OF Jeff Francoeur, who came into the Dodgers series 1-for-12, had singles in his first two at-bats against LHP Clayton Kershaw in his second straight two-hit game. He also threw out Kershaw at the plate, giving him 127 outfield assists for his career. That total is the most in the majors since he came up in 2005.

Francouer said there is a mutual interest in him returning to the Phillies next season, CSN Philadelphia reports.

Francoeur has revived his career this season with a strong showing as a part-time player. He has hit .257/.287/.427 with 12 home runs while also providing a young Phillies team with veteran leadership. The Phils will likely hire a new GM in the next month, so a final decision about Francoeur and any potential return will have to wait until that process is complete.

Francoeur is not in the lineup Friday against the Braves.

Francoeur has been losing playing time down the stretch, and following Wednesday's 0-for-4 with three strikeouts performance, he'll take a seat again Friday. Aaron Altherr will slide over to left field, with Brian Bogusevic drawing the start in right field.

Francouer is out of the lineup Sunday against the Cubs, Stephen Gross of The Morning Call reports.

Francoeur had started the last three games in left field, going 3-for-12 with four strikeouts. A known commodity at this point in his career, Francoeur could end up losing out on at-bats in the final few weeks if the Phillies decide to audition some of their younger players in the corner outfield.

Francoeur was claimed on waivers and pulled back by the Phillies, Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports.

The move means Francoeur cannot be traded this month. He will continue to see part-time work in right field for the remainder of the season, though his workload could be cut a bit if the Phillies give Aaron Altherr some time in right. Frenchy has hit .269/.296/.470 with 12 home runs in 253 at-bats this season.

Francoeur homered for the second straight game Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

Frenchy's enormous second half continues -- in 20 games since the All-Star break now, he's hit six homers to go with a .393 batting average. That's gettin' it done. Francoeur does, however, own distinct home-road splits -- he's hitting .315/.327/.583 at Citizens Bank Park and just .248/.287/.395 while away. The Phillies head to Miami for four starting Thursday, so Francoeur might not be the best bet to continue his hot hitting.

Francoeur went 2-for-3 with a solo homer Tuesday against Toronto.

Francoeur tied the game at one with his bomb off of knuckleballer R.A. Dickey. He's having an excellent August, as he's now hitting .344 with a pair of homers.

The veteran now has seven home runs and 29 RBI to go with a modest .249 average, but his at bats come almost exclusively against left-handed pitchers at this stage of his career, which significantly cuts into his fantasy value.

It will actually be Ben Revere starting in right field Wednesday, which is not a common occurrence. After a stretch where Francoeur was in the lineup almost every day, he seems to have finally fallen out of favor, becoming a part-time player for the Phillies.

Francoeur went 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI while falling a home run short of the cycle in Monday's win over Atlanta.

Both of the RBI came in a two-out situation Monday. Francoeur's grip on a share of the right field job could begin to slip if Domonic Brown can string together a nice run at the plate with Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Until then, Francoeur and Grady Sizemore will continue to split time in that spot.

Brown was activated off the disabled list Tuesday, but was optioned to Triple-A. He is likely to get another shot at the starting right field job this season, but he will need to start hitting in the minors first. Neither Francoeur or Sizemore have done much with their opportunities thus far. Francoeur is hitting .193/.258/.351 with two home runs in 57 at-bats.

On another ball-club Francoeur would benefit from batting cleanup, but due to his own personal struggles and a lack of firepower in front of him, he has failed to drive in any runs since his move to the four-spot. Francoeur is now hitting just .216 on the season and will likely see his playing time diminish once Dominic Brown returns next week.

Francoeur will get another start in right field Thursday, the Philadelphia Daily News' Ryan Lawrence reports.

He hit a homer Wednesday and looks to have taken pole position in the right field pecking order until Domonic Brown returns in a week or so.
