Fri Mar 14 201422:31Nick Calathes plays well with bench
Nick Calathes had a potent stat line in his 18 minutes off the bench on Friday with 11 points, eight boards, two assists and two steals.
His time as the starter last month has really helped him develop as a floor general in the second unit. Still, Mike Conley is usually extremely durable, so there's little reason to add Calathes with limited playing time.

Wed Mar 5 201423:52Nick Calathes plays well off Grizz bench
Nick Calathes played 30 minutes off the bench and had 10 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals on 5-of-10 shooting Wednesday.
The game was a blowout and Mike Conley didn't hit a single shot tonight, clearing the way for Calathes to see some garbage time production. As long as Conley is healthy, Calathes can continue to be ignored, despite tonight's performance.

Wed Feb 19 201400:16Nick Calathes plays well in 19 minutes
Nick Calathes had 11 points, three rebounds, five assists, a steal and a 3-pointer on 4-of-7 shooting on Tuesday, but played just 19 minutes due to the return of Mike Conley from an ankle injury.
Sure, the line was fine tonight and Calathes might even be able to hold onto a little fantasy value for a bit while Conley gets back up to speed. But he'll need more than 19 minutes a night to make it happen. It looks like the run is over.

Wed Feb 12 201421:44Nick Calathes piles up full line vs. Magic
The Grizzlies beat the Magic in Orlando on Wednesday behind a well-rounded game from Nick Calathes, who finished with 12 points, five rebounds, six assists, four steals and two blocks.
Calathes turned the ball over just twice in 37 minutes of action and seemingly gets more comfortable in the starting PG role with every game Mike Conley (ankle) sits out. The bad news for his fantasy owners is that Conley should be ready to roll on the other side of the All-Star break, which promises to chop into Calathes' playing time and production. Plan accordingly.

Tue Feb 11 201423:31Nick Calathes scores 18 points in full line
Nick Calathes took it to John Wall on Tuesday night during a win, scoring 18 points with seven boards, six assists, two steals and one 3-pointer in 36 minutes.
He's really turned the corner and the Grizzlies basically got everything out of him in his six starts. In his previous five starts, Calathes averaged 14.6 points, 4.2 boards, 4.4 assists, 2.4 steals and 1.6 triples on 50.8 percent from the field. By comparison, he shot 40.8 percent before this stretch. Mike Conley (ankle) should be back soon, so the run might be over for the rookie.

Sun Feb 9 201421:38Nick Calathes scores 17 pts in another start
Grizzlies PG Nick Calathes scored 17 points on efficient 7-of-9 shooting during Sunday's loss in Cleveland, adding two 3-pointers, five rebounds, six assists and one steal.
The bad news is that he also coughed up five turnovers and the clock is ticking for his fantasy value with Mike Conley (ankle) ahead of schedule and potentially returning to action on Tuesday.

Sat Feb 8 201422:20Nick Calathes quiet in win over Hawks
Nick Calathes hit just 5-of-15 shots and no 3-pointers on his way to 10 points, three rebounds, five assists and three steals in Saturday's win over the Hawks.
He continues to start for Mike Conley (ankle) and continues to be a nearly must-own player, despite tonight's struggles. He's averaging 14.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.75 steals and 1.5 3-pointers over his last four games, and should continue to be relevant for as long as Conley is out.

Thu Feb 6 201400:39Nick Calathes turns in a nice game
Nick Calathes played 41 minutes in another start on Wednesday with 16 points, five boards, five assists, three steals and two 3-poitners.
He did turn the ball over six times and had five fouls, but fantasy owners will like this output. Mike Conley (ankle) is going to be re-evaluated in the coming days, which will help put some sort of timeline on Calathes' value. If he's still sitting around on the wire, it's probably for good reason in shallower formats.

Tue Feb 4 201401:30Nick Calathes cools off on Monday night
Nick Calathes did not make any 3-pointers against the Thunder on Monday with eight points, three boards, three assists, four steals and no turnovers in 29 minutes.
He put up a shocking 22-point game on Saturday, but that was likely due to poor defense and tonight's line would support that claim. Chances are most of Calathes' lines while Mike Conley (ankle) is out will look more like this one, which isn't such a bad thing with the steals and even some dimes. He's a low-end option for those looking for short-term help.

Sat Feb 1 201422:40Nick Calathes scores 22 points w/ four treys
Nick Calathes made the first start of his career on Saturday vs. the Bucks with 22 points, five boards, three assists, one steal and four 3-pointers in 40 minutes.
He shot 8-of-12 from the field and the Bucks just didn't feel like defending him. It was a catch-and-shoot fest for the rookie with all four treys coming off an assist. Calathes getting 40 minutes is really the biggest takeaway here, so he's worth a look as a shooting guard-type pickup in some deeper formats.

Sat Feb 1 201418:44Nick Calathes getting the start on Saturday
Nick Calathes will get the start against the Bucks on Saturday.
With Mike Conley (ankle) out of the lineup, Calathes will get the start for at least the next three games. His offense games needs a lot of work for his lack of scoring off the dribble and he's only a 31.6 percent shooter on his jumpers, leading to a 40.8 field goal percentage on the season. He should get a fair share of minutes, but isn't a very exciting pickup and is only worth a look for owners desperate for a point guard, especially shooting just 50.0 percent on his free throws. Plus, he didn't get any playing time in the last seven minutes of Friday's game after Conley went down.

Fri Aug 9 201317:14Grizzlies sign Calathes to two-year contract
Grizzlies sign PG Nick Calathes to a two-year contract.
The deal is worth "just under $2 million" and the second year will be a team option. Calathes adds affordable backcourt depth for Memphis and he has extensive experience playing overseas, but minutes may be hard to find as long as Mike Conley and Jerryd Bayless are healthy.

Mon Jul 22 201313:45Nick Calathes traded for second-round pick
The Grizzlies acquired Nick Calathes from the Mavericks for a 2015 second-round pick.
He was the 45th pick on the 2009 draft, but with the Mavericks getting some extra depth in Gal Mekel, Shane Larkin and Jose Calderon the team opted to send him to Memphis. Calathes won't be making a noteworthy impact with the Grizzlies in his first year with the club.

Sun Jul 21 201323:38Mavs, Grizzlies talk trade for Nick Calathes
The Mavericks and Grizzlies are in "advanced discussions" about a trade that would send Nick Calathes to Memphis for future draft picks, according to ESPN.com.
Calathes played for PBC Lokomotiv-Kuban in Russia last season, where he posted 12.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game. His 6'6" frame gives him great size for a PG, but Dallas seems ready to part with him now that Jose Calderon and Gal Mekel are under contract.

Sun Jul 1 201201:05Calathes signs in Russia, not coming to Mavs
Nick Calathes has reportedly agreed to play in Russia next season, meaning he's not coming to the Mavericks anytime soon.
The 2009 draft pick was set to play for Dallas in Summer League, but those plans appear to be dead if he is in fact staying overseas. It's not official, but it does appear that Calathes may never play in the NBA.

Tue Jun 5 201215:46Nick Calathes eager to make Mavericks roster
Nick Calathes will participate in Summer League if Greece does not qualify for the Olympics, and is hoping to begin his NBA career with the Mavericks next season.
The Mavs traded a second-round pick for Calathes on draft night in 2009, with the knowledge that he'd already signed with a team in Greece. He played well for Greek powerhouse Panathinaikos and could very well make the Mavs' roster, but fantasy owners should avoid him -- for the 2011-12 season he shot just 27.9 percent from 3-point range, and a miserable 53.6 percent from the FT line.
