Derek Jeter will lead off for the American League in Tuesday night's 2014 MLB All-Star Game.
It's a nice honor for the veteran shortstop in his farewell season, and it should be a spectacular moment when he steps to the plate on Tuesday night at Target Field. The full American League lineup: SS Derek Jeter, LF Mike Trout, 2B Robinson Cano, 1B Miguel Cabrera, RF Jose Bautista, DH Nelson Cruz, CF Adam Jones, 3B Josh Donaldson, C Salvador Perez. Felix Hernandez is the AL's starting pitcher.

Derek Jeter finished 2-for-4 with a double, stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Rays.
Jeter has strung together a modest seven-game hitting streak in which he's batting 10-for-28 (.357) with four runs scored, four RBI and two stolen bases. Left for dead after a slow start to the year, the veteran is now batting .276/.330/.334 in his farewell tour.

Tue Jun 24 201422:18Jeter homers, but Yankees lose to the Jays
Derek Jeter went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Tuesday's loss to the Blue Jays.
Jeter's sixth-inning blast off of Mark Buehrle was the Yankees' first run of the game, the first step in their eventual erasure of a six-run deficit. It was a rare display of power for the Hall of Fame shortstop. Jeter is now slashing .267/.322/.327 with two home runs and 17 RBI on the season.

Fri Jun 13 201401:16Jeter goes 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs
Derek Jeter finished 3-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and two runs scored to push the Yankees to a 6-3 victory over the Mariners on Thursday.
This was Jeter's last trip to Seattle -- where his career began in May 1995 -- and he made it count. He went 7-for-12 with two walks and four runs scored during the three-game series. On Wednesday, he had two steals, the first time he'd swiped multiple bases in a contest since Sept. 25, 2009 versus the Red Sox. That game left him with 351 steals, allowing Jeter to join Craig Biggio and Rickey Henderson as the only players with at least 3,000 hits, 250 homers and 350 steals, according to ESPN Stats & Info. Of course, he'd been one of the worst everyday players in baseball prior to this series. Even after it, Jeter is slashing a modest .271/.331/.320 with just one homer and 14 RBI over 225 at-bats.

Sun May 25 201419:09Jeter's four-hit day leads Yanks past Sox
Derek Jeter went 4-for-5 with two RBI to help the Yankees beat the White Sox 7-1 on Sunday.
Jeter tripled to go with three singles, and he also scored a run in the game. The triple was his first of the season. Up to game speed after scuffling early on, Jeter has brought his line up to .275/.342/.329 for the season. It's good to see The Captain is still able to swing it despite this being his final hurrah.

Mon May 12 201423:08Derek Jeter goes 3-for-4 in loss
Derek Jeter went 3-for-4 with a walk Monday versus the Mets.
Yet somehow, even with the Yankees scoring seven times, Jeter went without a run scored or an RBI. He has just eight runs scored and seven RBI for the year, even though he's played in 30 games as a No. 2 hitter in a pretty good lineup. That's going to have to improve, but even so, he just doesn't offer much in fantasy leagues.

Thu May 8 201401:21Jeter has big series, NYY wins 2 of 3 at LAA
Derek Jeter went 2-for-5 with a homer and two runs scored in Wednesday's 9-2 victory over the Angels.
Perhaps Jeter needed warm California air to wake him up after an extended layoff. The veteran entered this series batting .240 with zero power and in an 0-14 streak, and then he went 5-for-10 with a walk, double and his first homer of the year as the Bombers took two of three. It was good to see, but his fantasy prognosis doesn't change much. He's simply no longer an asset. Jeter is slashing .262/.336/.327 over 27 games.

Tue May 6 201401:24SS Jeter collects 2 hits, ends wretched slump
Derek Jeter went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored Monday in a 4-1 loss to the Angels.
During a frustrating night in which Joe Girardi and Shawn Kelley were both ejected for jawing with home plate umpire Laz Diaz over balls and strikes, Jeter was just about the only Yankee who enjoyed himself. In so doing, the legendary shortstop yanked himself out of a 4-for-30 slump that featured no extra-base hits and only one walk. Jeter's farewell tour hasn't been pleasant thus far, and he's slashing .250/.318/.290.

Sat May 3 201410:39Derek Jeter not in Yankees lineup on Saturday
Derek Jeter is not in the Yankees starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the Rays.
It's no surprise that the veteran shortstop is sitting a day game after a night game, especially after taking an 0-for-7 in Friday's extra-inning loss. Yangervis Solarte will draw the start at shortstop in his place.

Sat May 3 201401:17Derek Jeter goes 0-for-7 for first time
Derek Jeter went 0-for-7 for the first time in his illustrious career in Friday's 14-inning loss to the Rays.
Jeter had gone 0-for-6 four times, most recently on May 11, 2011. The seventh at-bat was particularly disappointing for him tonight; after the Rays intentionally walked Jacoby Ellsbury to load the bases in the 13th tonight, Jeter hit a grounder right back to Heath Bell to end the inning.

Wed Apr 23 201422:57Derek Jeter loses 11-game hitting streak
Derek Jeter lost his 11-game hitting streak with an 0-for-4 against the Red Sox on Wednesday.
Jeter had raised his average from .182 to .298 during the stretch. Unfortunately, he's been a zero elsewhere for fantasy purposes; he's yet to homer or steal a base and he has just four runs scored and four RBI despite hitting from the second spot in the Yankees lineup.

Wed Apr 16 201410:10Derek Jeter (quad) not in Game 1 lineup
Derek Jeter (quad) is not in the lineup in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Cubs.
Jeter probably wasn't going to play in both games, so it makes sense to rest him in the afternoon tilt. It will be the third straight contest he's missed with a sore quad, but he should be back in there this evening. Dean Anna is getting another start at shortstop.
