Sat Sep 14 2013 | 12:00 | Yi Jianlian inks 2-year deal on Chinese club |
Guangdong Hongyuan signed PF Yi Jianlian to a 2-year contract. |
With no "optional clause" in his contract, the sixth overall pick in the 2007 draft cannot return to the NBA until 2015. Last year, Yi led Guangdong Hongyuan to a championship win, earning league MVP honors en route. He appears satisfied with this role even though there are certainly a few NBA teams that would be happy to have him coming off their bench. He last played in the NBA for the Mavericks in 2012. |

Sun Sep 23 2012 | 15:19 | Yi Jianlian signs one-year deal in China |
Yi Jianlian has reportedly signed a one-year deal with the Guangdong Tigers in China. |
Yi hasn't made a great impression during his NBA career and would have been asked to embrace a reserve role, but according to the report "he thinks consistent playing time is vital." The career 40.4 percent shooter has an uphill battle to resurrect a meaningful career in the NBA. |

Sun Sep 2 2012 | 10:09 | Yi Jianlian pursued by numerous NBA teams? |
Yi Jianlian said his agent has been contacted by several NBA teams, but he will wait to consult with his "management team" in the U.S. before making a decision. |
It seems like a given that Yi will sign with an NBA team this season, but we've seen enough to avoid him in all fantasy formats. Through five NBA seasons, Yi has shot just 40.4 percent from the field, with more personal fouls per game (2.3) than combined assists (0.7), steals (0.5) and blocks (0.7). |

Tue Aug 21 2012 | 08:23 | Yi Jianlian still hoping to return to the NBA |
Updating a previous item, Yi Jianlian is not considering playing in Spain and still wants to return to the NBA. |
Yi reportedly had a two-year, $5 million offer on the table from Real Madrid, but the club yanked the offer after Jianlian's salary demands, and the big man remains committed to remaining stateside. "For now, we're not considering playing in Spain," one of Yi's representatives said. He may not have a choice if his market remains nonexistent. |

Mon Aug 20 2012 | 08:08 | Yi Jianlian asking for $5M from Real Madrid |
Yi Jianlian is reportedly seeking a two-year contract worth $5 million from Real Madrid. |
We think it's comical that Yi can set the terms of his next deal given that he's a 40.4 percent shooter during his time in the NBA with career averages of 7.9 points and 4.9 rebounds, but at least he's aiming high. We wouldn't be surprised if his NBA career was over. |

Tue Aug 14 2012 | 10:45 | Report: Yi Jianlian has strained MCL in knee |
Yi Jianlian is currently dealing with a strained MCL. |
According to the report, the injury "will affect his chances of returning to [the] NBA this season, but we're not really buying that because Yi's market has been bone dry to date. One has to wonder if his NBA career is over after being the No. 6 overall pick in 2007. |

Although several European teams are showing interest in Yi Jianlian, he remains focused on staying in the NBA. |
Yi resurfaced with the Mavericks last season and is currently an unrestricted free agent. He wants to remain in the NBA, although it is yet to be seen if anyone in the Association wants him on their roster for next season. Even if he does return, he will have no fantasy value. |

Mon Jan 9 2012 | 14:00 | Yi dominating D-League |
Yi Jianlian is averaging 23 points and 12 rebounds in two games with the Texas Legends, the Mavericks' D-League affiliate. |
We've seen enough of Yi at the NBA level not to get overly excited by some gaudy D-League lines, but this is nevertheless encouraging for the Mavs. They may call him up at some point this season, and it certainly appears he'll be ready. |

Fri Jan 6 2012 | 18:26 | Mavericks send Yi, Williams to D-League |
The Mavericks sent forward Yi Jianlian and Sean Williams to the D-League's Texas Legends on Friday. |
Yi's still recovering from a knee injury and Williams hasn't seen many minutes for the Mavs thus far. If Yi ever gets fully healthy and finds a spot in the rotation he could be an interesting player for Dallas. But as long as Dirk Nowitzki and Lamar Odom can walk, Yi's not worth owning in fantasy. |

Fri Jan 6 2012 | 13:40 | Mavericks make Yi Jianlian signing official |
The Mavericks have signed F Yi Jianlian to a one-year contract. |
Dallas has already stated that Yi will spend some time in the D-League, and he's unlikely to come into any sort of fantasy value unless somebody gets hurt. |

Sun Jan 1 2012 | 18:50 | Mavs could send Yi Jianlian to D-League |
Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said Yi Jianlian could spend time in the D-League this season. |
The move would allow Yi to stay in shape and work on his game, and it doesn't sound as though he's likely to have a big role in Dallas unless someone gets hurt. |

Sat Dec 31 2011 | 20:33 | Report: Yi Jianlian to sign with Mavericks |
ESPN's Marc Stein is reporting that PF Yi Jianlian has agreed to a one-year deal with the Dallas Mavericks. |
While this is intersting news, Jianlian has constantly been injured throughout his career and will simply help Brandan Wright to back up Dirk Nowitzki. Unless you're in an incredibly deep league, there's no reason to make a move for Yi at this time. |

Sat Nov 26 2011 | 15:21 | Yi Jianlian out 2-4 weeks w/ strained knee |
Yi Jianlian, who has been playing professionally in China, will miss 2-4 weeks with a strained ligament in his right knee. |
The Wizards declined to make Yi a $5.4 million qualifying offer, so he's now an unrestricted free agent. He will likely test the market in the NBA, and can always stay in China if no team offers enough for the career 40.5% shooter. |

Fri Nov 25 2011 | 14:21 | Yi Jianlian hurts right knee on Friday |
Yi Jianlian hurt his right knee during a game in China on Friday, and had to be helped off the court. |
No word yet on what exactly is wrong with Yi, but hopefully it won't be serious. He signed a one-year deal with the Guangdong Southern Tigers but does have an out clause for whenever the lockout ends. |

Mon Oct 10 2011 | 08:04 | Yi Jianlian returns to China with Guangdong |
Yi Jianlian has signed a one-year contract with the Guangdong Southern Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association. |
Unlike foreigners that have signed in China before him, Yi's contract will include an out clause to return to the NBA when the lockout subsides. The special rules are specific to Yi because he is a local player. As an unrestricted free agent, it will be interesting to see what type of interest he drums up on the open market after he's failed to make a sizable impression during his tenure in the NBA thus far. |

Sat Jun 18 2011 | 19:49 | Yi Jianlian likely to become unrestricted FA |
The Wizards have not yet made a qualifying offer to Yi Jianlian, and chances are they won't. |
The Wizards have until June 30 to pick up the qualifying offer for Yi, but he's due to make $5.4 million next season, making it unlikely the Wizards will keep him. Yi will likely be a popular target in free agency, as injuries have kept him from reaching his full potential. |

Tue Apr 19 2011 | 13:52 | Yi Jianlian uncertain about future with Wiz |
Yi Jianlian is uncertain if he'll return to Washington next season. |
Yi had the worst statistical year of his career in a contract year, and with the Wizards looking toward the future and in the midst of a full-blown youth movement, it's likely he won't return. He's done absolutely nothing thus far in his NBA career to justify his selection as a lottery pick. |

Tue Mar 29 2011 | 01:09 | Yi fouls out after 23 minutes on Monday |
Yi Jianlian fouled out after 23 minutes in his start on Monday, scoring six points on 3-of-8 shooting with five rebounds and two blocks. |
He is only worth a look in deeper formats, and even then he is an inconsistent play at best. As long as Andray Blatche and Trevor Booker are out, he will be given every opportunity to succeed. Whether or not he takes advantage is the real question. |

Mon Mar 28 2011 | 00:15 | Jianlian gets a double-double |
Yi Jianlian had 12 points and 10 rebounds in Sunday's loss to the Warriors. |
With Trevor Booker (foot) and Nick Young (knee) out indefinitely, Jianlian is locked into monster minutes. He doesn't shoot 3s or block shots, but Yi has decent steals upside and can rebound. Deep leaguers should be well aware of the situation in Washington. |
