee and I'm trying to take advantage of it," he said. "And hopefully I can come out of here with a good contract." Daniels classified himself a as a "defensive player," and the Bucks could give him a long look as the team looks to add veteran depth on the wing.

Marquis Daniels played well on Friday, scoring 12 points on 5-of-12 shooting with eight rebounds, three assists and four steals in 34 minutes as the Celtics lost to the Hawks.

The Celtics rested most of their starters in this one which is why Daniels received some extra run off the bench. He won't have any fantasy value unless the Celtics key players continue to miss time.

Marquis Daniels started the second half of Friday's game after Mickael Pietrus' head injury, and finished with six points on 2-of-4 shooting and three rebounds in 20 minutes.

These numbers aren't sending anybody to the waiver wire, but if Ray Allen (ankle) misses anymore time then Daniels will be the next man up. Even if Allen does play, those in deep leagues will want to track Daniels to see if he can produce in a bench role. The Celtics will need him to, but it's anybody's guess if he can.

A buyout "remains a possibility" for Marquis Daniels, but only if Daniels would like to play elsewhere.

The seldom-used swingman was brought back on a one-year deal in the offseason, but he's not a consistent part of the rotation and may seek to play elsewhere. He'll remain with the Celtics for the time being.

Marquis Daniels returned to action on Thursday from an ankle injury, but played just one minute in the overtime loss.

Daniels will need some injuries to teammates to have fantasy appeal, so continue to ignore him for now.

"When you miss as many games as he missed [last season after a spinal injury in February] and you don't have the luxury of a preseason, it's hard." Mickael Pietrus is about to join the Celtics' rotation and Daniels shouldn't be owned in fantasyland.

Now that Paul Pierce (heel) is back, Daniels is irrelevant in the vast majority of formats.

Mired in foul trouble, his coverage assignments on the Heat side should cause owners to give Daniels a break. If you're in a very deep league using Daniels as a short-term solution, don't let this result deter you from using him on Wednesday against the Hornets. Paul Pierce has already been declared out.

Doc Rivers decided not to start Marquis Daniels in place of injured Paul Pierce on Sunday, because he likes Daniels' fit with the second unit.

"I think they [complement] each other," said Rivers. "I think Marquis really helps, especially if we go with a 5-man second unit. I don't know if we'll do it or not, but it just really helps the team." Daniels can play everything from PG to SF if necessary, and he'll be Boston's glue-guy off the bench all season.
