Tue Apr 9 201318:44Surprise: Rip to play limited minutes Tuesday
Updating a previous item, Richard Hamilton will make his return in Tuesday's game against the Raptors.
It will be Hamilton's first game since Feb. 26. He'll be eased in for limited minutes, likely around 15 at most. Even before going down, Rip was averaging just 10.2 points, 2.4 assists and 1.8 rebounds. He's not worth an add in fantasy formats.

Tue Apr 9 201312:11Rip Hamilton out again on Tuesday night
Richard Hamilton (back) will not play on Tuesday.
Hamilton is reportedly eyeing a return before the regular season ends, but he's simply running out of time, and the veteran hasn't played since February 26. Marco Belinelli and Jimmy Butler will get all of the run they can handle.

Thu Apr 4 201309:27Richard Hamilton remains out indefinitely
Richard Hamilton (back) remains out indefinitely.
Not a surprise here, but it's looking less and less likely Rip will be able to return during the regular season. With Marco Belinelli (abdomen) still hurting, Jimmy Butler is locked into a huge role right now. As the starting SG, Butler is averaging 14 points, 5.4 boards, 3.4 assists, 2.4 steals, 0/8 blocks and 1.4 triples. Most importantly, he's averaging 42.5 minutes in those starts.

Thu Mar 28 201311:12Rip Hamilton optimistic he'll play again
Richard Hamilton (back) "sounded optimistic" he'd be able to return for the end of the regular season.
Hamilton reported improvement in his back which has kept him out of action since February 26, but it's still not clear when he'll be back on the floor. With Marco Belinelli nursing an abdominal strain, Jimmy Butler is locked into major minutes at shooting guard with both Hamilton and Belinelli on the shelf.

Tue Mar 26 201313:41Richard Hamilton shoots, doesn't practice
Richard Hamilton (back) "did more shooting" on Tuesday, but he did not practice.
Hamilton remains out indefinitely until further notice and the Bulls still have not dismissed the possibility that he'll be out for the remainder of the regular season. If Marco Belinelli (abdomen) can't play on Wednesday against the Heat, Jimmy Butler should draw another start at shooting guard.

Fri Mar 22 201308:52Richard Hamilton (back) not making progress
Richard Hamilton is not making progress from his back injury and remains out indefinitely.
Marco Belinelli has been starting in place of Hamilton and is averaging 14 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.6 3-pointers, and although the numbers are solid, Belinelli in the starting five weakens the bench considerably. Jimmy Butler has also played at least 27 minutes in each of his last three games, so it's possible Tom Thibodeau is bracing for Hamilton to be out for an extended period of time. When asked of Hamilton's injury, Thibodeau replied, "it's not clearing up right now, so we have to wait."

Tue Mar 19 201308:28Richard Hamilton could be out for the season
Richard Hamilton (back) could be out for the remainder of the season.
We're marking him as "out indefinitely" until further notice, and Marco Belinelli will continue to play major minutes at shooting guard while Hamilton is sidelined. Tom Thibdoeau said Hamilton's status "is an unknown" the rest of the way, and added that the Bulls will "just have to wait and see." Considering Hamilton hasn't played since February 26, Belinelli should be owned in all formats.

Mon Mar 18 201312:21Richard Hamilton will not play again Monday
Richard Hamilton (back) will not play on Monday.
Hamilton is still listed as day-to-day, but it's not clear what kind of timetable he's working with given he hasn't played since February 26. Marco Belinelli will continue to start at shooting guard, where he's averaging 14.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.8 3-pointers.

Sat Mar 9 201314:02Richard Hamilton ruled out of next 3 games
Richard Hamilton (back) was officially ruled out of playing in the Bulls' next three games.
Hamilton won't travel with the team on their upcoming road trip that ends Friday against Golden State. Marco Belinelli will continue to see more time as long as Hamilton is out. The Italian guard has put together three straight games of at least 20 points, including Friday night's 22-point, four-rebound, three-assist performance that included a trio of 3-pointers.

Fri Mar 8 201318:35Hamilton not expected to travel with Bulls
Richard Hamilton (back) is not expected to travel with the Bulls on their upcoming three-game road trip.
The Bulls play at the Lakers on Sunday, at the Kings Wednesday and in Golden State Friday. It's a chance for a recently-hot Marco Belinelli to continue to spread his wings. While starting the last four games, he's averaged 13.5 points, 4.5 assists and 2.0 3-pointers a night.

Fri Mar 8 201312:16Rip Hamilton will not play again on Friday
Richard Hamilton (back) will not play on Friday.
Hamilton's bad back will keep him out of his fifth straight game. Marco Belinelli has been playing exceptionally well while filling in for Hamilton recently, and he's averaging 14.9 points, 1.1 steals and 1.8 triples as the starting shooting guard. Taj Gibson (knee) remains sidelined as well.

Tue Mar 5 201313:30Rip Hamilton will not play on Wednesday
Rip Hamilton (back) has been ruled out for Wednesday and is not traveling with the Bulls.
The Bulls play at San Antonio Wednesday before returning home for one game, and then the team hits the road for three straight games. Hamilton will have to show signs of improvement in order to get back on the court, but he remains day-to-day for now. Marco Belinelli and Jimmy Butler each get a boost without the veteran.

Sat Mar 2 201318:41Richard Hamilton (back) unlikely for Sunday
Richard Hamilton (back) is unlikely to travel with the team for Sunday's game in Indiana.
He turned 35 last month and back spasms aren't going to go away over night for the vet. Hamilton could miss a handful of more games and Marco Belinelli should hold some nice short-term value in standard leagues.

Sat Mar 2 201312:32Richard Hamilton won't play Saturday vs. DET
Richard Hamilton (back spasms) will not play against the Pistons on Saturday night.
Hamilton sat out Thursday's game with the same ailment, which hadn't bothered the fragile swingman before during his 10-year NBA career. There's still no reason to think the injury is serious, but Hamilton's fantasy value is barely relevant when he's healthy. Marco Belinelli, who struggled in Hamilton's place Thursday, will likely get the call again tonight and remains an intriguing short-term pickup.

Thu Feb 28 201319:52Richard Hamilton (back) out for Thursday
Richard Hamilton will not play against the Sixers on Thursday due to back spasms.
The 35-year-old swingman hasn't missed any games in the past 10 years due to back spasms, but his overall durability is among the worst in the league. Marco Belinelli will start and should have a fairly productive evening based on his averages 15.3 points, 1.7 triples and 1.3 steals in his 12 starts this year. Rip doesn't have much upside even when he's healthy and isn't on the radar in standard leagues. If more ominous news comes down about Hamilton, Belinelli would make for an intriguing short-term pickup.

Thu Feb 21 201310:52Report: Bulls willing to move Rip Hamilton
The Bulls are "trying hard" to trade Richard Hamilton, sources told Yahoo! Sports, but the team does not want to include a draft pick in order to make a deal.
This goes against a previous report from ESPN Chicago, but Rip's name is in trade rumors routinely. If Hamilton were to be shipped out, it could open an avenue for Jimmy Butler to regain appeal to fantasy owners.

Wed Feb 20 201300:02Rip Hamilton plays just 17 minutes in win
Rip Hamilton started and played just 17 minutes on Tuesday, finishing with just seven points and three assists.
Jimmy Butler played 24 minutes off the bench and had nine points and a 3-pointer, while Marco Belinelli played 20 minutes to finish with nine points, four assists and a 3-pointer of his own. All three of these guys are going to split time at shooting guard, but if Hamilton's traded, Butler or Belinelli would likely be inserted into the starting five. Stay tuned.

Tue Feb 19 201309:14Report: Bulls open to moving Richard Hamilton
The Bulls are "open" to trading Richard Hamilton "in a deal that makes sense" and saves the Bulls money.
That same description could be used for a number of players rumored to be on the trade market, and Hamilton's name has been mentioned in trade rumors throughout his tenure in Chicago. Unless it's an offer the Bulls can't refuse, Chicago is likely to stand pat as the club is hard capped at $74 million.

Tue Feb 12 201300:15Richard Hamilton scores 16 points in loss
Richard Hamilton hit 8-of-11 shots for 16 points and one assist in 27 minutes on Monday.
Rip played well tonight and this was the first time he played more than 19 minutes in four games, while he had scored a total of eight points in his previous two games. His emergence tonight did more to hurt Marco Belinelli, who had just six points in 19 minutes, and we're still not sold on Rip being a player to target in fantasy leagues right now.

Fri Jan 18 201323:48Richard Hamilton scores 20 in win
Richard Hamilton scored 20 points with one 3-pointer and a whopping seven turnovers in 33 minutes against the Celtics on Friday.
In his last six games combined, he only had four turnover and Rip didn't even a single board or assist in the game. He doesn't have much upside with only 0.4 triples per game and splitting time with Marco Belinelli. Belinelli hit the game winner and scored 10 points in 21 minutes. These two cancel each other out in standard leagues.
