Gose is not in the lineup Monday against the Yankees.

Gose remains locked into a platoon with Rajai Davis in center field, so the lefty will remain on the bench as the Tigers face southpaw CC Sabathia. Davis will start in his stead, batting lead off.

As part of a soft platoon in center field for Detroit, Gose has been playing regularly against right-handed pitching but giving way to Rajai Davis against lefties, as he will Wednesday against Francisco Liriano. Davis did get a start Tuesday against a right-hander, but Gose, who is off to a 9-for-23 start to the season (two doubles, a triple and a homer), should continue seeing the majority of the starts moving forward.

Gose is back in center field and batting leadoff in Monday's game against the Pirates.

The toolsy centerfielder is off to a hot start, going 9-for-20 with one dinger, five RBI and six runs. He made some off-season adjustments to his swing that appear to be really paying off and a breakout season could be in order. Just temper your expectations that this start will be sustained in any way. We'll be pleased with a .250 average by season's end.

Gose will not get the start Sunday after starting four of the first five games for the Tigers.

Rajai Davis will get the start in center field for the soft platoon. Gose is hitting .450 with nine hits in 20 plate appearances. He has a 1.250 OPS and .800 slugging percentage in the first week of the season.

Gose's hot start to the season continued Friday when he when 2-for-6 with two hits, one RBI and one run scored. He was also caught stealing.

Nice start to the season, but there are warning signs already appearing. He whiffed three times Friday and has five Ks in his last two games. He's been knocked for his batting eye in the past (27.6 percent K rate), so while he will benefit from batting atop a potent lineup, he needs to get on base consistently to do it.

Gose delivered his second consecutive three-hit day Thursday against Minnesota, collecting two singles, a double, a steal and three runs.

This is one heck of a hot start for Gose, who's probably earned an extended trial in the leadoff spot at minimum. He never hit for much average in the minors, nor in his time in the majors thus far, so fantasy owners shouldn't get too excited -- he'll provide steals (and runs if he keeps hitting leadoff), but has fairly marginal power and is likely to settle in around a .250 batting average at best.

Gose went 3-for-6 with a double, a triple, and three RBI in the Tigers' rout of the Twins on Wednesday.

Leading off against right-hander Ricky Nolasco, Gose had an impressive debut for the Tigers on Wednesday. It's expected that the Tigers will use a soft platoon with Gose and Rajai Davis in center field, but his placement atop the order bodes well for an increase in value given the quality of the bats behind him in the Detroit lineup.

Rajai Davis was given the Opening Day start in center field, but that was mainly due to opposing right-handed pitcher Phil Hughes' reverse splits. While Davis and Gose figure to be deployed in a rough platoon at least to begin the season, as the left-handed hitter, Gose should occupy the larger portion of that timeshare. With the Twins bringing a right-hander to the hill with more normalized splits in Ricky Nolasco, Gose will get a chance to ignite the Tigers at the top of the order with his blazing speed. Should he stick in the leadoff spot for the bulk of the season, Gose could be a steady source of both steals and runs batting in front of Ian Kinsler, Miguel Cabrera, and Victor Martinez.

Gose will man the left-handed side of the Tigers' soft platoon in center field, and manager Brad Ausmus will emphasize the "soft" part right away, giving the right-handed Rajai Davis the start against Twins righty Phil Hughes due to Hughes' reverse splits. There is a good chance Gose will be in the lineup for the Tigers' second game of the season Wednesday with right-hander Kyle Gibson on the mound for the opposing Twins.

Gose will be considered as a potential leadoff hitter against righties this season, MLive.com's James Schmehl reports.

Gose has been hitting at an unsustainable high rate this spring, and ideally he would bat down in the Tigers' order in his first season as a semi-regular out of camp with a big league club. However, other than Ian Kinsler, there is not another obvious candidate to hit in the one or two hole for the Tigers. Gose should have no problem getting to 25-plus steals this season if he can hold on to the strong side of the center field platoon.

Gose has changed his stance and swing while working with Tigers coaches this spring, the Detroit News reports.

The very early returns this spring through a handful of Grapefruit League bring some optimism, but it will be interesting to see if the adjustments enable Gose to find a new level of success against big league pitching once the games begin to count. The Tigers are continuing to operate with Gose penciled in as their starting center fielder against right-handed starters to open the year.

All signs continue to point toward a platoon in center field where Gose ends up with a larger share of the playing time ahead of Rajai Davis. It remains to be seen if he can show enough improvement with the bat to be considered as a leadoff option, but for now the Tigers are leaning toward Ian Kinsler atop the order against righties with a competition for the No. 2 spot going on this spring. If that arrangement holds, Gose will likely hit eighth or ninth to begin the season.

If that plan holds up, Gose will likely hit eighth or ninth in the Tigers' batting order, limiting his opportunities to pile up RBI and runs scored, but still offering a path to plenty of steals if he can show improvement from his career .241/.316/.350 line against right-handed pitching.

Gose was traded to the Tigers on Wednesday in exchange for second base prospect Devon Travis, Sportsnet's Shi Davidi reports.

Gose will head to a Tigers team in need of outfielders after playing his first three big league seasons with the Blue Jays. He owns just a .604 career OPS at the big league level, but he provides good defense and speed, and figures to see plenty of action in center field.

Gose is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Orioles.

Gose started the last four games, but he will sit out with the Blue Jays facing left-hander Wei-Yin Chen on Saturday. Dalton Pompey will cover center field in Gose's absence, and Kevin Pillar will take Pompey's spot in left field.

Gose has flopped since taking over regular duties in center from Colby Rasmus, notching just eight hits (only one for extra bases) and one RBI in 44 September at-bats. It sounds like the team is intent on getting a look at Dalton Pompey over the final week, and while Pompey may play mostly in left, he could also eat further into Gose's time in center.

Jose Bautista will get a rare start in center field, giving Gose his first day off in almost two weeks. Nobody can doubt Gose's speed and throwing arm, both of which make him an appealing defensive option, but his lack of pop and ability to hit for average make him a one-dimensional fantasy option.

The Blue Jays recalled Gose from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.

Gose figures to serve as a part-time player off the bench initially, but if the Blue Jays fall out of the playoff race, he could see a few starts in the outfield and provide fantasy owners with a few steals over the season's final weeks.
