Sun May 18 201419:11Ross hits 1st homer as D'Backs beat LAD
Cody Ross went 2-for-3 with a double and a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Dodgers.
Ross took Dan Haren deep in the fourth inning for his first jack of the season. He has been dreadful at the plate after starting the season on the disabled list. Sunday's effort pushes him over the Mendoza line, however, as he is now slashing .203/.244/.270.

Sat Apr 19 201423:13Cody Ross goes hitless in loss
Cody Ross was the lone useless member of Arizona's lineup on Saturday, going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts against the Diamondbacks.
Everyone else except Gerardo Parra had at least one hit, and Parra managed an RBI and a run scored. Ross shouldn't be starting against right-handers, and he certainly shouldn't be hitting ahead of Martin Prado and Mark Trumbo if he has to start against right-handers. He's 0-for-9 since coming off the DL.

Sat Apr 19 201402:33Cody Ross goes hitless in return
Cody Ross went 0-for-5 with a strikeout in his return from the disabled list on Friday.
The Diamondbacks followed through on their threat and started Ross against a very tough righty in Zack Greinke. The results were pretty much what should have been expected. Ross figures to be a liability against righties for however long it takes the Diamondbacks to realize he's a fourth outfielder.

Mon Apr 14 201419:07Cody Ross (hip) shooting for Friday return
Cody Ross (hip) is aiming to be activated from the disabled list on Friday.
Ross had a mini-setback during his rehab assignment when he felt a little twinge in his side, but he's played the last few days with no issues. As long as he doesn't encounter any more bumps in the road, he'll be back this weekend. Manager Kirk Gibson indicated last week that Ross would be the main left fielder when he returns.

Fri Apr 11 201408:59Cody Ross missed two games on rehab
Cody Ross (hip) returned to his rehab assignment Thursday after missing the previous two games with "something in his side that was bothering him," according to Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers.
"Nothing major, just something in his side that was bothering him a little bit, so we gave him an extra day," Towers said. Ross had been slated to rejoin the D'Backs as soon as this weekend, but it's not clear whether this little setback will affect that timetable. Manager Kirk Gibson indicated earlier this week that Ross would be the main left field when he returns.

"He had a tough at-bat." Ross is expected to play the field later this week. He'll begin the season on the disabled list, but it's looking like he might not miss much time.

Thu Feb 27 201418:36Ross (hip) aims for March 13 Cactus debut
Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said Thursday that Cody Ross (hip) is scheduled to make his Cactus League debut on March 13.
That's assuming everything continues to go smoothly as the outfielder works his way back from last August's surgery to repair a dislocated hip. The D'Backs haven't officially ruled Ross out for Opening Day, but they'd probably be happen if he made his season debut sometime in April. He hit .278/.331/.413 with eight homers and 38 RBI in an injury-shortened 2013 season.

Mon Feb 3 201417:51Ross (hip) takes BP, ahead of schedule
Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers said that Cody Ross took batting practice Monday for the first time since hip surgery and is way ahead of schedule.
Towers said back in December that Ross might be out until May, but he suggested Monday that the start of the regular season is still possible. Of course, Opening Day isn't the be-all and end-all and it's worth noting that Arizona starts their season early this year. Ross, 33, hit .278/.331/.413 with eight homers and 38 RBI in 94 games last season.

Ross has made encouraging progress from August surgery to repair a dislocated hip and is expected to be cleared to begin running by the end of the month. It was a major procedure, though, so most of his time in spring training will be spent rehabbing. He batted .278/.331/.413 with eight homers for the D'Backs in 2013.
